Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt in Genesis 19:26. As she and her family fled the burning city of Sodom, she disobeyed a strict warning from God's angels not to look back at the destruction and she was instantly transformed. Angels rescued Lot, his wife and their two daughters from Sodom before God rained down burning sulfur on the wicked cities. The angels told them to run for their lives to the mountains and not to look back. While fleeing, Lot's wife turned back to look at the city. She gazed back with longing, regret or attention toward the life and place they were told to leave behind. The moment she looked back, she became a pillar of salt.
