THE STORY BEHIND "ALL CREATURES OF OUR GOD AND KING"

“All Creatures of Our God and King” traces its roots to one of the most beautiful expressions of praise in Christian history: the Canticle of the Sun, written by St. Francis of Assisi around 1224.

St. Francis composed the canticle near the end of his life, during a period of physical suffering. Rather than allowing his circumstances to silence his faith, he looked at creation and saw it as a reflection of God’s glory. The sun, moon, wind, water, fire and earth became, in his poetic prayer, fellow worshippers joining humanity in praising their Creator.

Centuries later, the English clergyman William Henry Draper brought this ancient prayer into the world of congregational hymn singing. Draper translated and adapted portions of St. Francis’ canticle into English, creating the hymn now known as “All Creatures of Our God and King.”

Draper prepared the hymn for a children’s Whitsuntide celebration in Leeds, England. His version was subsequently published in the early 20th century and became widely used in churches, particularly in Britain and other English-speaking Christian communities.

The familiar melody adds another layer of history. The tune, commonly known as “Lasst uns erfreuen,” originated in Germany and appeared in a Catholic hymnal in 1623. Centuries later, it was arranged and popularised in the English-speaking church, notably through the work of composer Ralph Vaughan Williams and the English Hymnal.

The hymn’s message is simple yet profound: all creation belongs to God and is called to praise Him. Its repeated invitation to “O praise Him” turns the song into a celebration of worship that reaches beyond humanity to the entire created world.

From a prayer written by a 13th-century saint to an English adaptation sung in churches centuries later, “All Creatures of Our God and King” has endured because of its timeless reminder that creation itself points toward the greatness, goodness and glory of its Creator.

  • Lesley Sumrall :
Smith Wigglesworth knew these pioneers who were British intimately. He knew the pioneers of Pentecostalism. He often ministered with the Jeffreys, Donald Gee, Howard Carter, T.B.
Barratt of Norway, Stanley Frodsham, and most of the others I have mentioned.
Of a truth, he was born in very favorable times, surrounded by unusual men who blessed and inspired one another. And, like many other great men, he came from a humble beginning. Much of this has been told in detail in Frodsham's books and in books by others about Wigglesworth .He was hardly known beyond his hometown of Bradford until he was forty-eight years old when he received the Pentecostal experience at Sunderland under the ministry of Episcopal Vicar Alexander Boddy and his wife. Until this time, Wigglesworth was a plumber and assisted his wife, Polly, in a mission. She did the preaching, and he greeted people at the door, passed out books, and counseled at the altar.
From the time Wigglesworth was six years old, he helped support his family, first by pulling turnips then by working in a factory with his brother and his father. Because he was deprived of an education, he never learned to read until he was an adult. In fact, his wife taught him to read. In later years, he said that he never read anything but the Bible.
Wigglesworth was converted at eight years of age at a Wesleyan Methodist Church. At ten, he changed to the Church of England and was confirmed. He was sixteen when he went to the Salvation Army. At twenty he moved to Liverpool to work. He won hundreds to Christ, particularly the poor children who lived near the docks. He fed them from his salary and preached Jesus to them.
At twenty-three, Wigglesworth returned to Bradford, where he made his home for the remaining days of his life.
There, he opened his own plumbing business and met the young lady who was to become his wife.
Wigglesworth received healing from a ruptured appendix. As a result, he said that God gave him great faith to pray for people suffering with appendicitis. He began his healing ministry before he was baptized in the Spirit. He usually concluded his sermons by praying for the sick.
Polly Wigglesworth died before her husband began to be well-known and to preach extensively in other countries. In his later years, he became one of the best-known evangelists in the Pentecostal movement.
He was accused of being "rough" with people, but he was never accused of being weak in faith.
Of course, I heard about him long before I ever met him.
In Sidney, Australia, a pastor asked me, "Have you ever met Smith Wigglesworth?"
I said, "Not yet. I'm on my way. I'm going to find him somewhere. I have heard of some of the miraculous things that happen in his unique ministry."
The pastor said, "He was here in my city recently, and did we ever have a time! I took him to one of the fanciest restaurants to have lunch on Sunday. When we came into the restaurant, someone took his coat and hung it up for him. He looked around like an eagle. Only wealthy people ate in this restaurant. Instead of sitting down, he took a fork and began to hit the side of his glass with it. Bing! Bing! Bing! Bing!
    Everybody stopped eating.
"Here was Wigglesworth, a handsome-looking man, beating his water glass. Then he raised his hand and said, 'Ladies and gentlemen, I have noticed since arriving here that none of you prayed over your food. You resemble a bunch of hogs to me. You just jump in and eat without giving thanks to the One Who provided it for you. Bow your heads, and I'll pray for you.'"
The pastor told me, "I could have crawled under the table very easily and gotten out of the way so people wouldn't see me. Wigglesworth raised his hands and prayed for those people. Before we left the restaurant however, two families came over and got saved. Then I was ashamed of myself for not being as strong as Wigglesworth."
Wigglesworth's ministry centered on salvation, healing, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He was strong in character and created his own atmosphere wherever he went.

After receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the Lord spoke to Wigglesworth to prepare a banquet for the poor, the lame, and the blind. He secured tickets and hired two people to
go throughout the city and find the afflicted, the tormented, and the crippled and bring them to a supper he would provide at the mission.
He often said the sight of those suppers was beyond description, and that this was the happiest time of his life. The mighty healings that took place during those times increased
    Wigglesworth's faith.

During the 1920s, he came to America on severalevangelistic tours. The first time I heard any specific details of his ministry was in San Francisco before starting around the world with Howard Carter.
I was preaching at the Glad Tidings Tabernacle, which seated more than three thousand people.
People said to me, "Have you met Smith Wigglesworth?"
I said, "No, not yet," and they told me he had been there in the same tabernacle where I was preaching. They told me of a cancer patient brought to the healing service.
Wigglesworth went down the line, saying, "What'sup?"
British-ese for "What is wrong with you?"
When he got to this man lying on a bed wearing only a little hospital gown that tied in the back, Wigglesworth asked the doctor with the man, "What's up?"
The doctor explained that his patient was dying of cancer.
Wigglesworth asked, "Where is it?" and the doctor replied, "In his stomach."
The evangelist promptly balled up his fist and hit the man in the stomach so hard the man appeared to die. His hands fell off the bed, and the doctor began to scream, "He's dead! He's dead!"
He looked up at Wigglesworth and said, "You've killed him! The family will sue you!"
Wigglesworth calmly looked at the doctor and said, "E's 'ealed." He talked with a Yorkshire accent, not pronouncing his "h's."
He did not stop but kept on walking down the line praying. About ten minutes later, the man came down the line behind Wigglesworth on the platform. He had stood up, moved the doctor to one side, and was walking around in that funny little hospital gown with his backside hanging out before more than three thousand people!
He did not have one thought for his appearance, however. He had his up hands over his head and was screaming, "I'm healed! I'm healed!"
Even the doctor had developed faith. He was right behind the sick bed yelling, "He's healed! He's healed!"
The man caught up with Wigglesworth and said, "I have no pain. I feel wonderful inside. I have energy I have not had for I don't know how long," but Wigglesworth never even
turned around to look at him.
He just said, "Well, thank God for it," and went on praying for people. It was no big surprise to Wigglesworth. He already knew the man was healed.

That was the first time I had heard a detailed story of Wigglesworth's ministry, although I had heard about him since I was a small boy. After hearing this story, I thought, "Say! Someday I want to meet him."

Then I went to New Zealand and Australia and heard more stories, including the incident in the restaurant, which only increased my desire to meet this man. When I met him I was not disappointed. He was just what I expected him to be from all that I had heard about him from the people of the nations I had visited, where he had conducted meetings.
Some ministers found Wigglesworth too strong in faith, and that frightened them. Also, he was strong in rebuking them for not having any faith. I loved him and his attitude against sin and sickness. In fact, the stories had not been enough to really tell me what the man was like, nor can any book written about him do Smith Wigglesworth justice.

  • Need to know.
We have been warned in the Great Controversy that once all secular restraints are removed from the Papacy and Catholicism, there will be a revival of her tyranny and persecution. History will be repeated!

    Roman Catholic Church inquisition
Terrifying! Can you imagine living in 1556 under the bloody reign of Queen Mary I, knowing that simply placing your hope in Jesus Christ instead of the government's religion will get you burned alive?

"Under the reign of Mary I...

England's government violently forced its people back under the oppressive authority of ROME.

Faithful believers faced an absolute nightmare simply for believing the Bible!"

Violently dragged before furious authorities, these courageous men and women were heavily interrogated.

The ruthless magistrates demanded they betray their convictions, submit to the POPE, and accept the state-mandated religion.

They were promised complete freedom and mercy if they would compromise their faith and bend the knee to the religious elite!

But they absolutely refused to negotiate a single inch!

Staring down the very men who held their lives in their hands...

They fearlessly declared that their hope was anchored entirely in the uncorrupted Gospel of Jesus Christ...

Not in the Pope or the corrupt traditions of men.

They completely refused to purchase their own lives with a coward's silence!

Furious that their terrifying threats could not shatter this supernatural resolve...

The corrupt tribunal handed down the ultimate sentence.

Bound fast to the heavy wooden stakes in 1556, the fire was lit.

As the raging flames violently climbed around their earthly bodies, they didn't panic, rage, or beg for mercy.

Instead, they peacefully committed their souls to their eternal King!

Their physical flesh was brutally consumed by the fire, but their unshakeable faith left a blazing legacy!

The wicked empire violently silenced their earthly voices...

But they died as absolutely glorious witnesses, proving to a watching world that the truth of Jesus Christ cannot be burned away!

  • She was going blind when the hymn about turning your eyes upon Jesus came to her. Her husband left when the blindness became permanent. She lived to 97, writing music until nearly the end.

Helen Howarth Lemmel was born in England in 1864 and came to the United States as a child. She was gifted musically from a young age and became a professional vocalist and music teacher, performing in choirs and giving voice lessons across her adult life. Music was not merely her faith expression — it was her livelihood.

In 1918, her eyesight began failing seriously. The nature of the condition is not fully documented, but its trajectory was clear and devastating for someone whose professional life depended on reading music, teaching students, and moving confidently through the world.
Around this period, she came across a gospel tract written by Lilias Trotter — a remarkable English missionary and artist who had herself turned away from a potentially legendary career in fine art to serve in North Africa. The tract was called "Focused." Inside it, Lemmel read a line that stopped her:

"So then, turn your eyes upon Him, look full into His face and you will find that the things of earth will acquire a strange new dimness."

She went home. The hymn formed in her mind — both words and melody — with a speed and completeness she later described as something given rather than constructed.

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace."

Her husband left her as her blindness became permanent. The accounts of this are sparse but consistent in the broader biographical record — the disability that cost her so much professionally also cost her her marriage.

She kept writing. She produced over 500 hymns and songs across her lifetime, composing and dictating well into old age.

She died in 1961 at 97 years old — having lived nearly a century beyond the moment the words first came to her in a failing eye's half-light.

"We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen." — 2 Corinthians 4:18

4 Ways to Grow Your Faith

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matthew 5:11-12

    K. Chesterton told the story of a yachtsman who set sail from England, determined to reach an exotic South Sea island. But after many stormy days at sea, he finally sighted land. Beaching his boat, he ventured inland to find a pagan temple before him. He scaled the walls and bravely planted the Union Jack at its pinnacle, only to discover that what he had scaled was the Brighton Pavilion on England’s south coast. He thought he had sailed in a straight line, but in the storm he had been blown off course and had actually gone in a circle without knowing it. As David Wells put it, “He imagined that he was the first in the land, but it turned out that he was the last.”

We smile at the comedy of the error, yet more than a few people I know launch out on the venture of faith, only to hit stormy waters and find themselves going the opposite direction of heaven’s shore. How do you keep from being a fatality in the storms of life? The following are simple guidelines that will help you when you’re tempted to retreat.

Guideline #1: Learn about the nature and character of God. Actually, faith rests upon His character. Faith comes by hearing, says Paul, and hearing comes from the Word of God (see Romans 10:17). What we know of God, we have gleaned from the Bible, a book that has been a map for pilgrims and travelers for centuries. If you believe that the Bible contains God’s direction for life and living, you are then confronted with the issue of whether or not God will keep His promise. The more you know of the character of God, the greater will be your faith.

Guideline #2: Realize that winds of testing only strengthen your faith when you remain faithful and steadfast. Some people become Christians with the anticipation they will never, ever again face problems. They are the ones who get disappointed. Remember, God never promised to exempt you from storms, but to be with you and to take you through the storm. Literally dozens of promises in the Bible can be found to that effect. Notice that the storm strikes both the believer and the unbeliever alike. The one is not subjected to great force because of his wickedness, nor is the other spared because of his faith; yet God has promised to be with His children in the storm. That’s the difference.

The Bible promises a blessing for those who are tested. James, the half-brother of Christ, wrote, “the testing of your faith develops perseverance” (James 1:3).

Guideline #3: Rest in the assurance that God is still in charge no matter how hard the winds blow. Now I freely admit that sometimes when the storm is raging, you wonder. The dog gets sick, your husband is out of town, the kids have to go to the doctor, the babysitter can’t sit, and your car won’t start. “God,” your heart cries out, “why me?” Things must have looked pretty dark to Daniel as his eyes adjusted to the darkness and he saw the lions licking their chops at the thought of fresh meat—him. Please remember, the storm will pass, and God will be there to welcome you at the beginning of another day. God won’t let you down, here’s the promise: “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion to the day of Christ” (Philippians 1:6).

Guideline #4 (Most important!): Realize the walk of faith is one step at a time, one day at a time, one problem at a time.

    Resource Reading: Philippians 1:12-30

  • The Story Behind the Hymns.
THE STORY BEHIND "O GOD, OUR HELP IN AGES PAST"

Few hymns have offered as much comfort across generations as O God, Our Help in Ages Past. Written by the English minister and hymn writer Isaac Watts in 1708, the hymn is based on Psalm 90, a prayer of Moses that reflects on God's eternal nature and humanity's brief existence.

Before Watts began writing hymns, many churches in England sang only metrical versions of the Psalms. Watts believed Christians should sing hymns that expressed the fullness of the Christian faith in clear, heartfelt language. His work transformed English hymnody and earned him the title "Father of English Hymnody."

Inspired by Psalm 90, Watts wrote this hymn to remind believers that while human life is fleeting, God remains constant through every generation. The opening line, "O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come," has become one of the most recognizable expressions of trust in God's unfailing care.

The hymn gained even greater prominence in Britain after it was paired with the stately tune St. Anne, composed by William Croft around 1708. The tune's majestic character perfectly complements the hymn's message of God's everlasting faithfulness.

Over the centuries, O God, Our Help in Ages Past has been sung at national services of thanksgiving and remembrance, royal occasions, funerals, memorials, and times of crisis. During both World Wars, it became a source of hope and strength for countless people facing uncertainty and loss.

Today, the hymn continues to resonate with Christians around the world. Its timeless message reminds believers that while generations come and go, God remains the same, our refuge in the past, our strength in the present, and our hope for the future.

  • A British millionaire is putting his own money on the line to defend Christian street preachers.
Samuel Leeds, a successful property entrepreneur and devout Christian, has publicly pledged to personally fund legal representation for any Christian street preacher in Britain who faces police action simply for sharing their faith.
He says he is “outraged and shocked.”
“I am outraged and shocked to see Christians getting arrested on the streets and being told that they’re offensive for preaching about Jesus when we are living in a Christian country,” Leeds told Truth Times in an exclusive interview. “We see Christians being persecuted all over the world, but seeing it happen in Great Britain — seeing the disdain, the hatred and now the oppression of Christian voices — really bothers me.”
Recent cases have made headlines. Pastor Dia Moodley was handcuffed and thrown in a cell in Bristol for preaching. Pastor Steve Maile was arrested in Watford under circumstances he strongly denies. In both situations, and others like them, police intervention has sparked national debate about free speech and religious liberty.
Leeds is done watching from the sidelines.
“Having been successful in business, I felt it was only right and appropriate for me to put my hand in my pocket and help these people,” he said. “Where Christians are being unfairly targeted simply for preaching their faith, I’m prepared to put my money behind defending them. They deserve proper legal representation rather than simply being silenced by police officers who sometimes overstep the mark and don’t even understand the law themselves.”
He is blunt about what he sees as a growing double standard in modern Britain.
“No, it’s not fair,” Leeds said when asked why highly sexualised advertising and near-nudity face little scrutiny while a man reading from the Bible can be arrested. “Britain has definitely developed a double standard. We’re a Christian country that’s tolerant of everybody and every religion — apart from, increasingly, Christians themselves.”
Leeds does not blame immigration. He points the finger at Britain’s own institutions.
“Migration is not the problem here. If people are coming into England to work and add value, their religion or faith, quite frankly, is irrelevant. Most people do respect the culture. The pressure is coming from within our own institutions — in interactions with the police, in the constant pandering from some of our leaders, and in this apologetic mentality where we seem to be apologising for being British, apologising for flying an English flag, and apologising for being Christian.”
He is equally clear about the deeper issue: Britain’s relationship with God.
“The only hope for Great Britain now is turning back to God and repenting on its knees,” he has said repeatedly. “God blesses us when we follow His principles in the Bible. When you turn your back on God, take His name in vain and openly mock Jesus Christ, which has become so normal in Britain, you cannot then expect everything to continue prospering without consequences. The wages of sin is death. The UK is in a mess right now. No matter who you vote for, the real answer is that people need to turn back to God.”
Yet Leeds is not purely pessimistic. He sees signs of a quiet revival — rising belief in God among young people and growing church attendance — and he is putting practical action behind his words. Alongside funding legal defence, he has launched efforts to buy churches at risk of being sold off and converted into flats, determined to keep them open for worship and community use.
His message to ordinary Christians is simple and direct:
“Don’t just be angry about what’s happening. Draw closer to God. Stand up for what you believe. Support your church. And do something about it.”
Samuel Leeds is doing something about it. He is writing the cheques so that Christian street preachers are not left alone when the police arrive.
Britain was built on the Christian faith. Leeds is refusing to let that foundation be quietly dismantled without a fight.
What do you think — is this the kind of stand more people of faith should be taking?

  • Good morning, brethren.
    1. Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    SATURDAY AUGUST 8, 2O26.
    "WHERE’S YOUR FINANCIAL SECURITY?"

‘…riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generation Proverbs 27:24 NIV

ONE LARGE insurance company advertises itself as ‘the Rock,’ claiming to be the foundation of your financial security. Remember when we trusted these strap lines? Not anymore; it’s not the same world. Financial uncertainty characterises today’s world of failing banks, crumbling investment giants, shrinking multinational corporations, swelling queues of the under-employed and unemployed, plus an epidemic of fear plaguing the hearts of the currently-employed. For the young, the joy of graduation has become the stress of university debts and a shrinking job market. Many older people are trading in their retirement dreams for a new twenty-first century reality: ‘work till you drop.’ In such times, where can we turn? To politicians? To government? To the next get-rich-quick guru? The Bible says, ‘...riches do not endure forever, and a crown [human government] is not secure for all generations.’ (Proverbs 27:24 NIV) What’s the answer? Turn to the only reliable source of security: God! There’s no financial crisis in His kingdom! Israel hungered and thirsted and He sent them fresh manna, and water from the rock. He assigned ravens to feed Elijah, multiplied oil and flour to sustain a destitute widow’s family, fed thousands from a boy’s lunch of five loaves and two fish. And He asks us: ‘…is anything too difficult for Me?’ (Jeremiah 32:27 NAS). No! So: 1) Trust God to provide for you. 2) Do what He tells you to do. 3) Believe that God ‘will.’ ‘The lambs will provide you with clothing, and the goats with the price of a field. You will have plenty…to feed you and your family…’ (Proverbs 27:26-27 NIV).

    *AND THE LEADERS ALSO?*

    *TEXT:* MICAH 3:1-12.

1And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment?
    2 Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones;
3 Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron.
4 Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.
5 Thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.
6 Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.
7 Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God.
8 But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.
9 Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.
10 They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.
11 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.
12 Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.

*Timeless Truth:*_"As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of your paths"_ (Isaiah 3:12).

    *INTRODUCTION*

Leadership has a vital role in the social, family and spiritual well being of a society that cannot be substituted with any other institution. Divine messages, no matter how powerful and impactful, will have its impact short-lived when there is a weak leadership in place. Speaking the truth wisely, humbly and lovingly to power is part of the responsibilities of saints and true ministers of the Gospel. The text records the prophet Micah's fierce condemnation of the corrupt leaders, judges, priests and false prophets of Israel and Judah, culminating in the prophecy that Jerusalem and the Temple mount would be completely destroyed and plowed like a field. Unlike the case of many prophets, the people at the time of Hezekiah listened to Micah and this caused a revival as a result of the godly leadership of Hezekiah. 100 years later, the people still remembered the revival effect of his speaking to power. It is not all the time leaders will be rebellious against the Word of God. This was what they said when people wanted to put Jeremiah to death about 100 years later: *"Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him (Micah) at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls"* (Jeremiah 26:18-19). Preachers and saints should preach and proclaim the Word of God with hope, faith, love and optimism.

    *1. The Evil-Loving Princes*

    a. The princes and judges were expected to enforce the truth in the land. So they were expected to know the truth in the first place. *"O heads of Jacob. Is it not for you to know judgment?"*. But what happened in reality, they hated the good and loved evil? Can you imagine how they would reign? *"Who hate the good, and love the evil"*. Such was the terrible state of Israel and Judah. They became oppressors and predators who made life unbearable for the sheep. *"Who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones"*. They exploited the innocent and the poor. Those who do evil and are able to bribe their ways are justified while the innocent and the poor are cheated and oppressed as guilty. While they may profess and pretend that they love good and are enforcing justice, their secret heart and actions do the opposite. As a result, the law for the poor is different, in operation, from the law for the rich and the great. They make life difficult and painful for the vulnerable.
    b. They are not going to escape divine judgments though it appears they live large and all is going on well with them and their families. Their end will always be full of regrets, with their families, except there is total and full repentance. On the day of their calamities, *"they shall cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings"*. What a great disgrace in spite of the glowing the gowns of the godly and the great when God is not with them and neither hear their prayers when they in turn are oppressed by the oppressors that are greater than them. The oppressors may be stronger humans, demons, incurable sicknesses and diseases among others.

    *Question*

Are you an oppressive leader or a just and true godly leader?

    *2. The Error Launching Prophets*

    a. The next set of leaders Micah prophesied to were religious leaders. *"Thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace"*. These prophets never preach of judgment or hell fire. They feign to be more compassionate and loving than God that they are scared from preaching on the coming and certain judgment coming on the evil doers. They want people to be happy though they are doing evil. They specialize only in preaching love, comfort and things that make people happy. They don't want to offend or see the frown of the wicked. Are these religious leaders Christlike? Jesus Christ preached about hell fire more than any preacher in the Bible. He did not preach to condemn, but to warn the hearers to repent from their sins. So after preaching about Judgment, He showed them the way of escape. After preaching about the judgment to come, Micah, as a balanced prophet, used the Word of God to prophesy mercy, comfort and forgiveness to those who were sincerely repentant. *"But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort"*. Edification, exhortation and comfort are for the repentant who have decided to count the cost and burn the bridge behind them and follow Christ.
    b. There is also judgment for those backsliding prophets. They cannot escape. God strikes where it pains most. The prophets pride themselves in being close to God and receiving the visions of God. But God will ensure that they lose spiritual insight, spiritual authority and cease to have real visions of God from the altar. Their backslidings shall be visible to all those who are discerning. *"Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine"*. When there is loss of fresh spiritual power and vision coupled with spiritual dryness, what is the result? *"Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God"*.

    *Question*

Are you still enjoying spiritual freshness, visions and anointing?

    *3. The End-time Living Proclaimers*

    a. Micah proved himself to be a true and uncompromising proclaimer of the truth. His effectiveness was clearly manifested through the revival that happened during the reign of Hezekiah when he ministered. Furthermore, his work was so enduring that 100 years later his ministry, his messages remained a reference point. What was the secret of a successful end-time proclaimer of the truth? *"But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin"*. He did not just have the power of the Holy Ghost, he was full of it. Man does not want his evil to be revealed. In most cases they hide under the curtain to do their evil. The person who will declare their sins and bring it to open needs uncommon boldness and courage. This cannot be overemphasized when people are deep and hardened in their sins with the tendency to do violence against the Word of God and against the proclaimers. Fullness of the Holy Spirit is the answer to courageous and fearless declaration of the sins and evils of the people. He condemned the injustice of the kings and princes: *"Princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity"*. The practices of their judges were also perverted and were condemnable. *"The heads thereof judge for reward"*. What of the religious leaders? They have commercialized their spiritual assignments. *"And the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money"*. They made their sins difficult to detect by camouflaging with ecclesiastical appearance to deceive that they were close to God and acceptable by God. *"They lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us"*. Their confessions of faith turned out to be self confidence and deception.
    b. Micah was clear about the judgment that would follow though it was not palatable: Zion and Jerusalem would be utterly destroyed. The truth from the godly proclaimer brought conviction of sin and produced repentance and revival under the reign of King Hezekiah. Nothing but the truth is the hope of mankind today.

    *Question*

Are you a non-compromising proclaimer of the truth of the Word of God?

    *Prayer Points*

1.Ask for forgiveness where you have failed God and promise to be another Micah for Christ.
2.Pray that God will visit and restore all our compromised and backslidden children and ministers of God .
3.Ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to declare and expose sins to fill all our ministers of the Gospel afresh .
4.Pray that our messages will bear the expected fruit of repentance and our leaders and rulers will love good and hate evil and be awakened to righteousness .

*Captain John Hawkins Simpson once built a house on the Canford Cliffs, near Bournemouth, England. He chose a sight that was too close to the edge of the cliff. Concerned friends and neighbours warned him of the danger of siting the building there, considering that landslides frequently occurred along the coast, and the weight of the house would cause a disaster. Mr. Simpson ignored the warnings and went ahead to erect a beautiful building there. He enjoyed it for a while. Then came the inevitable catastrophe he was warned about. What remains of that house now is known as "Simpson's Folly" - a heap of ruins on the beach.*

*In today's text, the obstinate attitude of the Jewish leaders - both the princes and the prophets - is similar to that of Simpson. Prophet Micah decried, in the strongest terms, the egregious sins of these leaders who had actually become ringleaders. The princes or governors of the people had become so callous, covetous and corrupt that they were compared to ravenous animals. They shunned divine counsel and sued for wickedness, and God resolved that He would ignore their prayers. The so-called prophets in the land had become exploitative, fleecing, yet flattering the people. They chose to walk in darkness, and God decided He would keep them in the dark, shutting them out of divine revelation and inspiration. This terrible scenario provoked a holy zeal in Prophet Micah, who, full of power by the spirit of the LORD, denounced the people's transgressions, in contrast to the flattering prophets.*

*The impunity of the ringleaders of Micah's day is not different from the prevailing disturbing carriage of today's greedy leaders and desperately materialistic and flattering so-called gospel ministers. These self-styled "prophets" are leading multitudes of ignorant people away to perdition. However, like the case of the corrupt prophets and seers of Micah's time, they will not escape God's righteous judgment, their self-deluding confidence notwithstanding.*

*As you reflect on this matter, it is only fitting for you to examine your position on it. Are you part of the ringleaders? Are you deceived because of your penchant for flatteries? Why not learn from "Simpson's Folly"? On the other hand, are you spirit-filled and bold, like Micah, to declare the truth? Do you have ears for the sound word of God?*

    ```PROVERBS 4:20-23```
    ```Key Verse:``` _*"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life" (Proverbs 4:23).*_

The heart is an important organ of the body. It is like an engine room where life-giving blood is pumped to all parts of the body. When the heart is well taken care of and healthy, the body is well, but if the heart is unhealthy, the body will be sick.

Mr. Larry Biggie was warned severally by his family doctor to watch carefully over his heart's health by avoiding a bad lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits. Doing this will help him to keep his heart healthy and avoid a heart attack. However, Mr. Larry refused to stop eating junk food and smoking cigarettes. He kept a very bad and unhealthy lifestyle.

One evening, he was just back from work when he suddenly grabbed his chest in pain and collapsed. He was admitted to a hospital's Intensive Care Unit where he spent about six months. After he was discharged, he stopped all the bad habits. He had learnt his lesson in a hard way.

If it is so with the physical heart, it is much more important to keep our spiritual heart healthy. Everyone has the spiritual heart, of which the Bible warns that we should watch over and keep it with all diligence. Why? Because out of it comes every thought, decision, desire and purpose of life, whether good or bad.

*You must therefore watch over your heart. Never allow bad and filthy thoughts and actions. Surrender your heart to Jesus for thorough cleansing with His precious blood. Daily read and meditate on God's word to keep your heart sound and healthy.*

    2. Morning Prayer for today.

    MP.i. Morning Prayer

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. ⏤ 1 John 1:7

He who has learned to pray has learned the greatest secret of a holy and happy life. ⏤ William Law

The day is Yours, O God, as is the night. We have come out of the night, where we were with You, for darkness and light are both alike to You. Now we enter a new day, and You are here with us in the light. We want to spend this day with You, just as we spent the night. Light has its dangers, just as darkness does. Evil can appear even in the brightness of day. Temptation comes in our busy hours. Sin is always around us and within us. We need You in the day as much as in the night. Keep our feet from stumbling. Let no sin have control over us. Keep us from presumptuous sins.

May we truly live as children of the light. May we be clothed in Your righteousness. Let us stand before You dressed in the garments Jesus Christ has provided—the garments of redemption and salvation. And as we stand before the world, may we be robed in the righteousness that Your grace provides. Help us to put off the old, sinful nature. Let us put on the new self, created in righteousness and true holiness. May we embrace whatever is pure, true, and lovely. Let our light shine so brightly that others see our good works and glorify You, our Father in Heaven.

We ask for the fullness of Your Holy Spirit. Only when You live in us can we be clothed in the garments of light. May we be glorious within, renewed by Your Spirit; then may our outward lives reflect the beauty of Your holiness. Breathe upon us this morning and fill us with Your Spirit as we go forth. We ask in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.

Good morning, brethren. 1. Morning devotion for today. MD.i. 😀🌹🎀🎁💝🌺 MORNING TEA THE WORD FOR TODAY SATURDAY AUGUST 8, 2O26. "WHERE’S YOUR FINANCIAL SECURITY?" ‘…riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generation Proverbs 27:24 NIV ONE LARGE insurance company advertises itself as ‘the Rock,’ claiming to be the foundation of your financial security. Bible In A Year: Ruth: 1-4; Matt 15: 15- 28; Ps 119: 41-48; Pro 17:17. [07/08, 10:13 pm] Pastor Attah: *MEDITATIONS ON DAILY ⓂANNA* SATURDAY, 8TH AUGUST, 2026. *AND THE LEADERS ALSO?* *TEXT:* MICAH 3:1-12. 1And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment? 2 Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones; 3 Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron. *INTRODUCTION* Leadership has a vital role in the social, family and spiritual well being of a society that cannot be substituted with any other institution. *1. The Evil-Loving Princes* a. *Question* Are you an oppressive leader or a just and true godly leader? *2. The Error Launching Prophets* a. *Question* Are you still enjoying spiritual freshness, visions and anointing? *3. The End-time Living Proclaimers* a. *Question* Are you a non-compromising proclaimer of the truth of the Word of God? *Prayer Points* 1.Ask for forgiveness where you have failed God and promise to be another Micah for Christ🙏. 2.Pray that God will visit and restore all our compromised and backslidden children and ministers of God 🙏. 3.Ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to declare and expose sins to fill all our ministers of the Gospel afresh 🙏. 4.Pray that our messages will bear the expected fruit of repentance and our leaders and rulers will love good and hate evil and be awakened to righteousness 🙏. *HYMN:* Is your life a channel of Blessing? *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOHN 18-20. What remains of that house now is known as "Simpson's Folly" - a heap of ruins on the beach.* *In today's text, the obstinate attitude of the Jewish leaders - both the princes and the prophets - is similar to that of Simpson. This terrible scenario provoked a holy zeal in Prophet Micah, who, full of power by the spirit of the LORD, denounced the people's transgressions, in contrast to the flattering prophets.* *The impunity of the ringleaders of Micah's day is not different from the prevailing disturbing carriage of today's greedy leaders and desperately materialistic and flattering so-called gospel ministers. These self-styled "prophets" are leading multitudes of ignorant people away to perdition. However, like the case of the corrupt prophets and seers of Micah's time, they will not escape God's righteous judgment, their self-deluding confidence notwithstanding.* *As you reflect on this matter, it is only fitting for you to examine your position on it. Are you part of the ringleaders? Are you deceived because of your penchant for flatteries? Why not learn from "Simpson's Folly"? On the other hand, are you spirit-filled and bold, like Micah, to declare the truth?
