DEAL WITH YOUR PRIDE
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall." Proverbs 16:18 NIV.
Even though it is not stated literally, but our foundational Scripture is a call to humility, to deal with the latent strength of your pride, by God's extant grace.
It's the most undeviating admonition on the peril of pride. The word of God teaches that unbridled pride unavoidably leads to sure ruination.
Pride makes you an enemy of God, and puts you in opposition against Him. God's attitude and reaction to pride is confrontational. 'God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.' (James 4:6 NKJV). The word 'resist' here is a military language. This tells you how God mobilises and unleashes the forces of heaven to ensure that the (unrepentant) proud person does not access His presence.
Our LORD Jesus teaches that humility, which is the opposite of pride leads to honour in the eyes of God.
Dealing with your pride is not a one-off thing, it is a daily regular process of discipline, and you must of a necessity ask God for His grace and help to walk with Him on this journey.
PRAYER BULLETS:
ABBA Father, I am very grateful for Your mercy toward me. I rely on Your grace to help me deal with my pride, a spiritual trap that leads to personal ruin.
FURTHER READING:
Luke 18:14; James 4:6; Micah 6:8.
