• The church is not losing ground because the world got stronger.

The church is losing ground because we traded the presence for the program.

The direction of influence is determined by who is in the room. If God is present, the church pulls the world toward light. If God is absent — replaced by our cleverness, our crowd strategies, our entertainment — the world does not stay outside. It walks in, sits down, and begins to redecorate.

And what is true of the church corporately is true of you personally.

    Ask yourself honestly:

What is drawing you — the presence of God, or the pull of the world?

Because something is always drawing. Presence always has direction. You are moving toward God or being moved away from Him. There is no neutral.

The frightening thing about Finney's warning is not that the world is aggressive. It is that the drift is quiet. The church does not announce, "We have departed from God." It simply gets busy. It substitutes noise for prayer, relevance for holiness, performance for worship — and calls the crowd a revival.

But God is not in the crowd. He is in the consecrated.

So here is the purging question for today: What are you prioritizing in your private life that either invites or grieves the presence of God?

Not your Sunday face. Your Tuesday morning. Your daily habits. Your prayer life — or the silence where it used to be.

The presence of God is not automatic.
    It is pursued.
It is cultivated through surrender, through the Word, through unhurried prayer, through holy desperation.

Draw near to God — that is the command. Not a suggestion. Not a spiritual bonus for the advanced believer.
Draw near. And He will draw near to you.

The world will always try to draw the church out. But a church — and a believer — saturated with the presence of God becomes immovable. Magnetic. Dangerous to darkness.

Prioritize the presence. Everything else will find its place.

"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you."
    — James 4:8

"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."
    — 2 Corinthians 3:17

"My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."
    — Exodus 33:14

*"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
    — Matthew 6:33
