• When someone says they’re Evangelical, what does that mean? Is it an entirely different sect of Christianity?
    (1) To be evangelical simply means that evangelism is a priority in your personal life and in the life of the church of which you’re a member. Evangelism is the intentional proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, primarily to those who’ve never heard, in order to give them an opportunity to believe & repent and be saved.

    (2) It’s the segment of orthodox Christianity that is most aligned with the first-century church. Just read the entire books of Acts, and you’ll see that the first-century church was constantly engaged in evangelism efforts. This is the heart of God the Father and Jesus - to seek and save the lost. It’s why Jesus came.

  • Great Blessings Hidden in Small Acts of Obedience

“Obedience in the small things leads to great success.”

God often tests our obedience in small places that no one notices before He lifts us up. Because before a success that is visible on the platform, God looks for character that is formed in the secret place.

Noah built the ark exactly as God commanded, even when there was no visible sign of rain. His long-term obedience became the reason for the salvation of his family. (Genesis 6:22)

When Naaman was told to wash himself seven times in the Jordan, it seemed like a very simple instruction. But when he obeyed, he was cleansed. (2 Kings 5:10–14)

Obedience to a small instruction can bring a great transformation.

Obeying even when we do not understand is an expression of faith.

Obedience is never wasted, even when the answer is delayed.

God sees the obedience we offer in places where no one else is watching.

Today’s small act of obedience can become tomorrow’s great testimony.

God is less concerned with asking, How great was the thing you did? and more concerned with, How faithful were you to do what I told you?

Never consider a small act insignificant.
A small act of obedience placed in God’s hands can become the beginning of a great blessing.

    > “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much.”
    — Luke 16:10

  • Charles Spurgeon morning devotional for August 25th
His fruit was sweet to my taste."
    Song of Solomon 2:3

Faith, in the Scripture, is spoken of under the emblem of all the senses. It is sight: "Look unto me and be ye saved." It is hearing: "Hear, and your soul shall live." Faith is smelling: "All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia;" "thy name is as ointment poured forth." Faith is spiritual touch. By this faith the woman came behind and touched the hem of Christ's garment, and by this we handle the things of the good word of life. Faith is equally the spirit's taste. "How sweet are thy words to my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my lips." "Except a man eat my flesh," saith Christ, "and drink my blood, there is no life in him."
This "taste" is faith in one of its highest operations. One of the first performances of faith is hearing. We hear the voice of God, not with the outward ear alone, but with the inward ear; we hear it as God's Word, and we believe it to be so; that is the "hearing" of faith. Then our mind looketh upon the truth as it is presented to us; that is to say, we understand it, we perceive its meaning; that is the "seeing" of faith. Next we discover its preciousness; we begin to admire it, and find how fragrant it is; that is faith in its "smell." Then we appropriate the mercies which are prepared for us in Christ; that is faith in its "touch." Hence follow the enjoyments, peace, delight, communion; which are faith in its "taste." Any one of these acts of faith is saving. To hear Christ's voice as the sure voice of God in the soul will save us; but that which gives true enjoyment is the aspect of faith wherein Christ, by holy taste, is received into us, and made, by inward and spiritual apprehension of his sweetness and preciousness, to be the food of our souls. It is then we sit "under his shadow with great delight," and find his fruit sweet to our taste.

  • Daily Devotion — August 25 | Acts 21:13 (NKJV)

    Faith That Counts the Cost

As Paul journeyed toward Jerusalem, fellow believers warned him of the suffering that awaited him. Out of love, they pleaded with him not to go. Yet Paul remained steadfast because he knew God had called him to continue the mission. His devotion to Christ was greater than his fear of suffering or even death.

Paul's response reveals the depth of his commitment. He had surrendered every part of his life to the Lord and was willing to endure hardship if it meant remaining faithful to Jesus. His courage was rooted in his confidence that God's will was worth every sacrifice.

For believers today, this verse reminds us that following Christ may require difficult choices. While God does not promise an easy path, He does promise His presence, strength, and eternal reward. A surrendered heart trusts God's plan even when obedience comes at a personal cost.

    Reflection Questions

    1. Is there an area of my life that I have not fully surrendered to God?

    2. Am I willing to obey Christ even when it is difficult?

    3. How can I grow in courage and faithfulness each day?

    Prayer

Lord God, thank You for the example of Paul's unwavering faith. Help me to surrender every part of my life to You and to follow Your will with courage and trust. Strengthen me to remain faithful, no matter what challenges may come. In Jesus name Amen.

    Practical Application

    ● Pray for courage to obey God in difficult situations.

    ● Trust God's plan even when the future is uncertain.

    ● Encourage someone who is facing trials for their faith.

    Takeaway Thought

A heart fully surrendered to Christ finds strength to remain faithful in every circumstance.
