We continue with our series on the Ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Another vital ministry of the Holy Spirit is that He convicts people of sin, righteousness, and judgment, leading them to genuine repentance.

Jesus taught that when the Holy Spirit came, one of His primary assignments would be to convict the world. This conviction is not meant to condemn people but to awaken them to their need for a Saviour and draw them into a right relationship with God.

The Apostle Paul asks, “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?” This reminds us that our responsibility as believers is to faithfully preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ with simplicity, truth, and love. We are called to proclaim the message, but we are not the ones who change hearts.

The work of bringing conviction belongs to the Holy Spirit. As the Word of God is preached, the Holy Spirit causes it to penetrate the hearts of those who hear. We see this on the Day of Pentecost when Peter preached the Gospel. The Scriptures record that the people were cut to the heart, and they asked, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Peter then called them to repentance, and many surrendered their lives to Christ.

This teaches us that salvation is the work of God. Our duty is to sow the seed of the Gospel faithfully, while the Holy Spirit works within the hearts of men, revealing their need for Christ and leading them to repentance.

Child of God, never underestimate the power of sharing the Gospel. Speak the truth with love and leave the results to the Holy Spirit. He alone has the power to soften hardened hearts, convict sinners, and transform lives for the glory of God.

We shall continue next Sunday by God's grace.
