I spent some time in the quiet of this beautiful evening on the patio studying Jeremiah 8. This chapter should be one to concern us. Take the precepts and principles and apply them in our context today. In the case of this chapter, it was too late. Will we heed the warning of the prophet?

As I was in my Bible study last night, God brought this verse to my attention. Before this, the Apostle Peter outlined some things that should be seen in my life. Almost like a checklist to work on to keep growing. He was adamant in telling me ❞𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲;❞ (2 Peter 1:10). In his commentary, Pastor David Guzik writes: "Continual growth and progress in the Christian life is the sure way to keep from stumbling."
I'm always looking to get better. Peter assures me in this verse that as I keep my eyes heavenward, that entrance awaits me one day when I leave the land of the dying for the land of the living...Praise God!

  • To the Chief Musician. With Stringed Instruments. A Psalm of David. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer. How long, O you sons of men, Will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness And seek falsehood? Selah But know that the LORD has set apart for Himself him who is godly; The LORD will hear when I call to Him. Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the LORD. There are many who say, "Who will show us any good?" LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased. I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
    (Psalms 4:1-8 NKJV)
