TITLE: "FORGET THE PAST, PRESS TOWARD GOD'S NEW THING"
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S)
Philippians 3:13–14 (KJV) "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
Isaiah 43:18–19 (KJV) "Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert."
QUOTE TO REFLECT ON
“You cannot embrace God's new thing while constantly living in yesterday.”
DAY'S REFLECTION
Paul says, “forgetting those things which are behind.” Forgetting does not mean denying the past; it means refusing to let past failures, disappointments, or successes control your future.
“Reaching forth” speaks of stretching toward what God has ahead, while “press” means moving forward with determination despite difficulties.
Isaiah reminds us that God can “do a new thing.” Sometimes we miss God's new opportunity because we remain focused on an old season.
Your past may explain where you have been, but it does not have to determine where you are going. Learn from yesterday, but press forward into God's purpose for tomorrow.
MEDITATION SCRIPTURE(S)
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
Proverbs 4:25–26 (KJV) "Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established."
LIFE LESSONS (IMPLICATIONS)
1. Learn from the past, but don't live in it.
2. Believe God for a new season.
3. Keep moving despite setbacks.
4. Focus on God's purpose ahead.
5. Trust God to make a way.
EVERYDAY ACTION
Release yesterday, embrace today, and press forward with faith.
PRAYER
Father, help me release the past and embrace the new things You are doing. Give me strength to press forward into Your purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen.
DECLARATION
I release the past and press forward. God is doing a new thing in my life. He is making a way for me, and I will fulfil His purpose. Amen!
