Good evening, brethren.

1. Evening devotion for today.

ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

*DATE:*
SUNDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER, 2026.

*SUB-THEME:*
THE FAMILY AND THE GRACE OF GOD.

*TOPIC:*
FAITHFULNESS IN MARRIAGE.

*TEXT:*
MALACHI 2:13-15.
13 “This is another thing you do: you flood the altar of the LORD with tears, weeping and wailing because He no longer pays attention to your offering nor takes pleasure in it from your hand.
14 Yet you ask, ‘For what reason?’ Because the LORD acts as a witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you were unfaithful to her, your partner, the wife of your covenant. [Gen 2:23] [1Co 7:10]
15 Did He not make them one? And the vestige of the spirit remains in Him. And why did He make them one? He was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and don’t be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.

*TOPIC:*
FAITHFULNESS IN MARRIAGE.

*THE MESSAGE:*
God is faithful to His promises to man not because of any good man has done but His mercy. God demands faithfulness in marriage. Husband and wife must not take lightly or downplay the bond that is between them. Couples must be committed to maintaining a satisfying intimacy and always being captivated by each other. Unfortunately, some husbands are captivated by adulteresses. They seek to find pleasure in other women rather than their wives. Women are not left out of this sin either. Know that God never intends marriages to be boring, pleasureless, and dull. God is pleased when you are faithful (Prov. 3:3-4). Are you guilty of infidelity? Stop it! Make God happy by being faithful.

*REFLECTION:*
The marriage bed must be kept pure.

*PRAYER:*
Lord, help me to be committed to my spouse. Amen.

*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
PROVERBS 3:34.
He mocks proud mocker but gives grace to the humble and oppressed.

*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
JONAH 1-2.

ED.i. THE PRECIOUS COMFORTING LOVE OF GOD

"And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever." - John 14:16

Jesus calls the Holy Spirit our Helper or Comforter. A comforter is someone who assists and encourages you in times of need, pain and misery. It reminds me of a loving father or mother who watches over the child. When I was young and afraid of the storm, I crawled far under the bed cover. But when the storm did not stop, I went to my mother and was allowed to hide close to her in her large bed while she was comforting me. I then felt safe. How sad is it that there are children who have never had such a person to look after them! This is what a comforter does.

The Holy Spirit is the Comforter

The Holy Spirit comforts your soul in the same way. He makes sure that your soul feels safe with Him. Jesus spoke about the Holy Spirit as a Comforter because He knew that times would come when the disciples would need a genuine Comforter.

Today too we see that Christians need a genuine Comforter in their lives. There is a lot of sadness and struggle. I sometimes hear people say: 'Yes, but I don't notice this especially now that I need a comforter.'

And yet, dear readers, the Holy Spirit comforts you, because time and again He allows you to experience that He is there for you. However, it is so important to walk by faith and to believe what God said: 'I will never leave you nor forsake you. I will be with you all the days of your life.'

While you do not feel anything yet, you will still thank God and tell Him that you trust His Word. Then suddenly you will come out of that dark tunnel, there is light around you, and you receive peace and joy. God will comfort you with His precious love!

2. Evening prayer for today.

EP.i. Evening Prayer

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. ⏤ Hebrews 4:9

Prayer is the ascent of the soul to God. ⏤ John Bunyan

Our heavenly Father, help us to draw near to You this evening. Our thoughts wander so easily that it is hard for us to bring them into a reverent attitude. Our lives gravitate earthward. The old nature in us is strong. The influences around us are worldly. When we would do good—evil is present with us. We cannot even pray without Your help. Help us, O God. Have mercy upon us, and draw us by Your Spirit to Yourself. Enable us to commune with You. Put into our hearts holy thoughts, and may we breathe them back to You in prayers. Fill us with Your love—and then we shall be loving as You are.

We beseech You, our Father, to make this Sunday truly a day of blessing and good in our lives. Our minds have been turned to holy things; may we be holier through all the week because of this. May our minds carry the sacred memories of the day, and may they be like sweet songs singing in us wherever we go. May invisible spiritual things be more real to us because of these Sunday hours. May the hold of the world upon us be loosened, and may its power over us be lessened through this day’s holy influences. So may abiding blessing be ours, as we leave another Sunday behind us, and may our lives attest to the reality of our union with You.

We thank You for the hope of the eternal rest of which this earthly day is a token and a pledge. Prepare us for that rest which remains for Your people. May the influence of this heavenly hope draw upon us mightily while we journey through this world. May its holiness keep us from sinning. May we get nearer in heart and life to You each day as we draw nearer each day to Your glory. We ask in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
