Good evening, brethren.
1. Evening devotion for today.
ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)
*DATE:*
WEDNESDAY 22ND JULY, 2026
*SUB-THEME:*
THE CONSEQUENCES OF REJECTING GOD'S GRACE.
*TOPIC:*
CONFLICTS.
*TEXT:*
2 SAMUEL 21:15-22.
15. Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines, and he became exhausted.
16. And Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of Rapha, whose bronze spearhead weighed three hundred shekels and who was armed with a new sword, said he would kill David.
17. But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David’s rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, saying, “Never again will you go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished.”
18. In the course of time, there was another battle with the Philistines, at Gob. At that time Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Saph, one of the descendants of Rapha.
19. In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jair the Bethlehemite killed the brother of Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver’s rod.
20. In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot—twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha.
21. When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimeah, David’s brother, killed him.
22. These four were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.
*TOPIC:*
CONFLICTS.
*THE MESSAGE:*
Failure to respond appropriately to God's grace leads to unnecessary conflicts. Today's text recounts the constant conflict between the Israelites and the Philistines. This was because Israel failed to obey God's instruction. Conflicts and wars are inevitable in an environment where complete obedience and laws are not adhered to. Continual conflicts do not only affect the people but cause significant setbacks. The church is called to be a holy community. When we maintain an unequal yoke with unbelievers, we will experience spiritual and moral setbacks (2 Cor. 6:14). How is your relationship with unbelievers around you? You are called to be salt and light to them by directing them to the saving grace of God. Are you shining the light? If not, redress your lifestyle.
*REFLECTION:*
Do not be the reason for conflicts.
*PRAYER:*
Lord, help me to eschew all forms of conflicts. Amen.
*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
HEBREWS 10:29.
How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
ISAIAH 28-30.
ED.i. HOW GOD'S CHILDREN SHOULD VIEW DEATH
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day." - 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Paul heard the footsteps of his executioners and he was ready. He could go because he had an invitation to a banquet. It would not be long before he would sit at the table with his King!
By leaving this world we enter the divine life where we will be with our Lord and Master, King Jesus.
The biggest victory
Some people are afraid to have to leave their bodies and go the path of eternal life. But we, as children of God, must not think and talk like the unbeliever. We are redeemed by Jesus; our soul is already saved, but our body is not. Our saved soul which has been cleansed with the blood of Jesus Christ, still lives in this body. Why should we be scared? Why should we fear? This is the greatest victory over that enemy, over death. We will be in Paradise forever and ever with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
You might think: 'I cannot say goodbye to my loved ones.' But consider that you already have more friends in heaven than here on earth. Do not wish for those who have gone before you to come back to earth either. They are free from the shackles we call the body, tent, temple or earthly vessel. They are redeemed! Fortunately, we don't have the power to get them back. Friends, when that time is there, go happily and with joy!
The Bible says that heaven is a good and beautiful place, there will be no more death, no sickness, no mourning, no hatred or war. The day will come when we see heaven, when we will all be gathered with our loved ones around the throne of God!

Evening, Prayer for today.
EP.i. Evening Prayer
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, [He is] my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. ⏤ Psalm 91:1-2
The best way to live a full life is to surrender all of your plans to God and let Him direct your steps. ⏤ Billy Graham
We lift up our eyes to the hills—from where does our help come? Our help comes from the Lord, who made Heaven and earth. You won’t let our foot slip; You who watch over us never sleep. You, Lord, are our keeper; You are the shade at our right hand. The sun won’t harm us by day, nor the moon by night. You, Lord, will keep us from all harm; You will watch over our lives. You will watch over our coming and going, now and forevermore!
It gives us such comfort, O God, to know that we can hide ourselves in You. We can’t protect ourselves. Even our best human friends can’t shield us from danger. No one on earth can truly shelter us. But we are safe forever in You. Nothing in the universe can take us out of Your hand. Your love is eternal. So we come at the end of this day and rest in the shadow of Your wings.
We don’t forget that there are others in the world besides ourselves. Some of them need You very much. Some are sick, some are sad, and some are grieving. There are those in great trouble—facing need, anxiety, or poverty. Have mercy on all of them. Send human friendship where it can help. Reveal Your love, grace, and mercy. Save those who don’t know You. Remember those on the sea and those in danger anywhere.
Now we lie down to sleep, asking You to keep our souls. If we should die before we wake, we ask You to take our souls. This we ask for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
