  • Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.

How do you fix a Monday?

You walk into your work area with your grandkids' bubble wand (minus the bubbles because you were running late), proclaim in a loud and lighthearted voice while pointing and moving the bubble wand at everyone and everything …. “Begone you Monday Mantra and receive in a day of wondiferiousness.”

It is amazing how many people will stop, look at you, and then contemplate their life choices. The atmosphere went from ugh, it is Monday to Oh Lord, she is at it again.

I actually woke up this morning trying to figure out what day it was. I slept that soundly and restfully. My one dilemma for today is do I stop and get bubbles or not. Hmmmm, that is a perplexing item on today’s agenda of accomplishments.

Let's have a little fun today, shall we? Let's make this Tattle Tale Tuesday. But we are tattling on ourselves…. What are we tattling? When was the first time you stepped out of your comfort zone at work to make those around you smile?

I will go first … about five or six years ago, I went on a week-long costume party for the morning routine of sorting the mail. I started with Harriette Potter, long distance cousin to Harry Potter. Decked out in a Gryffindor onesie, an elf hat that sang, and a toilet plunger for my scepter. That week, I was a different character each day for the morning routine.

    Your turn……

    Be blessed.
**There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to weep and a time to laugh. – Ecclesiastes 3:1,4

  • Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen.
During an interview with NPR last July, Ted was asked, “How often do you think about death,” to which Ted said, “A lot. I have faith that there’s an afterlife. I have faith in that there is something, you know, godlike or supreme-like, other than, you know, just what we see in front of us. I have faith that, you know, love can make change. I have all these different faiths, but if you call them beliefs, then I don’t want to defend them, ‘cause beliefs, all of a sudden, are like...
Belief is, you know, so-and-so believes this because of their religion, and now you can’t have a conversation or, you know…
I’m not interested in arguing with somebody over beliefs, or putting my belief out there with the assumption that I think it’s the way to go.
No, everybody gets to have their own beliefs and their faiths and all of that.
I’ve read all my different philosophy books, and my mentor took me years ago, when I was in my ‘40s, through all sorts of different spiritual explorations, and I went to church with my mom, who was Episcopal, then converted to Catholic, and I had all of that information, and then I was sitting with my mother while she was dying.
All my beliefs and faiths and things went flying out the window, and I had this deep realization that I do not know.”
Mary and Ted were both very kind. Mary at first ran inside because of the cold, just grabbing the gift as she walked in.
Ted stayed outside for a moment looking at the Bible. I brought up some of his interviews, and he said, “Yes, I’m so tired of hearing people talk about their “beliefs.” I’m running out of time, and I want to hear facts. Why do you believe what you believe, and why do you know it’s right?”
As we were talking, Mary came back out and said, “This is the most beautiful gift a fan has ever given me. I’ve not had a Bible since I was a little girl.” Ted showed her his and said, “Maybe this is the universe telling us we should be reading this together.”
    Please be praying for them.

  • Elf on the Plate: A Christmas Feast In The Ozarks

In a cozy country kitchen, decked out in twinkling lights and fragrant pine garlands, the air buzzed with excitement. Christmas was here, and with it came the delightful chaos of preparing the family’s legendary dish: the one and only Elf on the Plate.

“Are you ready for this?” she grinned, hands dusted with flour, as the oven worked its magic. “We've been waiting all year!”

He chuckled, stirring a bubbling pot of rich gravy that somehow smelled like a hug. “Can’t believe it’s that time again! Smells like elf spirits already!”

The recipe was a cherished secret, handed down like an heirloom. It featured roasted root veggies—carrots, parsnips, and potatoes, all golden and crispy—nestled alongside tender meats marinated with festive herbs. It was more than a meal; it was nostalgia incarnate, each bite a reminding echo of holidays past.

As they gathered around the table, the whole family could barely contain their excitement. The beautifully plated dish, generous and colorful, made its grand entrance. She winked, “Remember, it’s not just food; it’s magic!”

They all dove into the feast, laughter bubbling over as flavors exploded in their mouths. Each bite was warm and comforting, wrapping them in a snowball of holiday cheer. “Goodness, this elf is packed with love!” he exclaimed between mouthfuls, causing everyone to chuckle.

As they savored every bite, the kitchen filled with stories—about Christmases long ago, mishaps in the kitchen, and cherished memories of those who couldn’t join them this year. The walls seemed to absorb their joy, echoing laughter that danced through the air.

After a joyful meal, they plopped onto the couch, bellies blissfully full, surrounded by holiday cheer. “That was epic!” he sighed, leaning back. “I truly think this elf gets better every year.”

“It’s the love, you know,” she replied, smiling softly. “It's the magic we create together that makes it special.”

They snuggled under a warm blanket, cozied up by the crackling fire, the spirit of Christmas wrapping around them like a soft hug. The Elf on the Plate had once again brought their family together, a delicious reminder of joy, warmth, and the magic of sharing moments that would become cherished memories.

With twelve more Christmas elves packed in salt hanging from the roof of the root cellar awaiting another future Christmas dinner.

This was Christmas—filled with laughter, love, and a little dash of elf magic in every tummy as Grandpa told the stories of how to catch an elf by one leg or two!
