DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 207
DATE: 26TH JULY 2026
TOPIC: FIRE EXTINGUISHERS (PART 4): ARGUMENTS
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: TIMOTHY 2:23โ24 (NKJV)
"But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient."
*Devotional message:*
We continue with our series on Fire Extinguishers, learning about the things that gradually quench our spiritual fervor. Another dangerous fire extinguisher is foolish arguments and unnecessary quarrels.
The Apostle Paul repeatedly warned believers to avoid arguments that produce strife rather than spiritual growth. Many believers have lost their passion for God because they became more interested in proving themselves right than pursuing intimacy with Christ. Instead of spending time in prayer, worship, and the study of God's Word, they invest their energy in endless debates that neither edify nor strengthen their faith.
Arguments often rob us of our peace, consume our time, and distract us from our devotion to God. The more we allow bitterness, pride, and contention to occupy our hearts, the further we drift from the presence of God, who is the source of our spiritual fire. When fellowship with Him is neglected, our spiritual fervor gradually diminishes until we become cold and spiritually ineffective.
This does not mean believers should never defend the truth. Rather, we are called to do so with wisdom, humility, gentleness, and love. The servant of the Lord must avoid quarrels and instead seek to restore, instruct, and build others up. Wisdom knows when to speak, when to remain silent, and when to walk away from an argument that only produces division.
Child of God, guard your heart against unnecessary disputes. Do not allow arguments to steal the time that belongs to God. Keep your focus on Christ, remain devoted to prayer and His Word, and pursue peace with all people. As you stay connected to the Source of your fire, your passion for God will continue to burn brightly.
Foolish arguments produce strife and distract believers from intimacy with God. A heart devoted to Christ pursues peace, wisdom, and continual fellowship with Him.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to guard my heart against pride, quarrels, and unnecessary arguments. Fill me with Your wisdom so that my words may bring peace, grace, and edification. Keep me close to You, the Source of my spiritual fire, and let nothing distract me from a life of prayer, devotion, and obedience. May my life always reflect the character of Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.
