Good evening, brethren.
1. Evening devotion for today.
ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)
*DATE:*
FRIDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER, 2026.
*SUB-THEME:*
THE FAMILY AND THE GRACE OF GOD.
*TOPIC:*
FULFILLING MARITAL DUTY.
*TEXT:*
1 CORINTHIANS 7:3-5, 10.
3. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.
4. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife.
5. Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
10. To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.
*TOPIC:*
FULFILLING MARITAL DUTY.
*THE MESSAGE:*
Sex is God's gift to married people for their pleasure. It is a marital duty that both husband and wife must seek to fulfil. Their bodies belong to each other, and none of them has the right to deprive the other or treat it with contempt. Depriving your partner of your body without any mutual consent gives room for Satan to step into your marriage. Fulfilling marital duties is difficult when couples live separately. For this reason, couples should make a greater effort to avoid such distancing. Additionally, every couple should avoid any situation that may prevent them from fulfilling their marital duties. Do not deprive your partner with the intention to punish. Are you guilty of denying your spouse? Have a rethink and do the needful so that you live peacefully.
*REFLECTION:*
Fulfil your marital duty.
*PRAYER:*
Lord, help me to fulfil my marital responsibilities. Amen.
*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
PROVERBS 3:34.
He mocks proud mocker but gives grace to the humble and oppressed.
*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
AMOS 8-9.
ED.ii. HEALING LEAVES
"Flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations." - Revelation 22:1-2
The first inheritance man received from God after he was created was a beautiful garden, the Garden of Eden - a paradise that lacked nothing. It was the image of the heavenly paradise with beautiful flowers and trees with delicious fruits.
As you know man was banished from the garden, when he sinned. Angels were placed at the entrance to guard the tree of life so man would not eat from it (see Genesis 3:24). Mankind lost the paradise because of the disobedience of the first Adam. The second Adam, the Lord Jesus Christ, has reclaimed that paradise for us.
The new Jerusalem
In the book of Revelation, the Bible speaks about the New Jerusalem which will descend from heaven. In that city you see the throne of God and from that throne flows a crystal clear river, full of the water which gives life. On both sides of that river are trees with healing leaves. It will be a paradise, because 'no longer will there be any curse' (Revelation 22:3).
This is amazing. Everything is holy and healthy. In that city there is God the Father and there is Jesus Christ who loves us with an eternal love. There will be our loved ones who have gone before us. We have the assurance that we will see them with our Lord and Savior around the throne.
In this New Jerusalem there are even healing leaves. I will never have to say: 'I am sick.' The Bible says that there will not be any sickness in the New Jerusalem. That is the case because in the middle of that city is the tree of life. Jesus says in John 10:10: 'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.'

2. Evening Prayer for today.
EP.i. Evening Prayer
Come unto me, all [ye] that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ⏤ Matthew 11:28
God delights to answer prayer because it is His nature to be good and to show mercy. ⏤ Arthur Pink
We hear Your voice this evening inviting us to come to You for rest. We need rest, and we thank You for Your ordinance of night, when we can cease our labors and find renewal of strength in the quiet of the evening. We thank You for sleep, which refills nature's exhausted fountains, and renews the life that has been used in the day's experiences. May You give us blessing in sleep tonight.
We thank You also for the spiritual rest You give to those who come to You. You alone can give us this rest. You alone can take away sin and the consciousness of guilt and deliver us from sin's penalty and power. You alone can give us rest in the assurance of Your love and Your power to make all things work together for our good. Give us Your peace. We do not ask for all care to be removed from our lives, but for so much of Your life in us that, come what may, our souls shall be quiet in You. As we learn from You, may we find rest for our souls.
In the darkness, may You hide us and shelter us. Let no harm befall us. Keep our dwelling from danger. Preserve us all in good health. Sanctify to us all the experiences of this day. Bless all that we have done, and use the words we have spoken. Forgive our mistakes, follies, and all our sins.
We ask for blessings on all our friends. Bless our friendships and make them more and more tender, constant, and true. May we all be Your friends—faithful, true, and constant. Help us to receive Your friendship into our hearts, and may its blessing enrich our lives. Forgive us, and grant us Your protecting care this night. We ask in Jesus' precious name. Amen.
