He could've come as a conquering king and that is what the religious elite were expecting.
They were expecting the Messiah to cast the yoke of Rome off the backs of Jewish people. But His plan was much grander. He would instead bring light and salvation to this despairing dark world. To the Jew first, then to the gentile.
He brought hope as the Child in the manger and He would bring forgiveness to the whole world at the cross. Conquering death, hell and the grave at His resurrection!
He offers every person the precious gift of salvation. All anyone need do is receive it!
No works are required to gain entrance to heaven. "It is finished!" He cried. The work has been done!
