Blessed Frédéric Ozanam
He was born on April 23, 1813 to Jean Ozanam (father) and Marie Ozanam (mother). He went to Paris to study law as desired by his father. When one of his club friends asked Frederic Ozanam "what else you are doing except trying to prove your faith, you claim in you". These words by a friend changed his mind and life style and he started to help poor people. He married Amelia Soulacrois on June 23, 1841 and they had a daughter by name Marie. The Government of France asked Ozanam to supervise the aid to the poor granted by the Government in 1848. He started a newspaper The New Era and dedicated it to the welfare of the poor. He founded with fellow students the Conference of Charity, later known as the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in 1833. He died on September 8, 1853.
Frederic Ozanam was beatified by the Pope on August 22, 1997.
