ON BORROWED SUITS AND CHARACTER

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"But the LORD said to Samuel, 'Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.'" 1 Samuel 16:7 NKJV.

The importance of inner character over external appearance cannot be overemphasised for the child of God, in as much as one is not encouraged to dress shabbily. From our foundational Scripture, we see by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, how Samuel, God's servant learned a critical lesson in His walk and work with God; character, which evinces authenticity is preferable to physical appearance and borrowed identifications.

We read in the Scripture how David discarded the borrowed suit (and armour) from King Saul, because it literally didn't fit. Be yourself, that is ~ who you have become by the virtue of your spiritual rebirth. You are wonderfully and fearfully made to be uniquely you to the glory of God.

PRAYER BULLETS:

ABBA Father, thank You for making me wonderfully and fearfully. Let my inner character soar above my physical appearance and borrowed identities as I live for, and serve You.

FURTHER READING:

1 Samuel 17: 38-39; Psalm 139:14; Matthew 23:27-28; 2 Corinthians 5:12; James 2:1-4.
