  • Welcome to Unpolished but Called

    I’m so glad you’re here.

If you’re looking for polished perfection, you probably won’t find it here. But if you’re looking for honest conversations rooted in God’s Word, I hope you’ll feel at home.

Unpolished but Called was created for ordinary people who want to grow in their faith, ask real questions, and keep following Jesus one step at a time. We all come from different backgrounds and seasons of life, but we gather around the same unchanging truth—God’s Word.

Here you’ll find daily podcast clips, Scripture, thoughtful reflections, Bible studies, books, and stories of what God is doing through projects like The Birthday Project. My prayer is that every post would encourage you to open your Bible, know Christ more deeply, and leave with something worth carrying into your day.

If you’d like to go deeper, you’re always welcome to join me on YouTube for full podcast episodes or visit the website for Bible studies, books, and free resources.

Thank you for being here. I pray this page points you—not to me—but to Jesus Christ.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” — Psalm 119:105

    DATE: SUNDAY, JUNE 21ST, 2026
    THEME: EMULATE YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER

    AUTHOR: PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE.

MEMORISE: "That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises". Hebrews 6:12

    READ: Ephesians 5:1-5
    1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
    3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

    MESSAGE:
Years ago, a pastor prayed and told God that if He gave him ten percent of what I had, he would be satisfied. God told him that if he could do what I do, then he would get what I had. When he asked God about what I had done in the past, God told him that I started with 40 days of fasting. The man told God to leave him as he was because he was not ready to follow that example.

Child of God, to achieve certain results in life, you must follow certain examples as it is only natural to eventually become like those whose lifestyle you emulate. When Elijah was taken up into heaven, Elisha received a double portion of the anointing on Elijah's life, took Elijah's mantle, rolled it up, and struck River Jordan. Then, he asked God to part the river as he had parted it for Elijah, and God did so. Elisha followed his father's example. Paul told the believers at Corinth to follow him as he followed Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1). The question is, who are you following? Who are you mimicking? Ephesians 5:1 says that we should be followers of God as dear children.

As we follow God, there are also people of God around us whom we can also follow. Today's memory verse urges us to follow those who, through faith and patience, inherit the promises. There are patterns and examples you should follow as a child of God. If someone is truly following Jesus Christ, then you are safe when you follow him or her because such a person will lead you to the Lord. God has provided many great examples in His word and has also given us fathers in the faith to emulate as they follow Christ. To truly emulate someone, you must study them closely and watch what they are doing. You cannot emulate people just from little clips you see about them on social media, because there are many things about them that you will miss. Read their books, volunteer to work with them, and study how they approach matters.

Beloved, as you emulate your heavenly Father, also become a good and worthy example to others. Follow Christ so that those emulating you will also find Him. I pray that as you emulate your heavenly Father, He will make you a worthy ambassador for Him, in Jesus' name.

    ACTION POINT:
Today is Father's Day. Pray that God will help all fathers to be worthy of emulation.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
    PSALMS 89-94

HYMN 24: I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS
1 I want to be like Jesus,
    So lowly and so meek;
For no one mark'd an angry word,
    That ever heard Him speak.

2 I want to be like Jesus,
    So frequently in prayer;
    Alone upon the mountain top,
    He met his Father there.

3 I want to be like Jesus,
    I never, never find
    That He, though persecuted was
    To any one unkind.

4 I want to be like Jesus,
    Engaged in doing good;
So that of me it may be said
"He hath done what he could."

5 I want to be like Jesus,
    Who sweetly said to all,
"Let little children come to Me;"
    I would obey the call.

6 But oh I'm not like Jesus,
    As any one may see;
O gentle Saviour, send Thy grace,
And make me like to Thee..

THE DISCIPLE WHO NEVER OPENS HIS BIBLE

Beloved, let's allow our hearts to be burdened by the Spirit of the Lord today to confront a silent epidemic paralyzing the Body of Christ. From our altars here in Ibadan to the ends of the earth, we have raised a generation of believers who are addicted to sermons but allergic to Scripture.
You listen to three podcasts on your way to work. You scroll through dozens of one-minute preaching clips on TikTok and Facebook. You shout, jump, and take notes while your favorite prophet prophesies on Sunday morning.
Yet, your personal Bible has not been opened in weeks.
Hear me as a prophetic teacher of Discipleship: Consuming another man’s sermon is not the same as studying the Word of God for yourself. You are surviving on regurgitated revelation, and it is killing your spiritual immune system!

    THE TRAGEDY OF SECOND-HAND REVELATION
When you only listen to sermons, you are eating a meal that someone else went into the presence of God to cook. It tastes good, it might even make you feel full for a moment, but it cannot build the spiritual muscle required for the days we are living in.
We want to master God's algorithm for power, favor, and love, but we refuse to download the raw data of the Word into our own spirits! We want the quick fix, the summary, the spiritual fast-food.
But you cannot destroy the night men behind your nightmares by throwing your pastor's sermon at them. When the devil comes for your family, your mind, and your destiny, he is not intimidated by the YouTube video you watched this morning. He is only paralyzed by the Word of God that has become flesh in you.

THE BIBLICAL STANDARD OF A TRUE DISCIPLE
If you claim to be a disciple, look at the standard set by the early believers. The Apostle Paul was arguably the greatest preacher of the New Testament, yet look at how the believers in Berea responded to him:
Acts 17:11 - "These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so."
They didn't just clap for the Apostle! They went home, opened their scrolls, and searched the Scriptures for themselves!
God is not just looking for an audience; He is looking for students.
2 Timothy 2:15 commands: "Study to show THYSELF approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
Joshua 1:8 does not say "This book of the law shall not depart from your pastor's mouth." It says it must not depart from your mouth!

    BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE
Beloved, the days are evil, and the time is short. We live our lives as if we have endless tomorrows to finally get serious about the Word. But before the silver cord snaps and your earthly assignment is demanded of you, what foundation will you have built?
You cannot stand before the judgment seat of Christ and say, "I didn't read Your Book, but I listened to a lot of great preachers talk about it."
It is time to repent of spiritual laziness. It is time to turn off the notifications, silence the background noise, open the physical pages of your Bible, and wrestle with the text until the Holy Ghost breathes upon your understanding.
     SOUL-SURRENDERING CALL TO ACTION
Stop treating the Bible like an emergency kit and start treating it like your daily oxygen. If your spiritual roots do not go deep into the text, the coming storms will uproot you.

    TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION RIGHT NOW:
TYPE "I WILL STUDY FOR MYSELF!" in the comments to prophetically break the spirit of laziness over your mind.
SHARE THIS BROADCAST to your timeline and all your groups. We must wake the Church up from the slumber of second-hand Christianity!
THE 15-MINUTE CHALLENGE: Cancel one of the podcasts you listen to today, and replace it with 15 minutes of silent, focused reading of the Book of John. No commentary. Just you, the Word, and the Holy Ghost.
A PRAYER OF SURRENDER (DO NOT SCROLL PAST THIS)
"Father, I repent for being a lazy disciple. I repent for treating Your Holy Word as an option rather than a necessity. Forgive me for trying to fight my battles with borrowed revelation. Holy Spirit, ignite a violent, unquenchable hunger inside me for the Scriptures. Open my eyes that I may see wondrous things from Your law. Let Your Word become a fire shut up in my bones! In the mighty name of Jesus Christ!"
If you truly mean this prayer and you are committing to the secret place of study, type "AMEN" in the comments right now!

  • Let's talk about it.
"THE WHITE LIE CLAIMS" , ARE ANSWERED BY THE BIBLE, HISTORY, AND FAIR EVIDENCE.

Different Accusers. Different Claims. One Standard: Test All Things by the Word.

    The accusations are loud:

    “Ellen White copied.”
    “Her health message was borrowed.”
    “Her sanctuary teaching collapsed.”
    “Her writings were edited.”
    “Adventists worship Ellen White.”

But loud accusations are not proof.
A critic is not automatically correct.
A parallel is not automatically plagiarism.
A question is not automatically a refutation.
A shocking claim is not the same as truth.

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
    — 1 Thessalonians 5:21 KJV

“To the law and to the testimony…”
    — Isaiah 8:20 KJV

So let every claim be tested—not by emotion, not by prejudice, not by YouTube clips, not by rumors, but by Bible truth, fair history, honest evidence, and righteous judgment.
    ---

    1. THE ACCUSATION: “ADVENTISTS ARE BAPTIZED INTO ELLEN WHITE.”

Some claim Adventists place Ellen White above Christ and secretly make baptism allegiance to her.

THE DEFENSE: BAPTISM IS INTO GOD—NOT INTO A HUMAN MESSENGER.

“Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
    — Matthew 28:19 KJV

    Let it be clear:

We do not worship Ellen White.
We do not pray to Ellen White.
We do not baptize into Ellen White.
We do not place her above Scripture.
    Christ alone is Lord.
The Bible is the final test.

“The Holy Scriptures are to be accepted as an authoritative, infallible revelation of His will.”
    — The Great Controversy, Introduction

THE MESSENGER IS NOT THE SAVIOUR. THE MESSAGE MUST ALWAYS BOW TO THE WORD.

    2. THE ACCUSATION: “THE GREAT CONTROVERSY WAS COPIED FROM PARADISE LOST.”

Some claim the Great Controversy theme came from John Milton’s Paradise Lost.

THE DEFENSE: THE GREAT CONTROVERSY THEME DID NOT BEGIN WITH MILTON—IT BEGAN IN SCRIPTURE.

Paradise Lost was written by John Milton, first published in 1667.
But the war between Christ and Satan is not Milton’s invention.

Revelation 12:7 — war in heaven
    Isaiah 14:12–14 — Lucifer’s fall
Ezekiel 28:12–17 — pride and corruption
Genesis 3:15 — conflict between the serpent and the seed
Romans 16:20 — Satan finally crushed

Milton wrote poetry from Bible themes.
Ellen White wrote prophetic-historical application from Bible themes.

THE GREAT CONTROVERSY BELONGS TO SCRIPTURE—NOT TO MILTON, NOT TO WHITE, BUT TO GOD.

To say Ellen White stole the conflict theme from Milton is like saying every preacher who preaches Calvary stole from another preacher.

THE CROSS BELONGS TO GOD. THE CONFLICT BELONGS TO THE BIBLE. THE VICTORY BELONGS TO CHRIST.

    3. WALTER REA’S ACCUSATION: “ELLEN WHITE PLAGIARIZED.”

Walter Rea, in The White Lie, accused Ellen White of extensive literary borrowing and plagiarism.

THE DEFENSE: USING SOURCES IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY STEALING.

Yes, Ellen White used historical and literary sources, especially in historical books such as The Great Controversy.

But using sources does not automatically prove fraud.
Using historical records does not cancel inspiration.
A parallel is not automatically plagiarism.

The Bible itself shows inspired writers using sources:

Luke investigated and arranged existing records.
    — Luke 1:1–4

Paul quoted pagan poets while preaching truth.
    — Acts 17:28

Chronicles referred to earlier historical records.
    — 1 Chronicles 29:29

Jude quoted known material outside the Old Testament.
    — Jude 14–15

Were Luke and Paul uninspired because they used sources?
    No.

Were Chronicles and Jude false because they used known material?
    No.

Copyright attorney Vincent L. Ramik examined the issue and concluded:

“Ellen G. White was not a plagiarist and her works did not constitute copyright infringement/piracy.”

This does not mean she never used sources.
It means the accusation “she stole and deceived the church” is not as simple or fair as critics often present it.

LITERARY BORROWING IS A FACT. FRAUD IS AN ACCUSATION. THE TWO ARE NOT THE SAME.

“Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”
    — John 7:24 KJV

    4. RONALD NUMBERS’ ACCUSATION: “THE HEALTH MESSAGE WAS BORROWED.”

Ronald L. Numbers argued that Ellen White’s health message reflected 19th-century health reform ideas.

THE DEFENSE: TRUTH IS NOT FALSE BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE SAW PART OF IT FIRST.

Yes, health reform was already being discussed.
Names such as Sylvester Graham, James C. Jackson, and other reformers are often mentioned.

But that does not make the message false.

A compass is not fake because others discovered north.
A warning is not false because others smelled smoke.
A cure is not fake because doctors studied disease before.

The Bible already taught health stewardship:

“Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost…”
    — 1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink… do all to the glory of God.”
    — 1 Corinthians 10:31 KJV

Ellen White’s health message was not merely food advice.
    It was spiritual discipline:

    temperance
    self-control
    purity
    clear minds
    stronger bodies
    useful service
    readiness for God’s work

And when some critics claim she copied from John Harvey Kellogg, the timeline itself weakens the charge.

    Kellogg was born in 1852.
Ellen White’s major health reform vision came in 1863.
Kellogg was about 11 years old.

THE TIMELINE ITSELF REBUKES THAT ACCUSATION.

The question is not whether others had fragments.
The question is whether God used the message to reform lives.

    5. DESMOND FORD’S ACCUSATION: “DANIEL 8:14 AND THE SANCTUARY DOCTRINE ARE WRONG.”

Desmond Ford challenged the Adventist understanding of Daniel 8:14, the sanctuary, and the investigative judgment, especially around the 1980 Glacier View controversy.

THE DEFENSE: A SCHOLAR’S CHALLENGE IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY BIBLE TRUTH.

    This issue is not plagiarism.
It is a separate theological debate.

Do not throw every accusation into one emotional basket.

    Plagiarism claims are one issue.
Health reform claims are another issue.
Paradise Lost claims are another issue.
Baptismal vow claims are another issue.
Daniel 8:14 and the sanctuary doctrine are another issue.

    Each must be tested separately.

“Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.”
    — Daniel 8:14 KJV

A question is not the same as a refutation.
A debate is not automatically defeat.
A critic’s confidence is not the same as biblical proof.

The sanctuary truth must be studied from Scripture:

    Daniel
    Hebrews
    Revelation
    the Day of Atonement
    Christ’s priestly ministry
    judgment
    cleansing of the sanctuary

DO NOT DISMISS A BIBLE DOCTRINE BECAUSE ONE SCHOLAR CHALLENGED IT. STUDY IT. TEST IT. PROVE IT BY THE WORD.

    6. THE ACCUSATION: “HER WRITINGS WERE EDITED, SO THEY CANNOT BE INSPIRED.”

Some say editing proves Ellen White’s writings were not inspired.

THE DEFENSE: EDITING DOES NOT DESTROY INSPIRATION.

If editing proved a message was uninspired, then parts of Scripture itself would be questioned.

The Bible shows inspired writings being written, copied, arranged, preserved, and even rewritten.

“Then took Jeremiah another roll… who wrote therein… all the words of the book…”
    — Jeremiah 36:32 KJV

Jeremiah’s scroll was rewritten after being destroyed.
    Luke arranged testimony.
    Chronicles used records.
    Psalms were collected.
    Proverbs were gathered.

Yet we still recognize Scripture as inspired.

Editing grammar, improving clarity, arranging material, preparing manuscripts, or correcting expression does not automatically prove fraud.

A SWORD MAY BE POLISHED WITHOUT CHANGING THE METAL.

A MESSAGE MAY BE EDITED FOR CLARITY WITHOUT LOSING DIVINE PURPOSE.

The real issue is not whether human hands helped prepare the writings.

    The real issue is:

Did the message remain faithful to Scripture?
    Did it exalt Christ?
    Did it rebuke sin?
Did it lead to holiness, obedience, and preparation for Jesus?

If yes, then editing is not proof against inspiration.
It only proves that God uses human instruments.

    7. THE ACCUSATION: “IF GOD INSPIRED HER, WHY USE WORDS FROM OTHER CHRISTIANS?”

Some think inspiration means every word must be mechanically dictated from heaven.

THE DEFENSE: INSPIRATION IS NOT MECHANICAL DICTATION.

God does not need to erase a messenger’s reading, vocabulary, memory, or research to inspire a message.

    The pen is human.
    The burden is divine.
    The language may be gathered.
    The message must be tested.

The Bible test is not whether every word is mechanically dictated.

    The Bible test is:

    Does it agree with Scripture?
    Does it exalt Christ?
    Does it rebuke sin?
    Does it produce holy fruit?
Does it lead souls to God?

Ellen White called her writings a “lesser light” to lead people to the “greater light.”

    That is not replacing Scripture.
That is pointing people back to Scripture.

THE GREATER LIGHT IS THE BIBLE.

THE LESSER LIGHT MUST NEVER ECLIPSE IT. BUT IF GOD SENDS LIGHT, WE MUST NOT DESPISE IT.

    8. THE ACCUSATION: “HER WRITINGS ADD TO THE BIBLE.”

Some say accepting the prophetic gift means adding another Bible.

THE DEFENSE: THE PROPHETIC GIFT DOES NOT REPLACE SCRIPTURE—IT MUST BE TESTED BY SCRIPTURE.

The Bible never teaches that the Holy Spirit would stop guiding through the gift of prophecy after the apostles.

“Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
    — 1 Thessalonians 5:20–21 KJV

“Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy…”
    — Acts 2:17 KJV

“The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
    — Revelation 19:10 KJV

    The Bible position is balanced:

    Do not worship claims.
    Do not despise prophecy.
    Prove all things.
    Hold fast what is good.

    False prophets exist.
But false prophets do not cancel the true gift.

COUNTERFEIT MONEY DOES NOT PROVE REAL MONEY DOES NOT EXIST.

IT PROVES THE REAL IS VALUABLE ENOUGH TO COUNTERFEIT.

    9. THE ACCUSATION: “HER FRUIT WAS BAD.”

    Jesus gave a test:

“By their fruits ye shall know them.”
    — Matthew 7:20 KJV

THE DEFENSE: LOOK HONESTLY AT THE FRUIT.

What fruit came through Ellen White’s ministry?

    Christ exalted
    Scripture upheld
    prayer encouraged
    repentance urged
    holiness taught
    commandments of God defended
    faith of Jesus lifted
    health reform advanced
    temperance promoted
    education strengthened
    publishing expanded
    medical mission encouraged
    global evangelism propelled
    preparation for Christ’s coming emphasized

Have Adventists always lived up to this light? No.

But the failure of people to live the message does not disprove the message.

DO NOT JUDGE THE SUN BY THE BLINDNESS OF THOSE WHO REFUSE TO WALK IN THE LIGHT.

Beloved, do not be afraid to investigate.

But investigate with a humble heart.

Do not accept Ellen White blindly.
But do not reject her carelessly.

    Do not worship the messenger.
But do not despise the message.

Do not build faith on human beings.
But do not build unbelief on accusations.

    Yes, Ellen White used sources.
No, that does not automatically make her a thief.

    Yes, critics found parallels.
No, that does not automatically overthrow inspiration.

Yes, health reform existed in her time.
No, that does not make the message false.

    Yes, her writings were edited.
No, editing does not destroy divine guidance.

    Yes, theological debates exist.
No, critics are correct merely because they are loud.

THE BIBLE IS THE STANDARD. CHRIST IS THE CENTER. TRUTH IS THE TEST. FRUIT MUST BE EXAMINED. ACCUSATIONS MUST BE PROVED.

And if her writings bring people back to Jesus, Scripture, repentance, prayer, obedience, health, mission, the sanctuary, the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus—

then let us tremble before calling darkness what may be heaven-sent light.

    DO NOT WORSHIP ELLEN WHITE.
    DO NOT FEAR INVESTIGATION.
    DO NOT LIVE ON ACCUSATIONS.
    DO NOT DESPISE PROPHECY.

TEST EVERYTHING BY THE BIBLE—AND FOLLOW TRUTH WHEREVER GOD REVEALS IT.
Let's talk about it. "THE WHITE LIE CLAIMS" , ARE ANSWERED BY THE BIBLE, HISTORY, AND FAIR EVIDENCE. Different Accusers. Different Claims. One Standard: Test All Things by the Word. The accusations are loud: “Ellen White copied.” “Her health message was borrowed.” “Her sanctuary teaching collapsed.” “Her writings were edited.” “Adventists worship Ellen White.” But loud accusations are not proof. A critic is not automatically correct. A parallel is not automatically plagiarism. A question is not automatically a refutation. A shocking claim is not the same as truth. “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:21 KJV “To the law and to the testimony…” — Isaiah 8:20 KJV So let every claim be tested—not by emotion, not by prejudice, not by YouTube clips, not by rumors, but by Bible truth, fair history, honest evidence, and righteous judgment. --- 1. THE ACCUSATION: “ADVENTISTS ARE BAPTIZED INTO ELLEN WHITE.” Some claim Adventists place Ellen White above Christ and secretly make baptism allegiance to her. THE DEFENSE: BAPTISM IS INTO GOD—NOT INTO A HUMAN MESSENGER. “Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” — Matthew 28:19 KJV Let it be clear: We do not worship Ellen White. We do not pray to Ellen White. We do not baptize into Ellen White. We do not place her above Scripture. Christ alone is Lord. The Bible is the final test. “The Holy Scriptures are to be accepted as an authoritative, infallible revelation of His will.” — The Great Controversy, Introduction THE MESSENGER IS NOT THE SAVIOUR. THE MESSAGE MUST ALWAYS BOW TO THE WORD. 2. THE ACCUSATION: “THE GREAT CONTROVERSY WAS COPIED FROM PARADISE LOST.” Some claim the Great Controversy theme came from John Milton’s Paradise Lost. Revelation 12:7 — war in heaven Isaiah 14:12–14 — Lucifer’s fall Ezekiel 28:12–17 — pride and corruption Genesis 3:15 — conflict between the serpent and the seed Romans 16:20 — Satan finally crushed Milton wrote poetry from Bible themes. 3. WALTER REA’S ACCUSATION: “ELLEN WHITE PLAGIARIZED.” Walter Rea, in The White Lie, accused Ellen White of extensive literary borrowing and plagiarism. The Bible itself shows inspired writers using sources: Luke investigated and arranged existing records. — Luke 1:1–4 Paul quoted pagan poets while preaching truth. — Acts 17:28 Chronicles referred to earlier historical records. — 1 Chronicles 29:29 Jude quoted known material outside the Old Testament. — Jude 14–15 Were Luke and Paul uninspired because they used sources? No. Were Chronicles and Jude false because they used known material? No. Copyright attorney Vincent L. Ramik examined the issue and concluded: “Ellen G. White was not a plagiarist and her works did not constitute copyright infringement/piracy.” This does not mean she never used sources. It means the accusation “she stole and deceived the church” is not as simple or fair as critics often present it. LITERARY BORROWING IS A FACT. FRAUD IS AN ACCUSATION. THE TWO ARE NOT THE SAME. “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” — John 7:24 KJV 4. RONALD NUMBERS’ ACCUSATION: “THE HEALTH MESSAGE WAS BORROWED.” Ronald L. Every Sunday, Pastors preach fire.
Someone records it And then nothing.
The footage sits on a phone or a hard drive, collecting dust.

Meanwhile, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook Reels are hungry for that content.

And the ministers? They don't have time.
    They don't know how.
They don't even know where to start.

    That is your business opportunity.

You can help them dig it up and put it out.

    How?
You edit 30-second clips from their full sermons. Add captions & B-rolls.
    Swap in trending sounds.
Then hand it back to them ready to post or post it on their behalf.

    They get content.
    The gospel spreads.
    And you get paid.

Let the clips prove your skill before you say a word.

    Step three.
    Now DM the minister.
Say this exactly: "Sir, I made two clips from your last sermon.
See the engagement they are getting.
I can do twenty of these for you every month.

  • Social Media Christianity: Are We Following Jesus or Just Trends?
Biblical Focus: Authentic Faith vs. Appearance

Key Verses: Matthew 6:1, James 1:22

In today’s digital age, social media has become one of the most powerful influences in our daily lives. Platforms are filled with inspirational Bible verses, worship clips, Christian quotes, and faith-related content. While these can be encouraging and helpful, an important question must be asked:
Are we truly following Jesus—or are we simply following trends?

Many people today identify as Christians online. They post Bible verses, share worship songs, and publicly speak about faith. Yet Jesus reminds us that true Christianity is not merely about appearance—it is about genuine obedience and transformation.

    In Matthew 6:1, Jesus warns:
“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them…”

Jesus was not condemning public faith, but He was confronting a faith motivated by attention, approval, or recognition. In today’s world, it is easy to appear spiritual online while neglecting genuine devotion in private. We may post about prayer but struggle to pray. We may share sermons but fail to obey God’s Word ourselves.

Social media can sometimes create a version of “performance Christianity”—where faith becomes more about visibility than sincerity. We begin measuring spirituality by likes, followers, shares, or appearance rather than by obedience, humility, and holiness.

But authentic Christianity is not about looking faithful—it is about living faithfully.
The Bible says in James 1:22:
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

God is not only concerned with what we post, but with how we live. True faith is shown not only in public declarations but also in private devotion, daily obedience, forgiveness, humility, holiness, and love for others.

A Christian life should not only look good online—it should reflect Christ offline.

    Signs of Trend-Based Christianity
Following Christian trends without truly knowing God personally
Posting Scripture but rarely reading or obeying it
Seeking validation from people more than approval from God
Treating faith as content instead of commitment
Being spiritually active online but spiritually empty in private

    Signs of Authentic Christianity
Obedience to God even when no one sees
A consistent prayer and Bible-reading life
    Humility instead of self-promotion
    Loving people genuinely, not performatively
Living out the teachings of Jesus daily

Social media itself is not evil. In fact, it can be a powerful tool to spread the Gospel, encourage believers, and glorify God. But the danger comes when Christianity becomes an image to maintain instead of a life surrendered to Christ.

The goal is not simply to look Christian but to be Christlike.
At the end of the day, God will not ask how many followers we had, how many verses we posted, or how viral our content became. He will look at our hearts and our obedience.
So let us ask ourselves honestly:
Am I following Jesus—or am I just following trends?

May our faith be real, our devotion sincere, and our lives reflect Christ both online and offline.

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16

  • THROWBACK THURSDAY - During a 2007 road trip through Waynesboro, Virginia, my roommate and I spotted this school bus converted into a coffee shop. The manager was a believer and shared with me a pro-life song she wrote. I later created a music video for “Silent Voice”, which has generated more hits than any of my other YouTube clips (link in the comments).

  • THE DAY WE VOTED TO KILL JESUS

It began, as most things do now, online. On a feed.

A man from an obscure northern province had been going viral for weeks — not because he was entertaining, but because he was true. His clips did not promise prosperity or pander to tribalism. He spoke of grace for the poor, accountability for the powerful, and a kingdom not built on the backs of the broken.

The algorithm, designed to reward outrage, did not know what to do with him. But the people did. They shared him anyway.

By the time the religious establishment took notice, he already had thirty million followers.

What finished any chance of peaceful coexistence was what he did at the National Ecumenical Center on a Tuesday morning: live-streamed, unannounced.

He walked into the atrium where prosperity coaches held paid seminars, where VIP prayer packages were sold at tiered rates, and where political endorsements were packaged as anointing. And he overturned the tables. On camera. Without apology.

The clip hit forty million views before sunset.

Behind closed doors that evening, the High Council of Bishops convened an emergency session. The minutes, leaked weeks later, were clinical: he was destabilising revenue streams, challenging theological authority, and, most dangerously, making the masses believe that God did not require middlemen.

He had to be stopped. The only question was how.

His name was Judas. A trusted aide. A man who had believed, once. Genuinely believed. But somewhere in the drift of disappointment, belief had curdled into transaction.

The sum transferred to his account was modest by elite standards. But Judas told himself it was not about the money. It was about pragmatism. About choosing the possible over the perfect. He told himself this until he almost believed it.

He made the call at 11:47PM on a Thursday. Shared location on Google maps.

The security convoy arrived in Gethsemane Park with body cameras deliberately switched off. The suspect was described in the official statement as a person of interest in a matter of public order and religious incitement.

A kiss on his cheek. He did not resist. Witnesses said he was calm; unnervingly calm. One officer, who later gave an anonymous account to a journalist, said: 'He looked at us like he knew. Like he had always known.'

His closest associates scattered within minutes. One, a man named Peter, denied knowing him three times to the same security checkpoint officer; the third denial caught on CCTV, replayed endlessly in the days that followed.

By morning, #JesusArrest was the top trend on all social media platforms in seventeen countries.

The hearing was convened under a procedural clause that bypassed standard judicial review. Governor Pontius, a career bureaucrat with an approval rating of thirty-one percent and a re-election campaign launching in eight weeks, was assigned the case. He reviewed the dossier. He reviewed the polling data. They told different stories.

His private counsel advised him: the charges were thin. Blasphemy was not a criminal offence under current statutes. Disturbing the peace was a misdemeanour at best. But the Council had delivered something more powerful than evidence: they had delivered a crowd.

Cable panels convened at dawn. A retired theologian called him a threat to social cohesion. A political analyst called him a populist agitator. A bishop who had once requested a private meeting with him, who had wept in that meeting, now appeared on camera calling him dangerous. The chyron beneath his face read: EXPERT WARNS OF RADICALISM.

Pontius called for a public vote. It was framed as democratic. It was anything but.

The choice was presented simply: the people could call for the release of a convicted violent criminal, or they could call for the release of the teacher from Galilee.

The Council's digital teams had been working since midnight. Bot accounts seeded the sentiment. Influencers who owed the establishment favours posted. WhatsApp groups in three hundred parishes received coordinated messages framing Jesus as a heretic who had insulted the faith.

By 9AM, seventy-eight percent of respondents in the live online poll voted to free Barabbas. We all voted.

Pontius looked at the numbers for a long time. Then he ordered a basin of water, washed his hands in full view of the cameras, and signed the order.

What followed, the official record would sanitise. The truth was uglier.

Soldiers, bored and brutal in the way that institutionalised violence makes men bored and brutal, mocked him in the holding room. Someone pressed a makeshift crown of thorns onto his head as a joke. Someone filmed it. The clip circulated in private groups with laughing emojis.

He carried the instrument of his own execution through streets where, days before, people had waved and wept with joy to see him. Those same streets were now lined with jeering faces. A few wept quietly at the edges. Most looked away.
He fell. Three times. And each time he rose.

They nailed him to the cross at noon. The sky, eyewitnesses later swore, turned a colour that had no name.

He spoke seven times. The last words were not defiant. They were not bitter. They were "It is finished".

The tomb was sealed. Soldiers were posted. A statement was issued by the Council declaring the matter closed and urging the public to move forward.

Three days later, the tomb was empty.

No forensic explanation satisfied. The guards could not account for it. The stone, estimated at two tonnes, had been moved. Not rolled. Moved. The burial cloths were folded with an unsettling neatness, as if left by someone who was, simply, no longer in a hurry.

He appeared first to a woman, Mary, who had never left. Not to the powerful. Not to the verified accounts. To a woman who had stayed when everyone else had run.

Then to others. Dozens. Then hundreds.
The Council issued a counter-narrative. It trended for six hours. Then it didn't.
Because truth, it turns out, does not require an algorithm. It only requires time.

They did not kill a criminal that day. They killed inconvenient love. They killed truth that refused to flatter power. They killed mercy that would not stay quiet. And love — real love, the kind that carries a cross through jeering streets and still says 'Father, forgive them' — does not die on schedule.

The question that remains, the one that refuses to age, is not whether it happened. It is whether, if it were happening today, in your feed, on your screen, trending in your timeline, you would be in the crowd chanting for Barabbas. Or if you would be standing quietly at the edge, weeping, unwilling to walk away.

    Which would you be?

If this story unfolded today, what moment would have made you pause? The betrayal? The vote? Or the silence?

    HAPPY EASTER!
