🕊️ DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 252 DATE: 9TH SEPTEMBER 2026 TOPIC: THE HEART OF GIVING_3 ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: MATTHEW 6:3–4 (NKJV) “But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.” Devotional message: Yesterday, we looked at the importance of giving ourselves to God as a priority before giving our gifts. Today, we need to examine another important question: Who is the audience of our giving? Jesus teaches us that when we give, we should give unto the Lord and not unto men. Our giving should be directed toward God, even when it is expressed through helping people, supporting God's work, or meeting the needs of others. Therefore, we should not give merely to be seen, praised, honored, or respected by men. Jesus warned against practicing righteousness merely to be seen by people. He taught that those who give for human recognition have already received their reward—the recognition they were seeking. Their applause becomes their reward, but they miss the greater reward that comes from God. This is why Jesus says that when we give, we should do so in secret, knowing that our heavenly Father sees what is done in secret and rewards openly. The fact that men may not see your giving does not mean God does not see it. Your generosity may go unnoticed by people, but it never goes unnoticed by God. The audience of your giving therefore matters. If your primary audience is men, their recognition may become your reward. But if your audience is God, you can give even when nobody knows, applauds, or celebrates you. Child of God, do not turn your giving into a performance. You do not need an audience when God is your audience. Give because you love God, because you care about people, because you desire to advance His Kingdom, and because you recognize that everything you have ultimately comes from Him. Let your giving be known in heaven, even if it remains unknown on earth.And remember: whatever you do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord and not to men (Colossians 3:23). The value of our giving is not determined by how many people see it, but by the heart and audience behind it. Give unto the Lord, not for human recognition, applause, or showmanship. Tomorrow, by God's grace, we shall continue looking at some of the rewards and blessings Scripture associates with giving. PRAYER Lord,Give me a generous heart that loves Your work, cares for the needy, and advances Your Kingdom without seeking human applause. May everything I give bring glory to Your name.
