TITLE: "BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS: GOD IS WITH YOU"
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S)
Joshua 1:9 (KJV) "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
QUOTE TO REFLECT ON
"Courage grows when we remember that God's presence is greater than our fears."
DAY'S REFLECTION
Fear can make us doubt ourselves, avoid opportunities, and become overwhelmed by circumstances. When Joshua was about to lead Israel into the Promised Land after Moses' death, God knew the assignment would be challenging. Therefore, He repeatedly commanded Joshua to "be strong and of a good courage."
To be strong means to remain firm and confident in God's ability, while courage means choosing to move forward despite fear or uncertainty. God did not promise Joshua an easy journey; He promised something greater—His presence. The assurance that "the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest" meant Joshua would never face his assignment alone.
Paul gives Timothy a similar encouragement in 2 Timothy 1:7. God has not given believers the spirit of fear, but power, love, and a sound mind. Fear paralyzes, but God's power enables us to act. Love helps us respond to people with grace rather than intimidation, while a sound mind gives us self-control, wisdom, and balanced judgment.
Life will present moments when we must make difficult decisions, face unfamiliar situations, or step into responsibilities that seem greater than our ability. At such moments, God's Word calls us not to surrender to fear but to remember who is with us and what He has placed within us.
Courage does not mean the absence of fear. It means refusing to allow fear to control your obedience to God. When God calls you forward, step forward in faith. His presence will sustain you, His power will strengthen you, His love will guide you, and His wisdom will help you make the right decisions.
Today, do not allow fear to determine your future. Be strong. Be courageous. God is with you.
MEDITATION SCRIPTURE(S)
Deuteronomy 31:8 (KJV) "And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed."
Psalm 27:1 (KJV) "The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"
LIFE LESSONS (IMPLICATIONS)
1. God's presence gives us courage to face difficult situations.
2. Fear should never be allowed to control our decisions or obedience.
3. God's power equips us to accomplish assignments beyond our natural ability.
4. A sound mind enables us to respond to challenges with wisdom and self-control.
EVERYDAY ACTION
Reject fear, pray for God's wisdom, and courageously take the next step He places before you.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, strengthen my heart and remove every spirit of fear. Fill me with Your power, love, and soundness of mind, and help me walk courageously in Your presence. In Jesus' name, Amen.
