The power of prayer-10
Syllabus-40
"I have heard that you have prayed to me concerning King Saherib of Anura." 2 Kings 19:20
When Hidiah was king of Judah, the mighty Assyrian king Sheherib gathered a large army against them and sent his commander Reshachi to demand that Israel surrender. Reshachi went and taunted their God and threatened them so that they would surrender to Sheherib. Then King Hezekiah prayed to God, saying, โO Lord, the God of Israel... Please listen and hear; open your eyes, O Lord, and see; listen to all the words that Sheherib has sent to taunt the living God.โ
Now, O Lord, please save us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, O Lord, are God alone.โ 2 Kings 19:14-19
Then he sent to Isaiah the prophet and told him all these things. Then Isaiah the prophet sent to Hezekiah, saying, โThus says the Lord, the God of Israel: โYou have prayed to me concerning King Shaerib of Assyria, and I have heard you. Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come into this city, nor shall he cast a siege rampart here, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a siege ramp against it. By the same way that he came, by the same he shall return, and he shall not come into this city, says the Lord. For I will be a shield to this city for my own sake, and for the sake of my servant David.โ 2 Kings 20:34
How did God answer Hezekiah's prayer? He sent an angel that night who went into the camp of the Assyrians and killed 185,000 soldiers. When the people got up in the morning, they were all dead bodies.
2 Kings 19:35.
"O Lord, there is none like you, who is mighty. He helps the helpless."
2 Kings 14:11
