Caution in prayer-6

Syllabus-26

"The fear of the Lord is the hatred of evil." Proverbs 8:1

God and sin cannot dwell together in a man's heart. For God is perfectly holy, and there is no sin in Him. 1 John 1:5. The Lord Jesus said, "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." Matthew 6:24.

When a person is first saved, his hatred of sin is bound to arise. If a person claims salvation, but it is seen that he has no hatred of sin, then there is considerable room for doubt about his salvation. Many times a person can accept the Lord Jesus as Savior with his own knowledge and intelligence, but that is not true salvation. Salvation is the work of the Holy Spirit. When a person is made aware of the terribleness of sin by the Word of God and he repents and decides to forsake it, then a new creation is created in his heart by the Holy Spirit. John 3:5. In such a heart, hatred of sin must arise. Because then the Holy Spirit lives in that heart. 1 Cor. 6:19. But to maintain this state at all times, we must be absorbed in reading the Word and praying. Romans 8:13 says, "For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live." When the control of the spirit decreases, the control of the flesh increases. Therefore, we need to develop the habit of praying regularly to protect our spirit.

"If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not practice the truth." 1 John 1:6.
