Gravenhurst also produced surgeon and activist Norman Bethune: proposed a universal health care system for Canada in 1936. AND, is highly revered as a national hero in China
(1938–1939): China. Operating in primitive, rural conditions near the front lines, he acted as a battlefield surgeon and medical educator. He regularly gave his own blood for transfusions to Chinese soldiers.
