HOLY LIFE FELLOWSHIP RESENTS
BORN OF WATER AND THE SPIRIT
Part 1: A Religious Man Searching in the Dark
It was late at night when a respected religious leader came searching for answers.
His name was Nicodemus.
He knew the Scriptures. He taught others. He was admired throughout Israel.
If anyone appeared qualified to enter the kingdom of God, surely it was him.
Yet something troubled his heart.
The miracles of Jesus had awakened questions that years of religious learning could not answer.
His knowledge had not given him certainty.
His position had not given him peace.
So, under the cover of darkness, Nicodemus sought out Jesus.
Before Nicodemus could even finish introducing himself, Jesus spoke words that shattered everything he believed about salvation:
"Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3)
What an astonishing statement!
How could a man who had devoted his life to studying God's Word still lack the one thing that mattered most?
This encounter immediately exposes a truth that many still overlook today: it is possible to know the Scriptures, attend church faithfully, preach, pray, and participate in religious activities, yet never experience the new birth that Jesus declared to be absolutely essential.
The conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus is not merely a lesson about doctrine.
It is God's invitation for every one of us to examine whether our faith is rooted in outward religion or in genuine spiritual life.
To be continued...
In Part 2, we will examine why Jesus declared that no one can even see the kingdom of God unless they are born again, and what that new birth truly means.
