POTIPHAR'S wife notices that Joseph is handsome and asks him to sleep with her day after day. Joseph refuses, saying, "How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?" One day when the other servants are out, she grabs his cloak. Joseph runs outside, leaving his garment behind in her hand. She uses the cloak to lie to her husband Potiphar, claiming that Joseph tried to attack her. Potiphar gets very angry and sends Joseph to prison, but God stays with Joseph and gives him favor there.
