Devotion: Romans 10:17
“So then, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message comes through preaching Christ.”
In order for us to live in faith, we need to study the Word of God. Faith grows through knowledge of miracles performed, prophecies given and history told by the authors of the Bible. The Bible is where you will find the promises of God. Promises that He will keep, for God is no liar.
Your faith can therefore grow by doing the following:
Read your Bible – Romans 15:4: “Everything in the Scriptures was written to teach us, in order that we might have hope through the patience and encouragement which the Scriptures give us.”
Listen to testimonies of faith – John 4:39: “Many of the Samaritans in that town believed in Jesus because the woman had said, ‘He told me everything I have ever done.” 2 Peter 1:16 & 17: “We have not depended on made-up stories in making known to you the mighty coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We were there…..”
Miracles are a source of hope for the faithful – Remember when Elijah prayed to God to light up the fire on his altar? God sent fire from the heavens and burnt the sacrifice in front of the people. 1 Kings 18:39: “When the people saw this, they threw themselves on the ground and exclaimed: ‘The LORD is God; the LORD alone is God!”
Remember that faith is a gift from God – Romans 12:3: “….judge yourself according to the amount of faith that God has given you.” Acts 14: 27: “…he had opened the way for the Gentiles to believe.”

When was the last time that you actually studied the Word of God? If it has been a while, you should not be surprised that your faith is faltering. You cannot expect your faith to thrive if you do nothing to sustain it.
Matthew 7:7: “Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.”
