A centurion was a professional Roman military officer who commanded a unit of roughly 80 to 100 soldiers called a "century". He asked Jesus to heal his paralyzed servant. He declared that Jesus did not need to come to his house physically, but only "say the word", comparing Jesus' spiritual authority over disease to his own military chain of command. Jesus "marveled," stating He had not found such great faith in all of Israel. Because of his exceptional trust, his deep humility and his unique understanding of divine authority. He believed Jesus could heal from a distance with just a word, without needing to be physically present.
