TRUSTWORTHINESS IN PRAYER 1

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen....for your Father knows what you need before you ask him." Matthew 6:6-8 NIV.

Trustworthiness in prayer involves expressing your true and real self before God, acknowledging your vulnerabilities and weaknesses, this requires humility, as you recognise that you are utterly dependent on Him for your needs and life. Your Father is impressed by the sincerity of your heart and not by empty words or grand gestures.

Being trustworthy in prayer can be achieved by sincerely taking a moment to examine your prayer life, ascertain whether your approaches to God in the place of prayer are with pure heart; laying bare your true emotions, feelings and thoughts. You should endeavour to be real, not putting on a facade, or trying to appear 'holier-than-thou.' Don't forget that God sees your heart, and meets you right at the point where you are.

PRAYER BULLETS:

ABBA Father, help me to let go of any pretence in my prayers and to approach You in honesty with my weaknesses and vulnerabilities. I trust that You already know what I need, I rest in Your loving care.

FURTHER READING:

1 Samuel 16:7; Luke 18:9-14; Romans 8:26-27; James 4:3.
