- It's no surprise to me that the body of Christ in general has a total misconception on what true worship is. The problem is we go to church and sing songs, dance and praise thinking we are worshiping God, but are we really? Do you know the word worship and singing are two different words with 2 different meanings?
When Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness and asked Jesus to worship him was he requesting Jesus to sing him a few songs and praise him? I don't think so! How about the woman at the well? When talked to her about worship was he referring songs and praise? Of course not!
Jesus is or course the perfect model and our ultimate example for us, did he ever teach his disciples to sing songs? The only time i can recall anything like this was at the last supper where they sang A hymn. So if we are going to use this as the model then perhaps we should only sing 1 Hymn or song only.
When Jesus preached the gospel and performed signs and wonders how many Praise and worship songs did they sing before it?
So hopefully by now you have realized that we have missed something would you agree? The church today has fallen into tradition and engages in idol worship and we have deceived ourselves into thinking this is true worship.
Am i saying there is something wrong with singing to the Lord? Of course not! There is nothing wrong with singing and praising Him as long as it's done from the heart! Not based on tradition which Jesus was against! The Church today is full of traditions
Mark 7: 9, 13
9 He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition. making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.”
So next question you should be asking yourself is, what is true Worship?
