Moving Forward After Deception "And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me." — Genesis 31:7 Jacob did not minimize what happened. He acknowledged the painful reality of deception. It was not a single misunderstanding or isolated disappointment. His wages were changed ten times—a repeated pattern of broken trust, uncertainty, and injustice. Deception carries weight. It can consume years, alter plans, strain relationships, and leave deep emotional and spiritual wounds. It often raises difficult questions: How did I not see it? Could I have done something differently? Scripture does not pretend these experiences are light or insignificant. Yet Jacob's testimony does not end with "ten times." It ends with "but God." "...but God suffered him not to hurt me." This is the heart of someone who has been previously deceived yet continues to praise the Lord. Such a person does not become defined by the untoward experience, nor remain imprisoned by bitterness or regret. Instead, he recognizes that God's sovereign hand was present even during the season of deception. The scars may remain, and the lessons may be costly, but God's preserving grace proves greater than the deception itself. What others intended for harm did not ultimately prevent God's purpose from being fulfilled. Rather than endlessly reliving the interruption, he moves forward to what the Lord had already prepared before that intermission. The enemy may delay, distract, or deceive, but he cannot overturn God's purposes for those who trust in Him. This does not mean ignoring the lessons of the past. Scripture repeatedly calls believers to test every spirit, examine every teaching, and grow in discernment. But biblical discernment is meant to lead us closer to Christ, not into lifelong suspicion, fear, or despair. A grateful heart says: "I was deceived, but the Lord did not abandon me." A humble heart says: "I have learned to depend more fully on God's Word." A hopeful heart says: "The Lord's purposes for my life are still before me." Our testimony, then, is not merely that deception existed, but that the Lord Jesus Christ remained faithful through it all. He preserves His people, matures them through trials, and leads them onward in His perfect time. Like Jacob, we can honestly acknowledge the pain of being deceived—even ten times—while joyfully declaring: "But God suffered him not to hurt me." The final word belongs not to deception, but to the faithfulness of God.

Lifeline Today Thursday August 6 Living Expectantly My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. Psalm 62:5 (NKJV) Living expectantly is faith on tiptoe. It means believing with God that life is worth living. Your expectation puts a demand on His presence and pulls virtue out of Him. If you have no expectation, your faith has nothing to rest on, and God can do no more than you exhibit faith for. The two enemies of expectation are self-satisfaction and distractions. Self-satisfaction alerts God that we don’t want another touch. God will not invade the small world of the self-satisfied. Distractions are traitors who keep us in bondage to the unimportant. Distracted saints live with no expectation towards God because their time is occupied with lesser things. Expectation however is the key to the move of the Holy Spirit among the saints. Those who expect nothing never leave disappointed. So, be excitedly and hopefully expectant always. This is your day. Wisdom Fountain: "To live expectantly is to walk with your eyes open to miracles, treating every ordinary moment as a doorway to the extraordinary." QUAD-PALS: 003 “Ash-pe-naz, in your honest judgment, do you think I will get out of this room?” the sick king asked in a shaky, sickly voice. “Take some water, my Lord," Ashpenaz responded. After a while Ashpenaz continued, “You will not only survive this ailment but live for many years to come. You have been faithful in your service to the people and have not failed in your commitment to the gods, and they cannot abandon you now at your hour of need.” He ended on a note that connoted confidence. “Nothing could be farther from the fact,” said the king in agreement. “However, ‘Is that the truth?'" He asked rhetorically and continued, “I have an army of 12,000 soldiers headed by my venturesome son and a shrine filled with gods from various nations. However, can any of these gods or soldiers stop the angel of death from striking at his time?" Each of his breaths was deep and heavy and seemed to be his last. He moved his body to sit in a slant position while resting his back on his pillow. “Ashpenaz, it’s good to be motivational and hopeful, but let’s face reality. I am going to die any moment from now, and you know that’s true," the king said unapologetically. He took a deeper breath and continued, “You have been loyal and faithful to me and the kingdom; you are the most trustworthy servant in my realm. That’s why I want you to listen to me carefully as I commit my last request to you.” Ashpenaz moved his chair closer and listened with keen interest. “Ashpenaz!” the king called emphatically with audible stress in his speech. “At your service, my lord,” he replied faithfully. “I am handing over my son, Nebuchadnezzar, unto your wise guidance. I want you to be a father to him. I know he’ll make an excellent king, but he’ll do better under your watch." "He had been on the field from his tender age and knows a great deal about battles and conquests well enough, but he hardly spends time with the Senate and the people. I want you to advise him on kingdom matters and manage-nage-ment, and also summon the senate and the royal household. I want to have a parting word with them before…" He was interrupted by his cough. Ashpenaz offered him another cup of water. Having taken the cup of water, the king tried to continue his words, but the cough watered down his strength to speak further. He coughed the entire evening and all night long; the cough persisted. As his custom was, Ashpenaz wasted no time in carrying out instructions; immediately, he sent out letters to each member of the senate through the Heart Watchers. QUAD-PALS: 002 Nebuchadnezzar proved himself worthy of this appointment by forcefully advancing the nation’s territory. He practically transformed the military by introducing novel intelligent hierarchy and idealistic strategies to the Shinar Army. One of the new innovations was a list of 10 decrees made to be read out loud to the soldiers each morning. At first, the soldiers were critical of his far-fetched methodologies, but the numerous far-reaching successes that resulted from his mode of operation were rewarded by an unreserved vote of confidence from them to him. The new commander was not only brilliant and tactful, but also courageous, aggressive, and composed. He fought day and night, year in and year out, dethroning generals and rulers for the sake of his state. Prior to his era, the soldiers had been fighting with manageable morale. The past few months had been tough for him; he had been diagnosed with sibtu sa napisti, an ailment akin to tuberculosis, which had resulted from his carefree lifestyle even though it was believed to be caused by wicked spirits. Heaven knows that he was an addicted cannabis smoker, an unrepentant alcoholic and a hard drug patriot in the noon of his life. He had not sat on the throne seat for about five months in a row but had been confined to his bed with Ashpenaz sitting beside him to constantly offer him hopeful words, convey the king’s intentions and instructions while intimating him on the state of the nation. By the way, the king’s private room was built inside the palace, and only the king, the chief of staff, and the heir to the throne were allowed into this room; it was called the Eternal Portal. The room was supposed to be the bridge between the physical realm and the spiritual realm. It was one of the national monuments of Shinar; it had a spacious section where tombs were built for dead kings. Whenever a king’s ailment was tending towards death, he would be moved into a compartment of this room. If he survives the sickness, he will return to continue the kingdom business, but if he dies, he will be buried in the king's sepulcher. Kaptain Lamblion JC

Need to know. WHY THE PRODIGAL SON FED THE SWINE "So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything."- Luke 15:15–16 When Jesus told the parable of the Prodigal Son, His audience would have gasped at Luke 15:15. For a young Jewish man, taking a job feeding pigs wasn't just a tough break or a temporary career setback—it was absolute, total degradation. Under the Mosaic Law, swine were ceremonial unclean animals (Leviticus 11:7). To handle them, live among them, and crave their food meant touching the absolute bottom of spiritual, social, and cultural ruin. How did a beloved son, who started with a full inheritance and infinite potential, end up in a muddy pigpen? The job of swine feeding wasn't an accident. It was the natural destination of a specific spiritual trajectory. Distance Distorts Identity. The young son asked for his inheritance early, effectively wishing his father dead, and took off for a "far country." In that distant land, he squandered his wealth in wild living. When you distance yourself from the Father's house, you gradually lose your sense of identity. As long as the money lasted, the son thought he was the life of the party. But when the famine hit and his pockets ran dry, the world showed its true colors. The "far country" never values you as a son; it only values what you bring to the table. When your resources are gone, the world will happily assign you to the mud. Pride Prefers Self-Reliance Over Surrender. Notice what the son did when the famine struck: “He went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country.” Even in severe need, his instinct was self-preservation, not repentance. He didn't say, "I should go back to my father." He said, "I can fix this myself; I'll get a job." Sometimes God allows our self-reliance to exhaust itself. The pigpen became necessary because the son's pride was still driving the bus. He had to reach a point where his best efforts yielded nothing but swine food before he was willing to look home. Hunger Exposes False Pleasures. The text notes a heartbreaking detail: "He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything." The husk pods of the carob tree were coarse, barely digestible fodder used for livestock. Sin always promises a feast, but it leaves you desperate for literal garbage. The very things that once repulsed him were now things he envied. The swine feeding job was the ultimate mirror showing him what his choices had yielded: empty pods that could never satisfy a human soul. The Turning Point: "He Came to Himself." The story doesn't end in the mud. Verse 17 contains four of the most hopeful words in Scripture: "When he came to himself..." The pigpen served a divine purpose. It was the instrument that broke through his delusion. In the silence of the field, surrounded by unclean animals, the illusion shattered. He realized: The world's famine could not be cured by the world's jobs. Even the hired servants in his father's house had more than enough to eat. He was made for sonship, not swine feeding. The pigpen was the place where rock bottom became the solid foundation upon which he rebuilt his relationship with his father. 1. Where are you looking for fulfillment? Are you trying to satisfy a soul-hunger with "carob pods"—things that were never designed to truly feed you? 2. Are you relying on self-preservation instead of grace? Is there an area of your life where you are trying to "hire yourself out" to fix a problem, rather than bringing it to the Father in surrender? 3. Recognizing the Father’s heart: The moment the son turned around, the father ran to meet him—not with a lecture about swine, but with a robe, a ring, and a celebration. "Father, forgive me for the times I wander into distant places, seeking life outside of Your presence. Thank You that when my self-reliance fails and I find myself in the mud, You don't abandon me there. Give me the wisdom to recognize when I am trying to fill my heart with things that cannot satisfy. Grant me the humility to turn around, knowing that Your grace is always ready to welcome me home. In Jesus' name, Amen."
