DAY 5 - Morning
Theme: GROWING IN UNDERSTANDING: Learning to see your spouse through the eyes of love.

Reflection
UNDERSTANDING REQUIRES PATIENCE

Good Morning!
People don't change overnight.
Neither do marriages.
Your spouse may have habits formed over many years.
They may have grown up in a home where emotions were not openly discussed.
They may have learned to handle problems differently from you.
Perhaps you grew up in a home where everyone talked things through immediately.
Your spouse may have grown up where people became quiet until emotions settled.
Now you are married.
One wants to talk.
The other wants space.
One sees silence as rejection.
The other sees silence as a way of preventing an argument.
Understanding requires patience.
Instead of saying:
"Why can't you be like me?"
learn to ask:
"Help me understand how you see this."
Marriage is not about turning your spouse into a copy of yourself.
It is about learning how two different people can become one without losing the value of their individuality.

God's Word
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." — Ephesians 4:2

Today's Love Action
When your spouse responds differently from you today, resist the urge to criticize.
Instead say:
"Help me understand."

Let's Talk
What difference between us have I learned to appreciate rather than criticize?

Prayer
Lord, give us patience with each other's differences. Help us understand our backgrounds, personalities and ways of responding to life. Teach us to grow together without trying to destroy the uniqueness You placed in each of us. Amen.

From The Counselor's Chair
Difference does not automatically mean incompatibility.
Sometimes the very differences that challenge us can teach us patience, flexibility and maturity.

Marriage Nugget
"Marriage is not about finding someone exactly like you; it is about learning to love someone who is wonderfully different from you."

Remember
In marriage, it is not about winning the argument; it is about winning each other's hearts.
