Good evening, brethren.
1. Evening devotion for today.
ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)
*DATE:*
FRIDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER, 2026
*SUB-THEME:*
THE FAMILY AND THE GRACE OF GOD.
*TOPIC:*
CHILDREN: GIFT FROM GOD.
*TEXT:*
PSALM 127:3-5.
3 Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are children born in one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. He will not be put to shame when he confronts the enemies at the gate.
*TOPIC:*
CHILDREN: GIFT FROM GOD.
*THE MESSAGE:*
Children are gifts from God. Our text describes them as heritage and a reward from the Lord. Couples should thank and praise God for all children, regardless of whether they are desired gender or not. God is all-knowing, and His Gifts are good. It is painful to see some parents acting inhumanly to the children God gave them. Neglecting and maltreating them does not please God. Know that you will be accountable to God for how you treat your children. Parents should not give up on a child who misbehaves, but treat them with love that combines reproof and restoration. Parents should not abdicate their responsibilities to others or abandon them to the streets. Parents, how do you treat your children? Check and amend where necessary.
*REFLECTION:*
Cherish God's gift of children in your home.
*PRAYER:*
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of children. Amen.
*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
PROVERBS 3:34.
He mocks proud mocker but gives grace to the humble and oppressed.
*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
HOSEA 9-11.
ED.ii. A CONSTRUCTIVE MEDICINE
"I will never leave you nor forsake you." - Joshua 1:5
Today I have a medicine for God's servants and all God's children. This medicine is a constructive one. I would like to bring this forward, because many are tired while others do not know how to move on. There are even Christians who think God has abandoned them. However, today I would like to give you this constructive prescription.
In Joshua 1:5 we read: 'No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.'
Joshua was a man of great faith and it was this faith which brought him and Caleb in the promised land. The time for a new task for Joshua has come. His task is to lead the people of Israel across the Jordan and to bring them into the promised land, the land of milk and honey. When Joshua is about to face this, the Lord God comes and speaks these words to Joshua: 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'
God does not leave you
There had been major problems during Moses' time and there were also major problems in the days of Joshua. Today too there are major problems. However, new problems bring new protection, because God is the same. He protected Moses, He protected Joshua and He also protects you, me and all His children. Even in difficult times we can thank God, because He is with us and He will not abandon us.
Expect new things
Danger and disappointment only bring us Divine opportunities to open new doors. Now is the time for God to open these new doors. I expect God to do new things, to raise new leaders and to fill new youth with the Holy Spirit. We do not only need young people, but also 'old-timers' in order to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ together. Joshua had to fight against the enemy. What is impossible with man is possible with God.

2. Evening Prayer for today.
EP.i Evening Prayer
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse Kama Emma hands, [ye] sinners; and purify Kama Emma hearts, [ye] double minded. ⏤ James 4:8
God shapes the world by prayer. ⏤ E.M. Bounds
O God, our Father, we hunger for more life. We have gone through this day longing for life, yet how little life we have had! Our souls have felt empty of You. Our hearts have been crying out for more and more life. Reveal Yourself to us. Bring us into closer and closer personal friendship with Jesus. This is what we crave—friendship with Jesus. It is not enough for us to know Jesus as our Savior and our Lord; we long to come into deeper and closer personal friendship with Him.
Show us how to have more of Jesus in us. Whatever hinders us from welcoming Him into our hearts, help us to find it and cast it out, so that Jesus may receive a glad welcome into our deepest affection.
May we be blessed by the experiences of today. May they all work for our good. Some things have not gone according to our plans. We hoped for things we did not receive. Help us to know that Your way is better than ours, and help us to cheerfully give up our way for Yours. If we are not fully submissive, forgive us, and teach us how good it is to accept our Father’s way.
We pray for Your church. It is in many fragments; we pray that soon Your people may be one. Bring Christians nearer together in love, faith, and life. While there is separation, may You overrule all divisions for good. May hearts be drawn together, and thus may Your people become one in spirit and effort. Save Your true disciples everywhere from sectarianism and from all that fosters differences. May Your Holy Spirit be given in such measure that all denominational lines may melt away. Hear us in our prayer tonight, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
