**Having grace doesn't mean you should keep sinning**
"I have grace," "Jesus loves me just the way I am" — and using that as a shield to keep going in the exact same sin as always.
Having grace doesn't mean you should keep sinning. When Jesus forgave the woman caught in adultery, He didn't stop at grace. He followed it with a command: *"go, and sin no more"* (John 8:11). Forgiveness isn't the finish line — it's the starting point for a different life.
If you received forgiveness and keep the same practice, the same way, without any struggle, without any change, you haven't understood grace. You've just found a comfortable excuse to keep sinning.
Jesus had harsh words for those who lived on appearances: *"Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also"* (Matthew 23:25-26). So many people today are cups washed on the outside — they go to church, they pray, they post Bible verses — but inside they carry envy, lust, lies, pride, with no intention of changing at all.
God isn't impressed by your outside alone. He wants the inside clean, and the outside obeying what He commands.
*"He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him"* (1 John 2:9-10). It isn't what you say that proves who you are — it's how you live, how you treat others, whether your life reflects what your mouth declares.
Jesus helps those who do what He commands: *"And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"* (Luke 6:46). You can call Jesus Lord all day long, but if your life doesn't obey what He taught, that relationship is just words.
Being a child of God isn't about carrying the title. If you recognized yourself in this text, the question isn't whether you love Jesus — it's whether you do what He commands.
