Many believers understand righteousness comes through faith, but they live as though it comes through performance, feeling righteous after a good week and unrighteous after a bad one.

Romans 5:17 calls it "the gift of righteousness." A gift is received, not earned, and you hold on to a gift by continuing to receive it through faith, not by performing well enough to deserve it.

You live right because you already are righteous, not in order to become righteous. Proverbs 28:1 says the righteous are as bold as a lion. That boldness is the fruit of knowing who you are.
