The Faith of our Fathers What Does it Mean to Have the "Faith of Our Fathers"? When we open Hebrews 11 often called God’s "Hall of Faith" we aren't just reading ancient history. We are looking at a masterclass on how to walk with God in a hostile world. Looking closely at Hebrews 11:23–28, we see the faith of Moses and his parents. Their lives reveal 3 core characteristics of real faith and an actionable model we can live by today: S.E.E.F. Let’s dive deep into what God’s Word teaches us! 👇 Characteristics of the Faith of Our Fathers 1. A Faith That Protects (v. 23) "By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents..." True faith doesn't throw up its hands in fear when society or government laws contradict God. Moses’ parents (Amram and Jochebed) faced a decree from Pharaoh to kill all male babies. Yet, their faith drove them to protect what God had entrusted to them. Application: Faith acts as a shield over our families, our calling, and our spiritual lives against the enemy’s attacks. 2. A Perceiving Faith (v. 23) "...because they saw he was a beautiful [proper/special] child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command." Physical eyes only see problems; eyes of faith perceive God’s divine purpose. Moses’ parents didn't just see a newborn baby—they perceived by faith that God had a specific destiny for his life. This perception cast out their fear of Pharaoh. Application: Faith gives you spiritual vision to see God's plan hidden inside difficult circumstances. 3. A Faith That Perseveres (v. 24) "By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter..." Notice that Moses' faith matured as he grew up. He didn't just rely on his parents' religion; he developed a personal, enduring faith that stood the test of time and temptation. Application: Real faith lasts. It carries you through childhood into adulthood, through changing seasons, and through life's trials. The Faith of Moses — The "S.E.E.F." Model Moses' life gives us a 4-step blueprint for walking in victorious faith: S — Self-denying Faith (v. 24–25) Moses gave up royal status, boundless wealth, and the top position in Egypt. Why? Because faith chooses to suffer with God’s people rather than enjoy the short-lived pleasures of sin. True faith knows when to say "NO" to the world so it can say "YES" to God. E — Expectant Faith (v. 26) "...esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward." • Moses wasn't focused on what he was losing in Egypt; he was focused on what God promised in eternity. Expectant faith keeps its eyes on God's ultimate reward, making present sacrifices feel small. Faith measures value by eternity, not by worldly success. E — Enduring Faith (v.27) "By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible." Moses faced the rage of the most powerful ruler on Earth, yet he stood firm. How? Because he saw the invisible God as more real than the visible king. When you can "see" the Invisible God, you can endure any visible trial. F — Faith in God’s Message of Salvation (v. 28–29) Moses kept the Passover and applied the blood of the lamb so that the destroyer would not touch Israel. He led the people through the Red Sea by trusting God's word. Ultimate faith always anchors itself in God’s plan of salvation through the Blood of the Lamb! PERSONAL REFLECTION: Faith isn't passive, it protects, perceives, perseveres, denies self, expects God's best, endures hardship, and rests in Salvation. Not every voice deserves our attention, and not every message deserves a place in our hearts. What we repeatedly hear can influence our thoughts, attitudes, decisions, faith, and ultimately our lives. Therefore, Christ calls us to become intentional listeners—people who listen to God's Word, receive it with faith, and put it into practice. The second part of the verse reminds us that spiritual understanding grows when we faithfully respond to what God has already revealed. When we value God's truth and live by it, He gives us greater understanding and deeper spiritual maturity. Today, let us ask: What voices are shaping my life? Am I listening more to fear or faith? Hello, I would like to share with you the message from 20 August 2026 from “The Good Seed” daily calendar. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:17) The caterpillar A manager was proud of his achievements, having climbed a long way up the career ladder.  One morning, he noticed a caterpillar in his garden attempting to climb a wooden pole. Would it reach the top? Fascinated by the insect’s efforts, he thought to himself, “Look at how hard I’ve worked to reach the top. Look at the toil I’ve endured! But now I’ve made it. Now I’m at the top.”  Lost in thought, he continued to watch the caterpillar. By now, it had reached the top of the pole. Green leaves? Nowhere to be found! So, it turned around and crawled back down. This made the successful man reflect: “Has my success truly brought me happiness? Am I really happy?”  “No,” he had to admit. Like the hungry caterpillar, he had found nothing to satisfy his deepest desires, nothing of lasting and eternal value.  Christ once asked His disciples, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” (Matthew 16:26).  He also said, “Come to Me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:28-29). Whoever comes to the Lord Jesus finds forgiveness of sins, peace and eternal life. And that is the foundation for a life with meaning and purpose, hand in hand with God. *Empowered To Love* Jesus said a lot of things. Beautiful, enlightening, and important things. But there’s one command that sums up how we should live... *"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." John 13:34* When we look at Jesus’ life, how did He live out this love? And how can we model His actions in our own lives? Love compelled Jesus to give up His privileges. As Creator and Lord, Jesus could've done whatever He wanted. But what He wanted was to temporarily relinquish His rights and even put on human skin—so that we could be made right with God. Love compelled Jesus to prioritize people: The woman at the well. The unclean leper. The woman with the issue of blood. The despised tax collector. The desperate centurion. The thief hanging next to Him on the Cross. ...and many others including you and I. Jesus didn’t see problems—He saw people. Love compelled Jesus to serve others. He washed His disciples feet. He went out of His way for the marginalized. He stopped for the sick, weary, and broken. And in the end, He gave His own life. For the long-time sinner and the seemingly put-together person, Jesus died so that we can truly live. Love compelled Jesus to value truth and grace. In a world where some elevate grace and others prioritize truth, Jesus valued both. He turned over tables when God’s house was turned into a den of thieves, and He showed great compassion to a woman caught in adultery. If we’re ever unsure about how to love others, let’s look to Jesus as the ultimate example. He selflessly gave up His rights, prioritized people, served others to the point of laying down His life, and valued both truth and grace. And as we love like He loved, we'll become more like Him. *A Prayer To Show Love* Mighty Everlasting Father, we thank You for being the perfect example of love. Some people are more challenging for us to love than others. And yet, You love everyone without condition. Help us to see others through Your eyes. Make us aware of a specific person/people we can shine Your light and love to today. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.

Matthew 6:25-30 ESV [25] “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? [26] Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? [27] And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? [28] And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, [29] yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. [30] But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

My God, I did not thank You because I have so much, but because so much of what I have has become ordinary to me, and still, You have not taken it away. I thank You for the things I no longer ask for, because I have grown accustomed to finding them whenever I open my eyes each morning. For a home I return to, until I began to believe that returning was something I was entitled to. For a body that carries me through every day, until I forgot to thank You simply because it does not hurt. For faces I love, still where they have always been. For voices I can still hear, until I forgot that somewhere, someone is longing to hear just one more word from a voice they have lost. How many blessings do we never thank You for simply because they never changed? We mistake stability for something ordinary, protection for something passing, peace for something we deserve, and the people we love for a permanent part of life. Until one of them is gone. And only then do we realize, too late, that it was never ordinary at all. My God, teach me not to wait for loss to understand the value of what You have given me. Not to wait for sickness to understand the gift of health. Not to wait for loneliness to understand the blessing of companionship. Not to wait for fear to understand the meaning of safety. Teach me to see the blessing while it is still here, and to thank You for what I have stopped noticing. Not because I am afraid of losing it, but because I finally understand that its staying was never something ordinary. Perhaps the greatest of Your blessings are the ones we do not even have the courage to call blessings, because we have grown so accustomed to their presence that we began to believe they were ours by right. And how much of what we called our right was, in truth… mercy.

The mind of an unbeliever is a purposeless mind! When your mind is not guided by a Godly direction, you will find yourself falling into great darkness! Allow yourself to be led by God into a life of value and purpose!

Doing the Proverbs 4 Walk We make multiple decisions each day, and that's why we need to learn to do the Proverbs 4 Walk. "We're always making a decision to give up something that we value less for something we value more." Paul Richard, President, Consumer Financial Education Institute Have you noticed grocery stores put staples like milk and eggs at the back so we have to go through the store to get them? To avoid temptation, we can go prepared with a list and keep our eyes straight ahead instead of glancing at the aisles of temptation along the way. Satan employs this tactic too. He lines our life path with costly choices and distractions: immoral sex, selfishness, fear, anger, resentment, envy, etc. He'd like to divert, delay, or derail us, making us spend all we have before we reach YHWH's goals for our lives. To avoid temptation, we can do the Proverbs 4 walk: "Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet.…" Proverbs 4:25-26 What are some practical ways you walk in the Proverbs 4 path? Some helpful truths about temptation: YHWH always provides a way out. Let’s take it! 1 Corinthians 10:13: "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And YHWH is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." It’s all a matter of whom we submit to, YHWH or Satan. James 4:7: "Submit yourselves, then, to YHWH. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." When we give in to temptation, we have no one to blame but ourselves. James 1:14: "Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away."
