A HEART OF INTEGRITY: LIVING FAITHFULLY BEFORE GOD The truth is, God is not playing games. When you make a vow to Him, you enter into a covenant. Breaking that commitment is not a small matter. As seen in Acts of the Apostles 5:4, Peter made it clear that the property belonged to Ananias before he pledged it—but after committing it, it became a matter of truth before God. This also reveals another important principle: faithfulness begins with the small. If a person is not faithful in giving from little, they will not be faithful when they have much. Obedience is not determined by the size of the blessing, but by the condition of the heart. A faithful heart honors God in every season. Therefore, we must break every pattern of inconsistency and unfaithfulness. If you have been making promises to God and not fulfilling them, it is time to correct that pattern. WATCH & PRAY The command “Watch and Pray” is not a suggestion—it is a divine instruction. Jesus spoke these words to His disciples in a moment of intense spiritual pressure, just before His arrest. This reveals something critical: spiritual battles are often won or lost *before* they manifest physically. To “watch” is to stay spiritually alert. To “pray” is to stay spiritually connected. When these two are combined, the believer becomes spiritually fortified. They remember a powerful encounter—salvation, a revival service, or a deep prayer moment—and assume that experience alone sustains their spiritual purity. But Scripture teaches something deeper: holiness is not an event; it is a continuous walk with God. Holiness is not what you did yesterday—it is how you live today. 1 Peter 1:15-16 (KJV) “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” This command is not seasonal. It is daily. 1. Holiness Begins with an Encounter but Continues with Discipline. Three Dangerous Traps of Believers: Food, Money, and Immorality Believers must be careful because Satan does not always fight people with weapons; many times he fights with temptation. Some people did not fall because of witchcraft, they fell because they could not control their appetite, their love for money, and their lustful desires. These three things have brought down many great men and women. The enemy knows that if he cannot stop a believer from going to church, he may try to trap that believer through food, money, or immorality. That is why we must be watchful, prayerful, and full of the Word of God. 1 Corinthians 10:12 says, “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” 1. The Trap of Food Food is good, but when appetite controls a man, it becomes a trap. Many people have lost spiritual power because they could not control their belly. Genesis 25:29–34 — Esau sold his birthright because of food. Numbers 11:4–6, 33 — The Israelites lusted after meat and provoked God. Philippians 3:19 — “whose god is their belly.” Matthew 4:2–4 — Satan tempted Jesus with food, but Jesus overcame. Esau was hungry, but hunger should not have made him sell his future. One moment of uncontrolled appetite destroyed something precious in his life. Many believers are like Esau today. They exchange glory for pleasure, destiny for appetite, and spiritual inheritance for temporary satisfaction. Food becomes dangerous when: It controls your decisions It weakens your prayer life It makes you careless spiritually It makes you break divine instruction Jesus was hungry in the wilderness, yet He refused to turn stones into bread outside the will of God. This teaches us that not everything we desire must be taken immediately. A believer must not be ruled by appetite. Fasting, discipline, and self-control are important weapons. 2. The Trap of Money Money is necessary, but the love of money is dangerous. Money has destroyed many destinies, ministries, marriages, and testimonies. 1 Timothy 6:9–10 — The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Joshua 7:20–21 — Achan was trapped by material things and brought trouble upon Israel. 2 Kings 5:20–27 — Gehazi ran after money and received leprosy. Matthew 26:14–16 — Judas betrayed Jesus for money. Hebrews 13:5 — Be content with what you have. Achan saw gold, silver, and garments and could not resist them. Gehazi followed Naaman because of greed. Judas walked with Jesus, yet money captured his heart. This shows that even people close to anointing can still fall if they do not deal with greed. Money becomes dangerous when: You love it more than God You compromise truth to get it You cheat, lie, or betray because of it Your heart trusts in riches instead of God Money is a good servant but a bad master. If money rules your heart, your spiritual life is already in danger. Believers must learn contentment, honesty, and trust in God as their source. 3. The Trap of Immorality Sexual sin is one of the strongest traps that destroys believers. It has brought down kings, prophets, leaders, and ministers. Judges 16:4–21 — Samson fell through Delilah. 2 Samuel 11:1–5 — David fell with Bathsheba. Proverbs 6:25–28 — Warning against lust. 1 Corinthians 6:18–20 — Flee fornication. Hebrews 13:4 — Marriage should be honored and the bed undefiled. 1 Thessalonians 4:3–5 — God’s will is sanctification. Samson was powerful, but he could not overcome immoral affection. David was a man after God’s heart, yet he fell when he allowed lust into his heart. Sexual immorality does not just destroy the body, it affects the soul, the conscience, prayer life, boldness, and fellowship with God. Immorality becomes dangerous because: It weakens spiritual strength It destroys honor and testimony It opens the door to shame and sorrow It separates people from the presence of God The Bible says, “Flee fornication”. It did not say negotiate with it. It did not say explain it. It said flee. Run from every appearance of sexual sin. Guard your eyes, your mind, your company, and your private life. Why These Three Traps Are Dangerous These three traps are dangerous because they attack: Appetite — food Heart — money Body and purity — immorality They look small at first, but they lead to destruction. Many believers did not fall suddenly; they fell gradually by entertaining these traps. How Believers Can Overcome These Traps 1. Live by the Word of God Psalm 119:11 — “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” 2. Practice Self-Control Galatians 5:22–23 — Self-control is part of the fruit of the Spirit. 3. Pray Always Matthew 26:41 — “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation.” 4. Run Away from Temptation 2 Timothy 2:22 — Flee youthful lusts. 5. Be Content Philippians 4:11–13 — Learn contentment in every situation. 6. Conclusion Beloved, food, money, and immorality are three dangerous traps that have brought many believers down. There is nothing wrong with food, nothing wrong with money, and marriage is honorable, but when these things are misused, they become instruments of destruction. The Lust Child” In Scripture, lust is not limited to sexual desire alone. Lust represents any uncontrolled craving of the flesh—power, money, pride, pleasure, fame, or sinful appetite. When lust is allowed to grow unchecked, it conceives, and what it gives birth to is what the Bible reveals as sin. That product—the result of sustained lust—is what we call “The Lust Child.” The Lust Child is not born overnight. It is formed gradually in the heart, fed by compromise, and raised by disobedience. James 1:14–15 (KJV) “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” 1. LUST ALWAYS SEEKS CONCEPTION James 1:15a – “When lust hath conceived…” Lust is not passive; it is reproductive. What you entertain repeatedly will eventually produce fruit. Lust begins in thought It grows through agreement It matures through action Matthew 5:28 “Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” The heart is the womb where lust conceives. If the heart is not guarded, lust will always give birth. Proverbs 4:23 “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” 2. THE LUST CHILD IS ALWAYS SIN James 1:15b – “…it bringeth forth sin” What lust produces will never glorify God. The Lust Child may look attractive at birth, but its nature is destructive. Romans 6:12 “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” Sin is not sudden rebellion; it is the offspring of tolerated lust. Examples of Lust Children: Pride → Rebellion Greed → Corruption Pleasure → Addiction Power → Oppression 3. THE LUST CHILD GROWS IF NOT KILLED EARLY Galatians 6:7–8 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” What you don’t confront early will control you later. Lust ignored becomes habit. Habit unchallenged becomes bondage. Romans 8:13 “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” The Lust Child must be terminated spiritually before it matures. 4. THE FINAL DESTINY OF THE LUST CHILD James 1:15c – “…sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” Death here is not only physical: Death of conscience Death of spiritual sensitivity Death of destiny Death of intimacy with God Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” The Lust Child always promises pleasure but delivers destruction. 5. DELIVERANCE FROM THE LUST CHILD Galatians 5:16 “Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” Victory is not by suppression but by substitution: Replace flesh with Spirit Replace desire with discipline Replace compromise with obedience Colossians 3:5 “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth…” You don’t manage lust—you crucify it. CONCLUSION The Lust Child is dangerous because it is familiar, tolerated, and often hidden. — Fasting Doesn't Kill The Flesh (Sin Nature) © Caleb Eleojo It might sound a bit crazy… but if you’ve been following for a while, you know I wouldn’t share this without reason. So stay with me. Galatians 3:3 (ERV) || “You began your life in Christ with the Spirit. Now do you try to complete it by your own power? That is foolish”. Put simply anything the Spirit starts in us cannot be finished by our own efforts. Trying to do so would be pure folly, right? So let's consider the scripture below; Colossians 2:11 (ERV) “In Christ you had a different kind of circumcision, one that was not done by human hands. That is, you were made free from the power of your sinful self. That is the kind of circumcision Christ does”. Jesus Christ freed us from the power of our sinful selves (the flesh) and here's a picture of this — imagine a massive tree, its roots sunk deep into the earth, unshakable. Then someone comes along and severs it at the roots. The tree is now free to move, but it will take time to move it. Now this is exactly what Jesus did when He freed us from the power of the flesh (sin nature). But in context to Galatians 3:3, Jesus started the work of dealing with the flesh (sin nature) and this leads to a logical question, “can we finish this work on our own?!” Let's consider the scripture below, Galatians 5:17 (ERV) || “The sinful self wants what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit wants what is against the sinful self. They are always fighting against each other, so that you don’t do what you really want to do”. The Holy Spirit wars against the flesh (sin nature) — and here's what Jesus said, “The Spirit of truth will bring glory to me by telling you what he receives from me” — John 16: 14 (ERV) In other words, the Spirit warring against the flesh (sin nature) is a continuation of where Jesus stopped. Because the scripture above tells us that the Holy Spirit will bring glory to Jesus Christ — by continuing what Jesus started. And here's how the Spirit wars against the flesh (sin nature) — “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think...” — Romans 12:2 (NLT) Now the word “transform” above, is from a Greek word meaning “metamorphosis” — the process that leads to an outward, permanent change. Something it says God will do, only if we let Him — implying that metamorphosis (transformation) is not something achieved by the human strength. So you see the connections — Jesus began this work of crucifying the flesh (sin nature) by freeing us from its power. Like transforming an ant into a caterpillar. Now God continues this work in us through His Holy Spirit by changing the way we think — a complete metamorphosis — the caterpillar becoming a butterfly, where an ant couldn't. So Jesus starts it and the Holy Spirit finishes it — but where do we come in?! Fasting contributes nothing to the metamorphosis of a believer — from baby believer to adult believer — from not looking like Christ to looking like Christ. God started it and God will finish it — so there is no place for man-made rules like fasting! Now this led me to the conclusion that “fasting has no effect on the flesh (sin nature! And the only way to crucify the flesh (sin nature) — is to present yourself before God though prayers, reading and studying the word of God, interaction with the brethren — so God takes it up from here and makes metamorphosis possible. Because we cannot grow anything ourselves — we can only plant like Paul did, water like Apollo did but only God gives the increase (growth - metamorphosis - transformation).
