1 KINGS 16:8-18.
8. In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah son of Baasha became king of Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah two years.
9. Zimri, one of his officials, who had command of half his chariots, plotted against him. Elah was in Tirzah at the time, getting drunk in the home of Arza, the palace administrator at Tirzah.
10. Zimri came in, struck him down and killed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah. Then he succeeded him as king.
11. As soon as he began to reign and was seated on the throne, he killed off Baasha’s whole family. He did not spare a single male, whether relative or friend.
12. So Zimri destroyed the whole family of Baasha, in accordance with the word of the Lord spoken against Baasha through the prophet Jehu
13. because of all the sins Baasha and his son Elah had committed and had caused Israel to commit, so that they aroused the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, by their worthless idols.
14. As for the other events of Elah’s reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?
15. In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned in Tirzah seven days. The army was encamped near Gibbethon, a Philistine town.
16. When the Israelites in the camp heard that Zimri had plotted against the king and murdered him, they proclaimed Omri, the commander of the army, king over Israel that very day there in the camp.
17. Then Omri and all the Israelites with him withdrew from Gibbethon and laid siege to Tirzah.
18. When Zimri saw that the city was taken, he went into the citadel of the royal palace and set the palace on fire around him. So he died,
*TOPIC:*
INCURRING GOD'S WRATH.
*THE MESSAGE:*
Incurring God's wrath refers to actions or choices that lead to experiencing His punishment. Most of the kings of Israel turned away from God, and they never experienced peace in governance. In today's text, after the death of Baasha, his son Elah took over the throne, but Zimri killed him and wiped out his entire family as a punishment from God. When leaders provoke God to anger by engaging in grievous sins, they incur his wrath, and the whole land will be full of chaos and bloodshed. It is unfortunate for the head of a family to be the reason for calamity for his offspring. Those who encounter God's Grace will lead a reputable life and spare their children and future generations from any catastrophe. How is your life and leadership style? Do not be the reason for incurring God's wrath upon your life and your descendants.
*REFLECTION:*
Lawless people will never go unpunished.
*PRAYER:*
Lord, do not punish me as my sin deserves. Amen.
*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
HEBREWS 10:29.
How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
ISAIAH 40-43.
ED.ii. FOR WHOM DID JESUS CHRIST DIE?
"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." - Romans 5:8
Everybody on earth is infected by a disease, a disease called sin. Many do not want to repent from this disease. We often testify to others about Jesus and tell them that they can be saved, but they do not want to listen. This disease called sin came because of our own mistakes. Man has consciously rebelled against God and the entire human race has been infected by this. We humans intervene quickly if we are physically ill, but many do not want to be cured of the disease of sin. They refuse the salvation Jesus offers to get rid of sin. God wants to heal you from this disease, but if you say 'no' He cannot heal you. People do not realize that sin has a destructive influence on them and only Jesus Christ can heal from this disease.
The solution to this disease
Romans 5:8 says that Christ died for us when we were still guilty sinners. When we did not want to have anything to do with God, Jesus died for us. Isn't that great? While we were breaking God's laws and commandments, God already loved us so much that He gave His only Son. Now we can receive eternal life (see John 3:16).
Jesus came to this world and on the cross of Calvary He conquered this disease which infected the entire human race. Now we can say: 'I am victorious with Jesus. This disease no longer has any power over me.' God Himself came to this earth to give us the solution to this disease issue.
If you are not a child of God yet, consider for a while that there is Someone who gave His life for you because He loves you. Jesus proved His love to you by dying for you when you were still a guilty sinner.

2. Evening Prayer for today.
EP.i. Evening Prayer
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? ⏤ Psalm 8:3-4
God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world. ⏤ C.S. Lewis
We thank You, our Father, for the wonders of the universe that night reveals. We couldn't see the stars while it was day; they were hidden in the brightness of the light. But when the sun went down, all these glories appeared. All these are Your works, O God. It comforts us to remember that our Father made all these marvelous things. Surely You are able to take care of us, Your little children.
We also thank You for the blessings that other nights reveal. You have a thousand comforts in Your love that we don't see while the sun of prosperity shines. It's only when we have some trouble that we begin to understand the meaning of Your promises. It's only when we lose human friends that we find You as the Friend of friends. It's only when we lose earthly treasures that we begin to value the invisible treasures of Your grace. So we thank You for every loss that has revealed a gain and a blessing. We thank You for every sorrow that has made You more real to us. We thank You for the hard paths that have made us trust more fully in You. We thank You for the darkening of day that has brought out the stars of hope in our night. Help us always to believe that when You take away one blessing, You give us another that is even better.
We ask now that You will make all this day's experiences work for our good. Bless us as a family, and give each of us a personal blessing. Hold us in the arms of Your love while we sleep, and let no evil befall us. Shelter all our loved ones and hear their prayers. Bring us all home at last, through Your love, to the sinless world with You, for Jesus' sake. Amen.
