“Remove my sin and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear the sounds of joy and gladness; and though you have crushed me and broken me, I will be happy again.”
The psalmist also emphasizes his own struggle with sin. He says in verse 5-6:”I have been evil since the day I was born; from the time I was conceived I have been sinful.”
Do you see how he acknowledged his own sinful nature? He also knew that nothing but the grace of God will grant forgiveness. While trapped in sin, he longed for the days that he was happy, carefree and at peace.
Does this sound familiar? Are you also longing for times that you experienced gladness and joy? Do you feel ashamed of your wrongdoings past and present? I have a message for you. Ephesians 1:7 states: “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.”
Do you understand that you will not be lost in the darkness forever? Trust in God and grab the holy hands of Jesus Christ as he reach out to save you from the quagmire of bitterness, sorrow, hate, doubt, fear and all those bad choices you have made. Confess your sins and surrender to Him. Let the cross be the symbol of redemption for you. Remember that you are never so far gone that the loving embrace of our Lord cannot find you. Just allow Him to pull you out of the mire in which you lay. Let Him take back out of the darkness into the gentle Light if our Father.
Keep in mind though, you need to be beprepared to fight your own spiritual battle, because the devil prowls around, seeking out your vulnerableties. And he will try to entice you back into a sinful life. All those dark thoughts comes from the evil one. Keep on praying, Surrender all your troubles to God and His angels will protect you from harm.
Just trust in God. Things may look dim at the moment, but like the psalmist you need to have faith. BELIEVE. You are loved, you are cared for, you are accepted by God.
