As Peter attempted to respond by suggesting that three tabernacles be built, a cloud suddenly overshadowed them. From the cloud came the voice of God declaring This is My beloved Son Hear Him. This moment is significant because it happens before Jesus performs miracles, teaches crowds, or begins His ministry journey. The Father’s affirmation comes before the work begins. It reveals that Jesus’ identity is rooted in relationship, not performance. The Father publicly affirms His love and pleasure in His Son. This declaration establishes Jesus’ identity and strengthens Him for the mission ahead. Soon after this moment, Jesus will face temptation in the wilderness, but the voice of the Father has already confirmed who He is.
