Sunday, 30th August, 2026 TITLE: "LIVE TO GLORIFY GOD: LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE" ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S) 1 Corinthians 10:31 (KJV) "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." Matthew 5:16 (KJV) "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." QUOTE TO REFLECT ON “Live every day in such a way that your life points people to God.” DAY'S REFLECTION God has called us not merely to believe in Him, but to live for His glory. Paul says, “whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” The key word “whatsoever” shows that every area of life matters to God—not only church activities or prayer, but also our work, family, relationships, speech, decisions, and daily conduct. To glorify God means to honour, praise, and bring recognition to His goodness through the way we live. Before making a decision, we can ask: “Will this honour God?” Jesus similarly commands, “Let your light so shine before men.” Light reveals what is hidden and provides direction in darkness. As Christians, our words, attitudes, integrity, kindness, forgiveness, and good works should make God's character visible to others. Jesus does not say that we should shine so people will praise us. He says they should see our good works and “glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Our lives should point beyond ourselves to God. Life experience teaches us that people often remember what they see more than what they hear. A person may preach a powerful message, but if their daily conduct contradicts their words, their testimony loses credibility. Conversely, simple acts of honesty, kindness, humility, patience, and faithfulness can become powerful witnesses. Therefore, Christianity must be visible in our everyday behaviour. At work, be trustworthy. At home, be loving. In difficult situations, remain truthful. When offended, practise forgiveness. When blessed, remain humble. When given an opportunity to help, do good. You may be the only example of Christ that someone encounters today. Let your life shine—not for personal applause, but for God's glory. LIFE LESSONS (IMPLICATIONS) 1. Every area of our lives should bring glory to God. 2. Our behaviour is part of our Christian testimony. 3. Good works should point people to God rather than ourselves. 4. Integrity matters even when nobody is watching. 5. Our words and actions should agree with our faith. 6. A godly life can influence others more powerfully than words alone. EVERYDAY ACTION Honour God in your words. Do your work with integrity. Show kindness to someone today. Forgive rather than hold bitterness. Make one decision that clearly reflects Christ's character. PRAYER Heavenly Father, help me glorify You in everything I do. Let my words, actions, character, and good works shine before others and lead them to glorify Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen. DECLARATION My life belongs to God.
