Revelation 2 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 25] But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
This verse contains a solemn instruction to faithful believers not only in thyatira but tthrough out the church age, those who have received salvation through faith in Christ and desire to be to be faithful to Him must guide what they have received and refuse to surrender the truth for the sake of deceptive teachings.
1-we must persevere in the truth we have already received no matter the new doctrines springing up these last days.
2-our perseverance must continue untill Christ comes, our Christian journey is a race that must be run until the finishing line,we must therefore continue in faith, obedience , holiness and steadfastness until the rapture or we are called home through death.
Applications:
Have you seek and received any spiritual blessings from the Lord?
2, Are you holding it firmly?

The faithful remnant in a compromised church
Revelation 2 [RSV]
[vs: 24] But to the rest of you in Thyati′ra, who do not hold this teaching, who have not learned what some call the deep things of Satan, to you I say, I do not lay upon you any other burden;
This verse is encouraging because after strongly rebuking jezebel the false prophetess and her followers , Christ distinguishes the unfaithful and faithful believers in thyatira.
1,But to the rest of you in thyatira: Christ now turns his attention to "the rest" -those believers in thyatira who have not accepted Jezebel's teachings , this is important , Christ does not condemn everyone in a compromised church simply because some people have fallen into error ,He knows those who remain faithful to him
*2,who hold not this teaching.the word "this teaching" refers to jezebel teaching described in verse 20.
her teaching was leading believers into error and sin, eating things sacrificed to idols and committing fornication , Christ therefore commends those who have not accepted this teaching
*3, who have not learned the deep things of Satan .
many times false prophets presents their teachings as a deeper revelation,a secret made known only to them.a higher knowledge or dreams . every thing we need to know has been revealed to us by God in his word, the Bible is the complete and final revelation from God,we should be wary of extra scriptural revelations and avoid teachings and practices that fails the test of scripture.spiritual dept must not be used as a substitute for biblical truth.
*4,i lay not to you any other burden.
There is no more burden from Christ to the faithful believers in thyatira, they had already demostrated charity, faith, endurance, service and spiritual growth , doing more than they had done in the past (19),they had also remain faithful refusing to embrace the false teachings that had corrupted others among them.their responsibility therefore now was to hold firmly to what they already had and remain faithful to Christ .

Dreadful judgement for for followers of false prophets .
Revelation 2 [NIV]
[vs: 23] I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.
This verse continues Christ solemn warning to jezebel (the false prophetess) and those who followed her , after giving them time to repent.
1, and I will kill her children with death.
The expression "her children" naturally refers to those who embrace and followed Jezebel's teachings and practices when God judges false prophets he also judges those who follows their errors.
2, "And all the church shall know" Christ judgment will serve as a testimony to all the churches, God's past judgement is meant to be a warning to those who continues to do evil though they haven't been judged yet.the apparent success of false prophets should not deceive us neither should we believe them just because of their influence, fame and number of followers . Christ is aware of their activities and in due time they will be judged by the Lord if they fail to repent.
3,I am he which searches the heart and mind. This statement of Christ confirms his divinity, only God can search and know the mind of everyone.
4, and I will repay each of you according to your works, Christ declares that his judgment will be personal and individual and not collective. Each person will be held accountable for his deeds ,no body can hid behind a denomination, church leader or religious movement.while false teachers will answer for the deception they have caused , their followers will also answer for their own response to the truth.
Application.
A,we must not follow religious teachers who contradicts the truth as it revealed in the Bible.
B,the judgement that has come to others should serve to make us to do away with anything that will make us liable to God's judgement.

THE INEVITABLE JUDGMENT UPON THE UNREPENTANT.
Revelation 2 [RSV]
[vs: 22] Behold, I will throw her on a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her doings;
In the previous verse we saw how the Lord in his mercy gave the false prophetess time to repent of her evils but she refused ,now the time of mercy is giving way to judgment, the Lord is bringing judgement not only upon her but on those that she has decieved by her false teachings and seductions. This reveals a sobering truth, God will judge both the deciever and the decieved, the false prophets and teachers with their followers, when the devil will be cast into hell all who obey and follow him will be cast there together with him to suffer with him for all eternity.
*Key truths:
1,God will certainly judge sin.
2, those who rejects God's offer of forgiveness through repentance and faith in Jesus will face his judgement
3.it is only by repentance that we can avoid the consequences of sin .
4, true repentance involves both sorrow for the past and a turning away from sinful way of life .
5, there is no promise of mercy from God for the unrepentant sinner .

God's patience towards sinners.
Revelation 2 [RSV]
[vs: 21] I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her immorality.
This verse continues Christ warning to jezebel the false prophetess in thyatira church , what was striking is that despite the seriousness of her sin and the danger she posed to others, Christ gave her time to repent.
*God gives sinners time to repent; the words "I gave her time to repent " reveals the mercy of God. God does not judge sinners immediately because he is not willing that any should perish, He gives them time to recognize their evils and errors , turn from sin and return unto him , God's patience and delay of judgement should not be interpreted as an approval of sin but as an expression of mercy giving sinners an opportunity to repent.
We should not think that God approved the errors of false teachers just because He has not judge them yet.
*But she refuses to repent; The tragic words are"and she refuses to repent". The sinner who continues in his sins and refuses to repent after many warnings will eventually exhaust God's period of mercy giving to him. God's waiting time for mercy is not without limit, therefore the sinner should repent while yet he may and not wait until it is too late.

THYATIRA, THE TOLERANT CHURCH
Revelation 2 [NIV]
[vs: 20] Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.
Despite of all the qualities in thyatira church, they have one weakness which undermines the good things found in them(torelance)
Tolerance can be defined as -sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or conflicting with one's own , or the allowable devietion from a standard :
Though these church has faith, love and perseverance and do service for God but when one rises up among them who teaches doctrines that is a devietion from the standard of the Scripture they allowes it and this leads many of God's children astray and causes backsliding among them.
One of the greatest weapon of the devil and danger against the church today is false teachings tought by false prophets and teachers. The devil has sent many false prophets and teachers into the church today to counter the truth, cause confusion among ignorant Christians and cause many to perish .
We should not in any way tolerate any teaching, beliefs or practices that contradicts the word of God if we are going to be saved at last.

THE COMMENDABLE QUALITIES OF THE CHURCH IN THYATIRA
Revelation 2 [NIV]
[vs: 19] I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.
The Lord commended the church in thyatira for several remarkable qualities that were evident in their Christian lives: their deeds, love, faith , service and perseverance . Even more encouraging was the fact that they were not declining spiritually ; rather they were growing and doing more than they had done at first .
It is comforting to know that Christ sees and knows every good thing we do and will reward us accordingly, therefore we should continue to serve God and others in love with faith and perseverance knowing that the Lord will reward every faithful labour done for his name. We should continually seek and pray for the grace of God that our life will be characterized by these qualities in the church of thyatira .
True faith in God produces love for Him and others; and that love is demostrated through obedience and service to him and sustained by perseverance .

THE POWES CONTENDING OVER YOU:
Jude 1 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 9] Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
In this verse we are given a glimpse into a spiritual conflict between two powerful beings-micheal the archangel and the devil- over the body of Moses. this reveals that behind the physical world there are real spiritual battles
*Satan the adversary of God and man is constantly working to harm God's people, his aim is to attack against the whole man- spirit, soul and body.
However this verse also shows us something comforting,: God concern for his people is complete, he is not just interested in saving our soul but also cares for our body and every details of our life , he knows even the numbers of our hair
*God promise protection ,he send his angels to encamp round about those that fear him , ensuring that the devil does not prevail over them, angels are ministering spirit unto heirs of salvation ,they are mighty and operates under his authority far above demons and their master the devil.
"The body of Moses .
Moses is the man of God,he is the servant of God and he belongs to God that is the reason God could not allow the devil to do anything against him , even against his dead body.in the same way those that belong to God are under his divine protection .
this brings us to a vital truth , our security is found in belonging to God
when we forsake our sins and receive Christ into our hearts, we become his children and he will never allow the enemy to triumph over us ,Sin is devils identification mark and anyone who still holds to his sins exposes himself to the onslaught of Satan but they that are Christ's are always safe.

Christ mission to the world
1 John 4 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 14] And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
John and others who wrote about Jesus were eyes witnesses of all he taught and deed in his earthly ministry, he saved them and every one who came to him by faith and they heard him declare so clearly his mission of coming to the world "to save mankind from sin and it's eternal consequence"( Mathew 18:11).it was God the father who planned our salvation and lovingly reach out to us by sending his son , the coming of Jesus, his death and resurrection was not an accident but was God's mission of love to rescue mankind from sin , the chief purpose of Christ coming was not just to be a teacher or a miracle worker but to save and deliver us from the penalty and power of sin , Jesus accomplished our salvation by his death on the cross for us and by his resurrection from death, his salvation is not limited to group or nation -he is the saviour of the whole world , meaning all who believes in him regardless of race, background or past , this emphasizes the scope of God's love and salvation. Whosoever believeth in him shall be saved ,
Reflections:
1, Jesus is the only saviour
2, salvation is for everyone who repent and believes in him
3, do you know and are sure that you have been saved?
4, are you preaching to others so that they can be saved?

WHO CHRIST IS AND WHAT HE HAS.
Revelation 2 [NIV]
[vs: 18] “To the angel of the church in Thyatira write:These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze.
*What the Bible is.
This are the words of the Son of God.
The Bible is the words of the Son of God, the words of the Spirit of God and the words of God the Father,it is the uniform declaration and testimony of the triune God,it is not the words, opinions or thoughts of men.
*Who Christ is.
The Son of God.
Christ has many titles and names that describe his identity, abilities and authority but in this verse he describes himself as the" Son of God" this speaks of his divinity . He is the express image of the father and the brightness of his glory, one with the father, God manifested in the flesh.
*What Christ has.
Who has eyes like flaming fire and feet like burnished bronze.
1, eyes like flaming fire.
This speaks of Christ omniscience,he sees everything , open and hidden,he sees every secret, motives, faithfulness and compromise
2,feets like burnished bronze. this speaks of his power and ability to subdue every enemy and brings everyone and everything to reckoning and judgment,.
*Applicationsi.
If Christ were to examine my heart today with his penetrating eyes, what would he see? Sin or righteousness? faithfulness or compromise? something worth of commendations or condemnations?

A CALL TO HEAR AND OBEY
Revelation 2 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 17] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;...........
The book of revelation and the whole Bible is the word of God revealed to the church by his holy prophets and apostles, they are words of truth.the word of God demands our utmost attention and obedience because it carries eternal consequences.
There is a difference between hearing the sound of God's word and hearing it with a heart ready to obey . What Christ is saying in effect in this verse is "do not merely listen to my word, take it seriously and respond to it. We can hear sermons, read the Bible , listen to Christian teachings and even agree with what we hear , yet fail to act upon it.
True spiritual hearing involves attention, understanding and obedience , hearing God's word carries a responsibility to respond . To be truly blessed is not just hearing the word but obeying what the Lord says.

A WARNING TO REPENT BEFORE JUDGEMENT
Revelation 2 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 16] Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
This verse is a solemn warning to the church that have allowed false teachers and doctrines among them , Christ therefore calls them to repentance before judgement comes.
*Repent: Christ is not merely asking them to feel sorry for what they have done but to turn away from their sins and return in obedience to God
2*or else I will come unto thee quickly.
God patience with the sinner should not be mistaken for approval of their evil, if his call to repentance is persistently refused his judgement will certainly fall on the unrepentant.
3"1 will fight against them : when any church or a so called Christian persist in falsehood , compromise and sin they place themselves in opposition to Christ and risk his wrath .
4*with the sword of my mouth: Christ judges with his word just as he saves us by faith in his word, those who refuse to obey his loving plea to repent will be judged and condemned by his word at last.
*Key truths:
1*False doctrines leads to sin and compromise and attracts divine judgement .
2, The only escape from God's judgement is repentance from all known sin.
3*There is mercy and forgiveness from God for every one who repents

The things the Lord have against us.
Revelation 2 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 14] But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
These verse reveals to us that though the Lord is always glad of some good things we have done there may some areas in our life which he is not happy with, we should not be content in the areas we are doing well but should strive to be sound in all areas of our spiritual life.
"What are the areas that Christ is not happy with the pergamos church?
1,torerance of false prophets and teachers.
2, permission of false doctrines .
3, accepting practices that became stumbbling blocks among them
4, eating things sacrificed to idols
5, prevailing acts of fornication.
From all these we understand that when any church or individual begins to allow false prophets and teachers and their teachings the results will be backsliding and sins
there is a strong connection between false doctrines and a lifestyle of sin.
*Any doctrine that downplays sin, make sin less serious than it is, excuses sin, make people to fear not God's judgement against sin, teaches that grace covers our sinful lifestyle is a false doctrine.
False teachers being religious secret sinners can only lead the people that hears them to error, sin and damnation.
Application:
We should not hear , believes or follow those that teaches any doctrine that contradicts the biblical truths .

What is salvation
Ephesians 2 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Salvation is God loving act of
rescuing mankind from sin and it's consequences . Man is separated from God because of sin and can not save himself but in his great mercy God sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins and rise again offering forgiveness and a new life to all who believes.
Salvation is not earned by good works , religious efforts or moral behavior, it is a gift of God's grace received through faith in Jesus Christ , when a person acknowledge and repents of his sins , confess them to God puting his faith in Jesus Christ and receive him into his heart , he is forgiven , justified and brought into relationship with God,
Salvation delivers us from the penalty of sin , gives us victory over its power and assures us of eternal life with God.
True salvation also brings transformation of life , those who are saved walks in obedience, holiness and love.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of salvation through your son Jesus Christ , I acknowledge my sin and I can not save myself, I trust fully in your grace , save me now, change my life and make my your child from today, in Jesus name I pray Amen
