LIVING A PURE LIFE
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"And all who focus their hope on him will always be purifying themselves, just as Jesus is pure." 1 John 3:3 TPT.
Living a pure life is not just about avoiding sin but also about pursuing God. It is a deliberate personal choice to align your heart with His will. From our anchor Scripture, John, the beloved, by the Holy Spirit's inspiration reminds us that our hope in Christ should lead to purification. The implication of this is that if you truly long to see Him, you should endeavour to reflect His holiness in your life.
The psalmist, inspired by the Holy Spirit asked the wherewithal question on living a pure life, and gave the answer simultaneously in Psalm 119:9, 'How can a young person stay on the path of purity?
By living according to your word.' (NIV). Purity comes through God’s word. The world is filled with temptations, but God's word acts as your guide, shaping your thoughts, desires, and actions. And so, we can say without any fear of contradiction that living a pure life is not just about what you avoid but about what you embrace; in this case, God’s truth, love, and righteousness.
Living a pure life requires surrendering daily to God's will and purpose for your life and service, feeding and meditating on His Word, and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform you as you yield your life and service to His guidance. Living a pure life is a continuous journey toward the LORD Jesus Christ, who is your ultimate example of holiness.
PRAYER BULLETS:
Heavenly Father, I pray that You give me the grace to live a pure life, for that is what is pleasing to You. May my life of purity bring glory to You.
FURTHER READING:
Psalm 119:9-11; Matthew 5:8; Philippians 4:8; 2 Timothy 2:21-22.
