God's patience towards sinners.
Revelation 2 [RSV]
[vs: 21] I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her immorality.
This verse continues Christ warning to jezebel the false prophetess in thyatira church , what was striking is that despite the seriousness of her sin and the danger she posed to others, Christ gave her time to repent.
*God gives sinners time to repent; the words "I gave her time to repent " reveals the mercy of God. God does not judge sinners immediately because he is not willing that any should perish, He gives them time to recognize their evils and errors , turn from sin and return unto him , God's patience and delay of judgement should not be interpreted as an approval of sin but as an expression of mercy giving sinners an opportunity to repent.
We should not think that God approved the errors of false teachers just because He has not judge them yet.
*But she refuses to repent; The tragic words are"and she refuses to repent". The sinner who continues in his sins and refuses to repent after many warnings will eventually exhaust God's period of mercy giving to him. God's waiting time for mercy is not without limit, therefore the sinner should repent while yet he may and not wait until it is too late.
