THE PILGRIMS GUIDE FRIDAY JULY 31, 2026 REFLECTING GOD'S LIGHT TO THE WORLD A WORD FROM THE WORD: "This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." 1 John 1:5 NIV. Of all the attributes of God, holiness stands out. God is so holy that the Bible describes Him as light. 'This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.' (1 John 1:5 NLT). God is pure light, if He were anything less than pure light, He would not be perfect. This is the reason the LORD Jesus commands us in the Scripture to be perfect as our Father in Heaven (Matthew 5:43-48). This attribute of God is one of the virtues we inherited from Him at the point of salvation, which empowers us to be like Him. There are several other reasons why God wants us to be holy like Him, which are not limited to those listed below. He wants us to: 1). Fellowship with Him so that He can live in us (1 John 3:24); 2). Be victorious over evil (Isaiah 41:10- 11); 3). Become God's favourite (2 Corinthians 6:17-18). If you sin, Satan tells you not to let anyone know about it. On the contrary, Word of God says confess and forsake it. But you must learn to trust God to help you forsake it as you confess your sin (even now) to remain in God's Light, and a light to the world.
