Faith allows people to do impossible things when they focus on God, but fear and doubt cause them to fail. Peter showed great courage by leaving the safety of the boat to go to Jesus. When Peter looked at the strong wind and big waves instead of Jesus, he became afraid and started to sink. When Peter cried out, "Lord, save me!", Jesus immediately caught him, showing that God helps us even when our faith is weak.
