DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 202
DATE: 22ND JULY 2026
TOPIC: WILLINGNESS TO CHANGE BRINGS LASTING FREEDOM
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: JAMES 1:22 (NLT):
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
Devotional message:

Yesterday, we learned that admission is the pathway to freedom. However, admission alone is not enough. Your willingness to accept godly counsel, submit to biblical direction, and embrace genuine change is essential for your turnaround and lasting freedom.

Many people openly confess the issues and struggles they are facing, yet remain unwilling to change. Their hearts are hardened, and some have already concluded in their minds that their situation can never change. Such a mindset hinders the work of God in their lives.

Whenever you come before God, you must first settle it in your heart that there is nothing impossible for Him. There is no bondage He cannot break, no addiction He cannot destroy, and no life He cannot transform. Jesus declared, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). Faith in God's ability positions you to receive freedom from every oppression of darkness and every struggle that has held you captive.

Likewise, when you seek help from spiritually mature believers, they will counsel you according to the Scriptures. That counsel must not only be heard but also practiced consistently. Confession without obedience cannot produce lasting transformation. Freedom is sustained when we willingly obey God's instructions, receive correction, and make practical changes in our daily lives.

For instance, if you struggle with masturbation, fornication, or pornography, yet you are unwilling to leave the websites, movies, environments, and associations that fuel those sins, you will continue to be trapped. The Apostle Paul commands us to "Come out from among them, and be ye separate" (2 Corinthians 6:17) and to "Flee fornication" (1 Corinthians 6:18).

God not only calls us to resist sin but also to separate ourselves from everything that nourishes it. As long as you remain in an environment that promotes sin, you will continue to struggle. But when you choose obedience and separate yourself from ungodly influences, God empowers you to walk in victory and freedom through Christ.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You because nothing is impossible for You. Give me a humble and obedient heart that is willing to receive correction and follow Your instructions. Help me to separate myself from every environment, relationship, and influence that leads me into sin. By the power of the Holy Spirit, strengthen me to walk in holiness and lasting freedom. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

Further Reading: James 1:22–25; Matthew 19:26; 2 Corinthians 6:17–18; 1 Corinthians 6:18.
