Good evening, brethren.
1. Evening devotion for today.
ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)
*DATE:*
MONDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER, 2026.
*SUB-THEME:*
THE FAMILY AND THE GRACE OF GOD..
*TOPIC:*
SHOWING RESPECT.
*TEXTS:*
EPHESIANS 5:33, 1 PETER 3:6.
*EPHESIANS 5:33.*
33. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
*1 PETER 3:6.*
6. like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.
*TOPIC:*
SHOWING RESPECT.
*THE MESSAGE:*
It is the grace of God that enables two people from different backgrounds to live together mutually. God commanded husbands to love their wives as they love themselves. Likewise, the wife must also respect her husband. Loving your wife means treating her well and providing all her needs as the Lord provides. Like Sarah, women are instructed to honour, respect, and obey their husbands in all seasons of their marital journey. Disrespect can lead to quarrels, insults, physical violence, and all sorts of harm. These attitudes conflict with God's will for marriage. How is the situation in your family? Husband, know that love motivates respect. Wife, do not shout at your husband or reject his counsel. Learn to live by biblical injunctions and enjoy your marriage.
*REFLECTION:*
Respect each other.
*PRAYER:*
Lord Jesus, help families to love and respect one another. Amen.
*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
PROVERBS 3:34.
He mocks proud mocker but gives grace to the humble and oppressed
*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
JONAH 3-4.
ED.ii. THE DANGER OF GRUMBLE AND COMPLAIN
"Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the Lord, and when He heard them His anger was aroused. Then fire from the Lord burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp. When the people cried out to Moses, he prayed to the Lord and the fire died down." - Numbers 11:1-2
Hebrews 11:6 is a well-known Bible verse which mentions that if someone does not believe, he cannot satisfy God. Faith is essential in order to receive from God. The evil one uses two weapons to ruin our faith, these are fear and anxiety. You believe in God, but suddenly you notice that fear and anxiety come over you. Fear and anxiety are the greatest enemies of our faith. We have to fight against them so that our faith will not to be destroyed. We need faith as through faith we receive from God.
Disabling your own faith
There is, however, another thing which destroys our own faith and that is grumble and complain. The evil one uses fear and anxiety to destroy our faith, but we ourselves crush our faith by grumbling and complaining. In the Old Testament you read that the people of Israel started to complain in every difficult situation. You grumble and complain when you are not satisfied with the circumstances.
Reasons to grumble and complain
There are various reasons to complain. One is self-pity. You are sad because of what people did to you or because of your difficulties. Another cause is the longing for pity from others. Everyone should feel sorry for you as you are the 'victim.' Anger and bitterness could also be reasons to grumble and complain. For example, you are angry with God and influence others with your dissatisfaction.
I advise you not to feel sorry for people who have bitterness in their hearts. It is better to tell them to stop the grumbling and complaining. All these things come from unbelief. When your heart is full of faith and gratitude to God, you will say: 'God is with me. God takes care of me.' Then it does not even occur in you to complain.

2. Evening Prayer for today.
EP.i. Evening Prayer
Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. ⏤ Psalm 119:105
God shapes the world by prayer. ⏤ E.M. Bounds
Bless to us, our Father, the words we have just read from the holy book. We thank You for the Bible, in which we may learn Your will, where You have told us so clearly what pleases You in conduct and character, and have warned us so plainly against the things that are sinful, that displease You, and that will bring harm and curse to those who do them. We thank You, too, for the promises and comforts of Your word. You have filled the sacred pages with them. They shine like stars in our night. In the time of our darkness, of sorrow or trial, they give us light.
We pray for grace to understand Your word better and better. Incline us to love it. Its holiness makes our hearts disinclined to turn to it. Teach us to love it more, to receive it more cheerfully, to make it the guide of our life. May it become indeed a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. May it be rod and staff to us. We would hide it in our heart so that it shall transform our life, keeping us from sin and leading and impelling us to all holiness.
We pray for our home and for all our friends. But we would pray for all men. We pray for all who love the Lord Jesus Christ, wherever they may be. We pray for all sorts and conditions of people—for the evil and the good, for the poor, the sick, the tempted, the sinning. We pray especially for any who are our enemies. If we have done anything to make them enemies, help us to remove the evil so that the enmity may be destroyed. We pray for grace to live peacefully with all people, as far as it depends on us, and to be gentle, meek, unselfish, and patient. Forgive our many sins and grant us Your favor. We ask in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
