• Daily Devotion — June 15 | Acts 1:24 (NKJV)

Trusting the God Who Knows Every Heart

Acts 1:24 takes place as the disciples sought God's direction in selecting a replacement for Judas Iscariot. After carefully considering the qualifications and narrowing the choice to two men, they did not rely solely on human wisdom. Instead, they turned to prayer and asked the Lord to reveal His choice.

What stands out in this verse is their understanding of God's perfect knowledge. They addressed Him as the One who knows the hearts of all people. While human beings can see outward actions and appearances, God sees motives, character, desires, and intentions. Nothing is hidden from His sight.

The disciples recognized that making the right decision required more than observation and reasoning. They needed divine guidance. Their prayer reflected humility and dependence upon God. Rather than demanding their own way, they submitted to His wisdom and trusted Him to direct them according to His will.

Believers today face many decisions involving family, work, ministry, relationships, and future plans. It is easy to rely on our own understanding or seek advice from others while neglecting prayer. Acts 1:24 reminds us that the wisest course is to seek God's guidance first. He sees what we cannot see and understands every detail of every situation.

When we bring our decisions before the Lord, we can trust that He will guide us according to His perfect knowledge and love. Even when the path is not immediately clear, we can rest in the confidence that the God who knows every heart is faithfully leading His children.

    Reflection Questions

    1. Do I seek God's guidance before making important decisions?

    2. Am I trusting God's wisdom more than my own understanding?

    3. What area of my life do I need to surrender to God's direction today?

    Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for knowing my heart completely and loving me perfectly. Help me to seek Your guidance in every decision I face. Give me wisdom to follow Your will and humility to trust Your direction above my own understanding. Lead me in the path You have chosen for me. In Jesus name Amen.

    Practical Application

    ● Begin important decisions with prayer before seeking other solutions.

    ● Spend time reading Scripture and asking God for wisdom and direction.

    ● Trust God's timing when answers do not come as quickly as you desire.

    Takeaway Thought

The God who knows every heart can always be trusted to guide His people in the right path.

  • Saint of the Day β€” 15 June
    Saint Germaine Cousin
    The Girl Nobody Wanted

    By the world's standards β€”
    she had nothing.

    Born in 1579
    in Pibrac, France,
    Germaine came into the world
    already disadvantaged.

    Her right hand was crippled
    from birth.

    She suffered from scrofula β€”
a disease of the lymph nodes
    that left painful sores
    on her neck.

    Her mother died young.

    And when her father remarried,
    her stepmother made clear
    from the beginning:

    Germaine was not wanted.

She was sent to sleep in the stable.
    Fed the scraps.
    Given the hardest work β€”
    tending sheep alone
    in the fields,
    day after day.

If she was caught slipping inside
    to warm herself,
    she was beaten.

    She had no friends.
    The village children mocked her.
    Even the other servants
    kept their distance.

    By every human measure β€”
    she was forgotten.

    And yet.

    Something happened in those fields
that the world could not see.

    Germaine prayed.

    Not prayers of bitterness.
    Not prayers demanding justice.

    Prayers of surrender.
    Of trust.
    Of love.

    She stuck her shepherd's crook
    in the ground
    and left the sheep β€”
trusting God to keep them safe β€”

while she walked to daily Mass.

And the sheep were always safe
    when she returned.

She shared her small portion of bread
    with beggars poorer than herself.

    She loved without expectation.

She gave without anything left to give.

And then one June morning in 1601 β€”
she was found dead in her straw bed.

    She was twenty-two years old.

    The miracles began immediately.

Children were healed at her grave.
    Her body was found incorrupt
    decades later.

In 1867 β€” Pope Pius IX canonised her.

And here is what stayed with me:

The people who called her worthless
    were wrong.

The God who never stopped looking
    was right.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
    β€” Psalm 34:18

"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
    β€” Matthew 5:3

    Prayer

    Saint Germaine,
you were overlooked by everyone β€”
    except God.

    Help me to trust
that the eyes which matter most
    have never stopped watching.

    When I feel forgotten,
    rejected, or unseen β€”

    remind me that God's gaze
    never leaves His beloved.

    And help me today
to see the person in my life
who feels the way you did β€”

    and choose to see them.

    Amen.

    Truth for Today

The world decides worth by what you have.
God decides worth by who you are.

    Reflection

Is there someone in your life
    who feels forgotten right now?
    One small act of noticing
    might change everything.

    Comment "Amen"
or "St. Germaine, pray for us"
