KNOW GOD FOR YOURSELF
Personal Knowledge• Personal Faith• Personal Conviction
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE
Matthew 16:13–15 (KJV) “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” “But whom say ye that I am?”
1. DON'T DEPEND ON BORROWED FAITH
Jesus first asked what others were saying, then asked: “But whom say ye that I am?”
Your parents' faith, pastor's faith or friend's testimony cannot replace your personal relationship with God.
Don't just know about God—know God.
2. KNOW GOD THROUGH HIS WORD
John 5:39 (KJV) “Search the scriptures... and they are they which testify of me.”
1. Read the Word.
2. Study the Word.
3. Believe the Word.
4. Obey the Word.
3. KNOW GOD THROUGH WALKING WITH HIM
You know God more deeply as you pray, obey and trust Him.
Psalm 34:8 (KJV) “O taste and see that the LORD is good...”
Your personal experiences with God's faithfulness build stronger faith.
4. MAKE YOUR OWN CONFESSION
Peter answered:
Matthew 16:16 (KJV) “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Don't merely say: “People say Jesus is Lord.”
Be able to say: “Jesus is MY Lord.”
5. PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE PRODUCES STRENGTH
Daniel 11:32 (KJV) “...the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”
When you know God personally, you can stand firm when circumstances become difficult.
KEY LESSON
1. Seek God personally.
2. Study His Word.
3. Pray daily.
4. Obey His commands.
5. Trust Him in difficult seasons.
6. Build your own conviction.
FINAL CHARGE
Jesus is still asking:
“BUT WHOM SAY YE THAT I AM?”
Don't live on borrowed faith.
Know God for yourself.
Walk with Him.
Trust Him.
Serve Him.
DON'T JUST KNOW ABOUT GOD—KNOW GOD!
PRAYER
Father, help me to know You personally and deeply. Give me hunger for Your Word, strength in prayer and grace to obey You. Let my faith be genuine and personal. May I know You, trust You and remain faithful to You all my days. In Jesus' name, Amen.
