The power of prayer-3

Syllabus-33

"The doors of that gate opened before them." Acts 12:10

When the proud and honorable King Herod had James killed with the sword, and saw that the Jewish community was very happy about his persecution of Christians, he became even more furious and arrested Peter and imprisoned him. He stationed 16 armed soldiers around him and chained Peter between two soldiers. He had no way of escaping. It was the Passover feast. So Herod thought that after the Passover feast, he would bring Peter and publicly execute him.

But he fell to the ground. His hope was no longer fulfilled. That night, an angel came and freed Peter from all his bonds and led him out of the prison. The iron doors swung open before them, and he was freed. But what was the power behind this event? Behind this event was the power of prayer.

On the day Peter was arrested, โ€œprayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.โ€ Acts 12:5. If the church had been lying in wait for Herod to release Peter, it would have been of no avail. Or if they had gone armed to rescue Peter, it would have been of no avail. For Herodโ€™s army was greater. In fact, they had no other way to rescue Peter. There was only one way, and that was to use the power of prayer. And they faithfully used that power. As a result, Peter was released and joined them.

We need to use the power of constant prayer to free so many of God's children today who are trapped in the deception of the devil.

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16.
