  • "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows."

This verse is a beautiful picture of God's blessing, favor, protection, and abundance. In biblical times, anointing someone's head with oil was a sign of honor, refreshment, and hospitality. David uses this imagery to show how God cares for and blesses His people even in difficult circumstances.

    THE CROSS OF CALVARY 🏽

    MONDAY, 17TH AUGUST, 2026

    TEXT: JOHN 7:37–39

    KEY VERSE:

«“If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.” — John 7:37 (KJV)»

THE LIVING WATER THAT FLOWS FROM CHRIST

The Cross of Calvary reveals the depth of God's love, but the message of Christ does not end at the Cross. Jesus calls every thirsty soul to come to Him and receive the living water that only He can give.

There is a thirst in every human heart that money cannot satisfy, success cannot quench, relationships cannot completely fill, and worldly pleasures cannot permanently silence.

Jesus stands as the answer to that deepest thirst.

He does not merely offer us something to drink—He offers us Himself.

    THREE TRUTHS FROM JOHN 7

    JESUS INVITES THE THIRSTY.

«“If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.” — John 7:37»

Notice the words: “If any man.”

The invitation is open to everyone.

It does not matter how broken your past has been. It does not matter how far you have wandered. It does not matter how empty your heart feels.

    Jesus says:

    COME.

    Come with your weakness.
    Come with your questions.
    Come with your failures.
    Come with your burdens.
    Come with your thirst.

The answer is found in Christ.

CHRIST IS THE SOURCE OF TRUE SATISFACTION.

The world constantly offers temporary solutions to spiritual hunger and thirst.

It tells us to pursue possessions, pleasure, recognition and human approval.

But everything the world offers eventually leaves us wanting more.

    Jesus offers something different.

He gives living water—the life, presence and work of the Holy Spirit within the believer.

When Christ becomes the centre of your life, you no longer have to depend on the world to define your worth or satisfy your soul.

    Jesus is enough. 🏽

THE HOLY SPIRIT FLOWS THROUGH THE BELIEVER.

«“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” — John 7:38»

Jesus does not intend for us to keep His life within ourselves.

The living water is meant to flow.

What God pours into you should become a blessing to others.

    Your testimony can encourage someone.
    Your prayers can strengthen someone.
    Your kindness can restore someone.
Your witness can lead someone to Christ.

A believer should not be a spiritual reservoir that only receives.

We are called to become channels through which God's grace flows.

    TODAY'S REFLECTION

What are you truly thirsty for?

Are you thirsty for God—or are you constantly trying to satisfy your heart with the things of this world?

    Jesus is still calling:

“If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.”

Do not run to the world when your soul is thirsty.

    Run to Jesus.

When you are empty—come to Jesus.

When you are discouraged—come to Jesus.

When you are spiritually dry—come to Jesus.

When you need direction—come to Jesus.

When you need peace—come to Jesus.

The world may offer temporary refreshment, but Christ gives living water.

And when you have received His living water, allow it to flow through your life and touch others.

    🏽 PRAYER

    Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving us Jesus Christ, the source of living water. Thank You that through Him we can receive true spiritual life and satisfaction.

Lord Jesus, I come to You today with every thirst, every burden and every emptiness in my heart.

    Fill me with Your presence.

Let the Holy Spirit refresh my soul and strengthen my faith. Remove every desire that has taken Your place in my heart.

Teach me to seek You above everything else.

Let the living water within me flow into my family, my relationships, my church, my workplace and everyone I encounter.

Make my life a vessel through which Your love, grace and truth can reach others.

May I never try to satisfy my soul with what can only leave me empty.

Jesus, You are enough for me.

In Jesus' mighty name, Amen. 🏽

    CALVARY BLESSING

May the Lord satisfy every spiritual thirst within you.

May the Holy Spirit refresh your soul.

May God's presence strengthen you when you are weak.

May His Word guide you when you are confused.

May rivers of living water flow through your life and become a blessing to others.

May your heart always hunger for God and your spirit continually thirst for His presence.

    Come to Christ.
    Drink deeply from His presence.
    Walk in the Spirit.
Let His life flow through you.

  • Good morning, brethren.
    Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    TUESDAY AUGUST 11, 2O26.
    "WORKING IN THE KINGDOM (2)"

‘To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given...’ Matthew 25:29 NLT

YOUR VALUE in a job is determined by the value you add to the job. When a Christian goes to work each day, God holds them accountable for adding, enhancing and improving things in their workplace. Jesus told the story of three men who were each given money. One was given five bags of it, another two, and another one. The first two ‘…went and traded with them, and gained…’ (Matthew 25:16 NAS). They showed skill, initiative, and made 100 percent profit. So they were commended by their master. But the third man just punched the clock, called in sick, didn’t train, try, dare, or do. So his job review didn’t go too well. And Jesus said something that ought to make us all sit up and take notice: ‘To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.’ That means if your attitude and work ethic are poor, you’re in trouble with God. So, let’s stop and think about your job. If Jesus were your supervisor, would you do your work any differently? How would you answer the phone, type documents, treat your employees, or teach your pupils if Jesus were checking your work? As a citizen of God’s kingdom you need to periodically review your attitude on the job, solicit feedback on how you can grow, demonstrate love and grace to those you work with, make your company profitable, and enjoy the work you do.

    *HEALING THROUGH REPENTANCE* 🫵🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽🏽

    ```TEXT:HOSEA 6:1-3```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up" (HOSEA 6:1).*_

*In 1949, a remarkable spiritual revival swept through the Scottish Hebrides Islands, known today as the Hebrides Revival. At that time, churches were nearly empty, and the younger generation had grown indifferent to the faith. Two elderly women, Peggy and Christine Smith, deeply burdened by the spiritual decline, began fervent prayer for God to awaken their community to righteousness. Their prayers were anchored in repentance and a return to the Lord. Soon, other believers joined them in prayer. One night, a young man leading the prayer meeting read from Psalm 24:3, 4: "Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart..." He cried out, "Is my heart clean? Are my hands pure?" That honest moment of repentance sparked a spiritual breakthrough, and soon people across the island began confessing their sins, turning back to God, and experiencing profound spiritual healing.*

*In our text, the prophet calls God's people to repentance. The passage begins with a heartfelt plea for repentance and return to the Lord. It reflects Israel's realisation that they had strayed from God and were suffering the consequences of their rebellion. Yet, despite their waywardness, God desired to restore and revive them if they genuinely repented. The promises of being "revived after two days" and "restored on the third day" symbolised God's readiness to bring spiritual renewal to those who returned to Him.*

*Christians today have important lessons to learn. True healing, whether it is healing from guilt, broken relationships, spiritual dryness or backsliding, begins with repentance. It is not just about feeling remorse but about acknowledging your sins, seeking God's forgiveness, and making a decisive turn toward Him.*

*In our modern world, temptations and sin often pull people away from God. But just as the Hebrides Revival demonstrated, God responds powerfully to repentance. When believers humble themselves and call upon God for themselves or others, He is faithful to heal, restore, and pour out His blessings. For those who need healing today, they should return to the Lord, so He can bind up their wounds and revive their spirit.*

*A haughty person is one who is proud of himself or herself. Many youths are guilty of pride because they fail to recognise God as the Giver of all things and to Him alone all glories must return. Pride is dangerous to your spiritual wellbeing, as God hates pride.*

*Saint Augustine was correct when he affirmed that "It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels." Pride cost the devil the opportunity of living eternally with God after he revolted against the authority of God in heaven.*

*Young people of nowadays demonstrate pride because of their beauty or handsomeness, wears, education, family wealth and position in the society. Pride cost the devil and the fallen angels the kingdom of God, and would cost those who still indulge it.*

*God frowns on pride among His children because all are equal before God and no one should look down on others. His judgment awaits every single soul, whether rich or poor, educated or uneducated, and so on. If you fail to kill pride now, it will kill you later.*

*Jesus Christ is God in human flesh. He came into the world to identify with our sufferings and troubles. He came to bear our burdens and carry our sorrows.*

Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, Prophet Isaiah spoke about what He would do. He said He would be a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. This was exactly what Jesus did when He was on earth. He is loving and compassionate.

Our Bible passage shows one aspect of the nature of Christ. Getting to the house of His friends whose brother had died, Jesus, moved with compassion wept openly. It was the highest show of love from God to His creature.

Jesus is teaching us here that weeping is not a sign of weakness. It is a way to identify with those who are hurting. At the end, Jesus raised Lazarus from death.

*Are you sad or lonely? Are you suffering in any way? Remember, Jesus cares for you. He does not want you to suffer. Call upon Him in time of trouble, and you will experience His comforting arms of love.*

    *PATHWAY TO RESTORATION AND REVIVAL*

    *TEXT:* HOSEA 6:1-3.

1Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

*Timeless Truth:*_"Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth"_ (Hosea 6:3).

    *INTRODUCTION*

"Return, "Revival", "Refresh" and "Restoration" are some of the words used in Biblical and Christian circles that show that something good and precious have been lost or missing and appropriate efforts should be made to get those things back. All these show man's deliberate responsibilities in order to keep the blessings of God for a long time . In 1948, a released christian newsletter during the time of revivalist Abraham Branham reads. “All the great outpourings of the past have had their outstanding truths. Luther’s truth was Justification by Faith. Wesley’s was Sanctification. The Baptists taught the premillennial coming of Christ. The Missionary Alliance taught Divine Healing. The Pentecostal outpouring has restored the Baptism of the Holy Ghost to its rightful place. But, the next great outpouring is going to be marked by all these other truths plus such a demonstration of the nine gifts of the Spirit as the world, not even the Apostolic world, has ever witnessed before. This revival will be short and will be the last before the Rapture of the Church.” The consolation and joy is that whatever great and wonderful experiences we have enjoyed in the past can still be restored by God if man does the needful. This is the message of Hosea to Israel and the godly.

*1. Call to Return to God*

    a. Adam, representing the man of all ages, started with God, but departed from God and many woes followed. In order to vacate the woes, the message of God is simple, return to God. All the woes, challenges, calamities, anguish, backslidings and challenges of man have only one divine prescription: Return to God. Returning to God requires turning or change. Man is generally, reluctant to change. This is one of Newton's Laws of Motion. Willingness to turn is generally, where the problem of man lies. The turning to God requires acceptance of wrongs towards God, decisions with appropriate steps and asking God for forgiveness without self justification. It involves deliberate action of repentance. Repentance from what cause the loss of good old blessings, including repentance from sin, unforgiving spirit, bitterness against neighbours and perhaps God, love of the world, selective obedience to the command of God in any area etc., are just what God is looking for before He pours down His blessings afresh. God did not see that turning or repentance in Adam and Eve. Both of them were busy giving excuses and blaming each other. Neither fully admitted his/her obvious wrong and neither fully repented and returned to God. The repercussion was that they never got the blessing they lost back. They were driven from the beautiful, blessed and blissful garden. If they had returned to God with words of soberness and repentance, the story would have been different for them and the whole humanity. All lost blessings from God are only returned after turning and repentance from the root cause.
    b. The message of God is the same. *"Come, and let us return unto the LORD"*. Stop the blame game. Stop the murmuring and complain. The promise of God for the repentant is valid at all times and in all generations. *"For he hath torn, and he will heal us"*. When your garment of glory is torn, when your shining regalia of blessings is torn, when the source of your joy is torn, the immediate and uncompromisable demand of God and solution is to turn to God. *"He hath smitten, and he will bind us up"*. This is a word of assurance for those who take the courage to turn from their evil ways, carelessness and compromise.

    *Question*

Assess your life where you have departed from God and your old consecration to God and His word. Are you willing to turn? Start today.

    *2. Comforting Revival Through Grace*

    a. Has Israel not gone too far to an irredeemable damnable and bitter experience? God, through Hosea says NO. When there is possibility and willingness to turn, the promise to restore and revive is always unbreakable. Jesus said, *"the scripture cannot be broken."* Hosea used the picture of Calvary and the resurrection of Jesus on the third day to show the reality and restoration of revival for dead bones. *"After two days will he revive us"*. After two days is the third day including all other days after the third day. It shows the beginning of revival on the third day and the continuity of revival after the third day. *"In the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight"*. The resurrection of Jesus Christ has assurably made possible the restoration of any dead soul and experiences even when it appears they are already stinking spiritually in the grave.
    b. The parable of dead bones in Ezekiel 37 shows that revival and restoration is possible when the Word of God is given a prominent and final say in the life of an individual, family, church or nation. All the revivals the Church has experienced in different ages at a time of total darkness were as a result of giving the Word of God the first and unquestionably place. The same applies to any individual that needs revival. Taking the Word of God at face values drives to repentance including burdened and persistent prayers. Once this is done, the rain will definitely fall and there will be repentance and restoration.

    *Question*

Are you desirous of revival and restoration of past glories in your life? From the explanation above, what is your decision?

    *3. Continuous Refreshment unto Glory*

    a. Why blessings are lost and revival is gone is because of lack of continuity in the Old faith and consecration that brought the revival in the first place. Jesus said, *"If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples in deed"*. Disciples in deeds are different from disciples in the mouth to profession. Continuity is the key. *"Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD"*. Continuous following leads to deeper knowledge and deeper knowledge is manifested by continuous following. *"His going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth"*. The former rain is to prepare the ground for planting while the latter rain is to prepare the crop for harvesting. It is the harvesting that is generally seen, but not the planting time of rigour and sacrifice. He that sows, though not seen by many should sow in hope because harvesting is certain. Rain of the Holy Spirit is needed to sow the seed of repentance, intercession and consecration while rain of the Holy Spirit is also needed to enjoy the harvest of refreshment, restoration and revival. Continuity in sowing the seed of the Word of God and wetting it with tears of prayers and acts of consecration will bring the abundant rain and there will be overflowing joy, revival and restoration again.

    *Question*

Are you determined to continue getting deeper into the Word, prayer and consecration without giving up until the rain falls and there are blessings and visitations from heaven again?

    *Prayer Points*

1.Lord, open my eyes to areas that I need to turn to you afresh and make me willing to pay the price of turning .
2.Give me the rain of the Spirit that will help me to sow with tears and deeper consecration until the abundant rain falls on my soul, nation and church .
3.I ask for power and determination to continue seeking your face without giving up and backing out .
4.Father, send the rain and awaken your Church to true restoration and revival .

    *HYMN:* Come Holy Spirit.

*BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOB 9-12.

    2. Morning Prayer fir today.

    MP.i. Morning Prayer

For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin. ⏤ Hebrews 4:15

He is never nearer than when we are tempted. ⏤ E.M. Bounds

O Jesus, we thank You for living this human life with us, knowing all about our experiences. You became a man. You were tempted in every way, just as we are, and understand what temptation is like. It comforts us to know that You understand our struggles and that we can rely on Your sympathy. Help us today, O Jesus, to overcome every temptation. Stand by us and do not let us fall into darkness in any moment of trial.

We are also grateful that You know all about sorrow. You have experienced every depth of human pain. There is no sorrow unknown to You, no grief that You cannot understand. Life brings us sorrows, sometimes very deep ones. No human friend can fully understand them. Our loved ones want to help us but cannot take away our pain or give us true comfort. Earth has no sufficient consolation for us.

So we turn to You, O Jesus, and ask for Your help in our sorrows. We want to bear them sweetly, without complaining. We want to receive the blessing that comes with every pain or suffering, a blessing that is often missed. Teach us how to suffer according to Your will. Give us true comfort that enables us to endure whatever pain or trial we must face. Help us to grow stronger and kinder in every affliction. May Your sympathy bless us, lifting us into deeper fellowship with You. We ask all this in Your precious name, Jesus our Savior. Amen.

Are my hands pure?" That honest moment of repentance sparked a spiritual breakthrough, and soon people across the island began confessing their sins, turning back to God, and experiencing profound spiritual healing.* *In our text, the prophet calls God's people to repentance. The passage begins with a heartfelt plea for repentance and return to the Lord. It reflects Israel's realisation that they had strayed from God and were suffering the consequences of their rebellion. Yet, despite their waywardness, God desired to restore and revive them if they genuinely repented. The promises of being "revived after two days" and "restored on the third day" symbolised God's readiness to bring spiritual renewal to those who returned to Him.* *Christians today have important lessons to learn. True healing, whether it is healing from guilt, broken relationships, spiritual dryness or backsliding, begins with repentance. It is not just about feeling remorse but about acknowledging your sins, seeking God's forgiveness, and making a decisive turn toward Him.* *In our modern world, temptations and sin often pull people away from God. But just as the Hebrides Revival demonstrated, God responds powerfully to repentance. When believers humble themselves and call upon God for themselves or others, He is faithful to heal, restore, and pour out His blessings. For those who need healing today, they should return to the Lord, so He can bind up their wounds and revive their spirit.* ✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` _*Repentance opens the door to restoration.*_ 📜📜```THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:``` *JOB 9-12*📜📜 [10/08, 9:23 pm] Pastor Attah: ```DEEPER CHRISTIAN LIFE MINISTRY``` _*HIGHER EVERYD🅰️Y: (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE FOR YOUTHS)*_ ✍🏽👩🏻‍💼🌻 🍇🙏🏽🛰🚀🔬📚 ```TUESDAY 11TH AUGUST, 2026``` *HUMILIATION OF THE HAUGHTY* 🎚️📓📖🫵🏽🙋🏽‍♂️🙋🏽‍♀️🤨⚠️‼️🛑❌👎🏽⚖️🧎🏽🧎🏽‍♀️🙏🏽 📜📜```TEXT:ISAIAH 3:14-26```📜📜 📖``` MEMORY VERSE:``` _*"Therefore the LORD will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts" (ISAIAH 3:17).*_ *A haughty person is one who is proud of himself or herself. It was the highest show of love from God to His creature. Jesus is teaching us here that weeping is not a sign of weakness. It is a way to identify with those who are hurting. *1. Call to Return to God* a. *Question* Assess your life where you have departed from God and your old consecration to God and His word. Are you willing to turn? Start today. *2. Comforting Revival Through Grace* a. *Question* Are you desirous of revival and restoration of past glories in your life? From the explanation above, what is your decision? *3. Continuous Refreshment unto Glory* a. *Question* Are you determined to continue getting deeper into the Word, prayer and consecration without giving up until the rain falls and there are blessings and visitations from heaven again? *Prayer Points* 1.Lord, open my eyes to areas that I need to turn to you afresh and make me willing to pay the price of turning 🙏. 2.Give me the rain of the Spirit that will help me to sow with tears and deeper consecration until the abundant rain falls on my soul, nation and church 🙏. 3.I ask for power and determination to continue seeking your face without giving up and backing out 🙏. 4.Father, send the rain and awaken your Church to true restoration and revival 🙏. *HYMN:* Come Holy Spirit. *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOB 9-12. 2. Morning Prayer fir today. MP.i. Morning Prayer For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin. ⏤ Hebrews 4:15 He is never nearer than when we are tempted. ⏤ E.M. Bounds O Jesus, we thank You for living this human life with us, knowing all about our experiences. Amen. https://www.youdevotion.com/daily-prayer/miller/37/morning #taptapstudio #youdevotion.

    1 Kings 19

The God Who Restores the Weary

1 Kings 19 follows one of the greatest spiritual victories in Scripture with one of its greatest personal struggles. After the triumph on Mount Carmel, Elijah receives a death threat from Queen Jezebel. Instead of celebrating God's victory, he flees into the wilderness overwhelmed by fear, exhaustion, and discouragement. The chapter reminds us that even the strongest servants of God can experience seasons of weariness.

Elijah reaches a point where he believes his ministry has failed and that he is completely alone. His perspective has become clouded by fear and fatigue. Rather than rebuking His servant harshly, God responds with compassion. The Lord first provides physical rest, food, and refreshment before addressing Elijah's spiritual needs. This demonstrates God's care for the whole person. Sometimes physical exhaustion contributes to spiritual discouragement, and God ministers to both.

After strengthening Elijah, God leads him to Mount Horeb, where Moses once encountered the Lord. Elijah expects God to reveal Himself through dramatic displays of power such as wind, earthquake, and fire. Instead, God speaks through a still small voice. The Lord reminds Elijah that His work is often accomplished quietly and faithfully rather than through spectacular events alone.
God gently corrects Elijah's perspective. Elijah believes he is the only faithful servant remaining, but God reveals that thousands have not bowed to Baal. The Lord's work has continued even when Elijah could not see it. God's kingdom is always larger than our limited perspective.

The chapter concludes with God giving Elijah new assignments, including the call of Elisha as his successor. Elijah's ministry is not over. The Lord restores His weary servant and prepares the next generation to continue His work. God's purposes move forward through faithful servants, one generation after another.

Theologically, 1 Kings 19 reveals God's tender compassion toward weary believers. He understands human weakness and provides grace, restoration, and renewed purpose. The chapter teaches that God's voice is often heard most clearly when hearts become quiet before Him. It also reminds us that discouragement distorts perspective, but God's truth restores hope.

This chapter points to Christ, who compassionately restores the weary and invites all who labor and are heavy laden to come to Him for rest. Jesus understands human weakness because He entered our humanity, yet He never failed in His obedience. Through Him, believers receive strength, comfort, and renewed purpose for every season of life.

For believers today, 1 Kings 19 reminds us that seasons of discouragement do not disqualify us from God's service. When we are weary, the Lord meets us with compassion rather than condemnation. He restores our strength, corrects our perspective, and reminds us that His work continues even when we cannot see the full picture. In Christ, we find the grace to rise again and continue faithfully serving our King.

    1 Kings 20

    Victory Belongs to the Lord

1 Kings 20 records a series of conflicts between Israel and Ben-Hadad, king of Syria. Although Ahab remains an ungodly king, God demonstrates His sovereignty by intervening on behalf of Israel. The chapter reveals that God's actions are motivated not by Ahab's righteousness but by His desire to reveal Himself as the one true God.

Ben-Hadad approaches Israel with overwhelming military confidence, believing that victory is guaranteed through superior numbers and strength. His arrogance reflects the common belief that success belongs to the strongest army. Yet God sends a prophet to announce that He will give Israel victory so that everyone will know that He alone is the Lord.

Against overwhelming odds, Israel defeats the Syrian army exactly as God had promised. Rather than acknowledging God's power, however, the Syrians conclude that Israel's God must only be powerful in the mountains. They assume they can achieve victory by changing the location of the battle. Their misunderstanding reveals a limited view of God, treating Him as though He were merely a regional deity rather than the sovereign Creator of heaven and earth.

God responds by giving Israel another decisive victory. Through this second deliverance, the Lord demonstrates that His authority extends over every place, every nation, and every circumstance. He is not confined by geography, human understanding, or earthly limitations. His power is absolute and universal.
After the victory, however, Ahab fails to obey God's command completely. Rather than carrying out God's judgment against Ben-Hadad, he enters into an alliance for political advantage. What appears to be mercy is actually compromise because it ignores God's clear instruction. As a result, Ahab receives a prophetic rebuke. His failure reminds us that partial obedience is still disobedience.
The chapter closes with the sobering reality that even great victories lose their spiritual value when obedience is neglected. God grants victory, but He also requires faithful submission to His Word.

Theologically, 1 Kings 20 reveals God's sovereignty over every nation and every battle. Victory belongs to Him alone, and His purposes cannot be limited by human assumptions or worldly power. The chapter also teaches that God's blessings should never lead to complacency or compromise. Obedience must continue after victory has been won.

This chapter points to Christ, who has won the ultimate victory over sin, Satan, and death. Unlike Ahab, Jesus fulfilled the Father's will completely and never compromised His obedience. His victory was perfect, final, and eternal. Through Him, believers share in a triumph that no earthly enemy can overcome.
For believers today, 1 Kings 20 reminds us that our confidence must rest in God rather than human strength, resources, or circumstances. Every victory we experience comes from His hand and should lead us into greater obedience rather than self-confidence. In Christ, we serve the victorious King whose power extends over every challenge we face. As we trust Him completely and obey His Word faithfully, we can live with confidence that the Lord alone is God and that every battle ultimately belongs to Him.

2 Corinthians 7 — Godly Sorrow That Leads to Lasting Joy

2 Corinthians chapter 7 brings to completion Paul's appeal for holiness and reconciliation by demonstrating the life-changing power of genuine repentance. Throughout the chapter, the focus is on restored relationships, joyful obedience, and the transforming work of the Christ, the Son of God. Rather than leaving believers burdened by correction, Paul shows that God's loving discipline is designed to produce spiritual maturity, renewed fellowship, and lasting joy. The redemptive plan does not merely expose sin; it provides the grace necessary to overcome it and restores those who humbly return to the Lord.

The chapter begins by building upon God's promises from the previous chapter. Because believers belong to the Lord and have become His dwelling place through the Holy Spirit, they are called to pursue holiness in every area of life. Christian living is a continual process of turning away from anything that dishonors the Christ while drawing closer to Him in reverence and love. Holiness is not motivated by fear but by gratitude for what the Son of God has accomplished through His saving work.

Paul then opens his heart once again to the Corinthian believers. Despite the difficulties they had experienced together, his desire was never to condemn them but to strengthen their relationship. This reflects the heart of the Christ, who lovingly corrects His people so they may experience deeper fellowship with Him. The redemptive plan restores relationships that have been damaged by sin, replacing distance with reconciliation and trust.

Paul recalls the emotional burden he experienced while waiting to hear how the Corinthians had responded to his previous letter. His concern demonstrates the heart of a faithful shepherd who genuinely loves God's people. Yet in the midst of his anxiety, God brought encouragement through the arrival of Titus and the joyful report that the Corinthians had responded with humility and repentance. The Son of God often brings comfort through the fellowship of believers, reminding His people that they are not called to walk alone.

One of the central themes of the chapter is the difference between worldly sorrow and godly sorrow. Worldly sorrow focuses on the consequences of sin, damaged reputation, or personal loss, but it does not produce lasting transformation. Godly sorrow, however, leads to genuine repentance. It causes believers to recognize their sin before the Lord, turn away from it, and pursue renewed obedience. This kind of repentance is a gift of God's grace and an essential part of Christian living.
Paul rejoices not because the Corinthians experienced sorrow, but because their sorrow led them back to the Christ. Their repentance produced visible evidence of changed hearts. They desired purity, truth, justice, and restored fellowship. This demonstrates that genuine repentance is always accompanied by transformed attitudes and actions. The redemptive plan changes not only what people believe but also how they live.

The chapter also highlights the joy that accompanies restoration. Titus himself was refreshed by the Corinthians' obedience and love, and Paul rejoiced because the relationship between himself and the church had been strengthened. This reminds believers that obedience to the Son of God does not diminish joy—it deepens it. Forgiveness, reconciliation, and restored fellowship produce lasting peace that only the Christ can provide.

Another important lesson throughout the chapter is the value of loving correction within the body of Christ. Paul's previous letter contained difficult truths, yet those truths were spoken out of genuine love. The Christ continues to work through His Word, His Spirit, and His people to bring correction that leads to life. Christian living requires humility to receive correction and wisdom to respond with repentance rather than defensiveness.

The chapter concludes with Paul expressing complete confidence in the Corinthians because of their positive response. Their willingness to obey demonstrated that God's grace was actively transforming their lives. The Son of God had not abandoned His people but was faithfully completing His work within them. This confidence was rooted not in human effort but in the power of God's redemptive plan to produce lasting spiritual fruit.

Throughout this chapter, the character of the Christ is clearly displayed. He lovingly convicts His people of sin, leads them to repentance, restores broken relationships, and fills them with lasting joy. His grace is always directed toward restoration, never toward condemnation for those who humbly return to Him. The gospel continually calls believers to repentance because repentance continually draws them into deeper fellowship with the Son of God.

For believers today, this chapter reminds us that true repentance is one of God's greatest gifts. Christian living requires humble hearts that welcome God's correction, knowing that His discipline is always motivated by love. We are encouraged to pursue holiness, seek reconciliation where relationships have been broken, and trust that the Son of God is faithful to restore all who sincerely turn to Him. As we respond to His grace with genuine repentance and joyful obedience, our lives become living testimonies of His transforming power and His eternal redemptive plan.

#DailyBibleReading #OpenYourBible #StudyTheWord #ScriptureForToday #FaithJourney #GodsWord #BibleTime #WalkWithGod

THE SEVENTH-DAY SABBATH IS GOD'S SIGN OF FAITH, CREATION & SANCTIFICATION.

"Verily My Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you." — Exodus 31:13

Many Christians sincerely love Jesus, yet when the Sabbath is discussed, the conversation often turns immediately to law vs. grace.
"We are not under the law."
    "Keeping the Sabbath is legalism."
"We are saved by faith, not works."
While salvation is indeed by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), many overlook one very important truth:
The Sabbath is not merely about law—it is a sign of faith in God's power to sanctify His people.

    1. THE SABBATH WAS ESTABLISHED AT CREATION
    Genesis 2:1-3
    Before there was:
    Any Jew
    Any nation
    Any sin
    Any ceremony
    God Himself:
    Rested
    Blessed
    Sanctified the seventh day
The weekly cycle comes directly from Creation.
The Creator declared one specific day to be holy time.

    2. JESUS IS LORD OF THE SABBATH
    Mark 2:27-28
"The Sabbath was made for man... therefore the Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath."
    Notice carefully:
    Jesus did not say...
"The Sabbath was made for the Jews."
    He said:
"The Sabbath was made for MAN."
It is God's loving gift to all humanity.

    3. GOD'S HOLINESS MAKES THE SABBATH HOLY
    Isaiah 6:3
    God is holy.
    Exodus 3:5
God's presence made even the ground before Moses holy.
    Likewise...
God's presence makes the seventh day holy.
The Sabbath is holy because God sanctified it with His own presence.

    4. THE SABBATH POINTS TO GOD'S SANCTIFYING WORK
    Exodus 31:13
    God says:
"...that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you."
The Sabbath is more than a memorial of Creation.
It is also a reminder that:
    God created us.
    God redeems us.
    God sanctifies us.
    God alone makes us holy.
Keeping the Sabbath is therefore an expression of faith, not self-righteousness.

    5. THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT POINTS BACK TO CREATION
    Exodus 20:8-11
Why should we remember the Sabbath?
    Because...
"In six days the LORD made heaven and earth..."
The commandment points directly back to Creation—not merely to Israel.
The Sabbath reminds us every week that:
    God is our Creator.
    God is our Redeemer.
    God is our Sanctifier.

    6. THE SABBATH WAS MADE BEFORE SIN
    At Creation there were:
    No Jews
    No ceremonies
    No sacrifices
    No sin
    Yet...
    The Sabbath already existed.
This proves it was given for all mankind—not just one nation.

    7. THE SABBATH CONTINUES INTO THE NEW EARTH
    Isaiah 66:22-23
The Bible says that in the new heavens and new earth:
"From one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me."
    The Sabbath was present:
    At Creation
    Before sin
    During redemption
    In the New Earth

    8. THE SABBATH IS ABOUT DELIGHT—NOT BURDEN
    Isaiah 58:13-14
    God calls His people to:
    Call the Sabbath a delight
    Honor Him
    Put aside worldly pleasures
    The promise?
    Joy in the Lord.
    Spiritual refreshment.
    God's richest blessings.

    9. TRUE SABBATH KEEPING REQUIRES FAITH
    Sadly...
    Some reject the Sabbath completely.
Others merely "keep Saturday" without understanding its purpose.
True Sabbath keeping is more than avoiding work.
    It means:
    Meeting with God.
    Trusting His Word.
    Seeking His presence.
Allowing Him to sanctify our lives.
The Sabbath is not about earning salvation.
It is about trusting the One who saves.

    10. THE SABBATH IS A TEST OF OUR FAITH
    The Bible teaches:
We are saved by grace through faith.
But genuine faith believes God's Word.
    If God declares:
"The seventh day is My holy day."
    Faith responds:
"Lord, because You said it, I believe and obey."
The Sabbath becomes a visible sign that our confidence is in God's authority, not human tradition.

HOW DO WE KNOW SATURDAY IS STILL THE BIBLICAL SEVENTH DAY?

Many ask whether today's Saturday is the same seventh day mentioned in Scripture.
    The evidence is strong:

Many world languages preserve the name "Sabbath" for Saturday (such as Sábado, Sabato, Subbota, and similar forms).
The Jewish people have preserved the seventh-day Sabbath from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset for thousands of years.

Sunday-keeping Christians have consistently recognized Sunday as the first day of the week, confirming the continuity of the weekly cycle.
Modern calendar studies show that although calendars and dates have changed over history, the uninterrupted seven-day weekly cycle has remained intact.

    FINAL APPEAL
The great question is not merely:
    "Should I keep a law?"
    The greater question is:
    Do I trust God's Word?
Do I acknowledge Him as my Creator?
Do I believe He alone can sanctify me?
The seventh-day Sabbath is God's gift to humanity—a weekly reminder that He is our Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier.

May we place our faith completely in Jesus Christ and honor Him according to His Word.
"We are saved by grace through faith." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

"The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:17)
"It is a sign... that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you." (Exodus 31:13)
Choose God's Word over human tradition, and delight in the holy day that He made for all mankind.

    DATE: THU, JUL 30, 2026

    TOPIC: GLORIOUS RESTORATION

    KEY VERSE:
"And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead." - (Jeremiah 50:19).

    READ: Jeremiah 50:17-24 (KJV)

    MESSAGE:
The story of Jeff, as published on the website of Changed Lives Archives, narrates the amazing account of redemption and restoration of a wandering child come home. He grew up in the church and drifted away from the faith after the sudden death of his father. He pursued a career in rock music, which led him into broken relationships and addiction. However, through the persistent prayers and support of his aunt, Jeff experienced a spiritual revival. He surrendered his life to Christ. The good news and God’s intervention must have accelerated his mother’s miraculous healing and recovery from cancer.

Stepping back into history, the children of Israel had been warned by God to ensure faithful obedience to His laws and complete separation from the contamination of the Gentile nations around them, as they were preparing to inherit the Promised Land. Unfortunately, they kept on disobeying God, and falling into rebellion and idolatry. Eventually, God expressed His divine displeasure after they had exhausted His long rope of love and overdrawn their cheque of mercy. Prophet Jeremiah warned them of the consequences of their disobedience to God and stiff-necked refusal to change their ways and return to the path of righteousness.

The pronouncement of judgment eventually took its proper course, and they went into captivity and suffered terribly in Babylon. The passage today, however, comes with a message of hope and comfort to the people of God. After the expiration of the period of their punishment, Jeremiah returned with a message of glorious restoration, refreshment and satisfaction in their land. Israel would have a second chance, after spending 70 years in exile.

This teaches us that no matter how far anyone has wandered away from God, the loving arms of the Lord are wide open to receive such if only the individual will retrace their steps like the prodigal son and return to God, the Father of mercy. Our loving Father in heaven is longing to receive as many as will seek His face. A new season of glorious restoration and refreshing starts now.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The door of restoration opens the moment a lost soul repents.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ephesians 4-6
